00:00 We've had a good last couple weekends,
00:03 really done a good job with some of the young guys.
00:06 We kept a lot of the old guys staying sharp,
00:09 being able to get quality work, real big emphasis on fundamentals technique.
00:13 Seeing young guys, you compete, and
00:16 I think it had been outstanding practices over the last few weekends.
00:19 I'm proud of the guys for what I've seen this week.
00:23 We're introducing more of Georgia and
00:26 kind of getting into game plan for what's ahead.
00:30 But it still comes down to the little things.
00:32 It still comes down to overall our execution, our communication.
00:37 Being able to go apply the things that we're learning in the meeting room,
00:41 and work to apply it out there on the practice field.
00:44 But I thought it was a good work.
00:45 We got some good speed against each other.
00:49 Obviously, this week is a little bit different,
00:50 kind of more towards our first week of the season and how we prepped.
00:56 Very similar to what we did a year ago, leading up to a bowl.
00:58 So it is a little different schedule, but I think the guys are handling well, and
01:02 I thought we did a good work today.
01:03 >> How did you handle the process of kind of reassessing
01:09 the end of the season to preparing for another game?
01:12 How did that process go?
01:14 Just getting the guys in the right frame of mind.
01:17 >> I mean, it's been challenging.
01:19 I mean, for all the things that, how the season ended,
01:23 you basically got 12 hours to celebrate what was an unbelievable
01:28 accomplishment for this team.
01:29 Then you had to learn how to work through disappointment, hurt, frustration,
01:34 anger, all day, every bit of it.
01:36 18 to 22 year old kids and 42 year old, 42, I think I'm 42,
01:41 42 year old coach, and so it's hard.
01:44 And I like to say, no, yeah, but at the end of the day,
01:49 you control the things you control.
01:52 And we did everything that we needed to do to win 13 games this season.
01:57 Now we get an opportunity to go get better.
02:00 And so you can't just be good when it sounds good.
02:05 And but for a group of young men that having to work through that,
02:12 I mean, it's probably been the most challenging couple weeks of coaching I've
02:15 ever had.
02:16 And it is our reality.
02:20 So you work through it and go push, get better.
02:25 >> Are you still mad?
02:27 >> Sir? >> Are you still mad?
02:28 >> Sure.
02:32 I mean, I always have the feelings of what happened.
02:37 At the end of the day, I wasn't in that room and it wasn't my choice.
02:41 So my beliefs of what it is, I mean, that's that.
02:46 But I mean, ultimately, I'm really proud for
02:51 the feelings I have that maybe didn't get an opportunity at one thing.
02:56 And why I'm so proud of what and who this team is and
03:00 what they represented for 13 weeks of the season.
03:03 And with all the, whatever challenge presents itself moving forward,
03:09 there's gonna be something that we're gonna point back to.
03:13 And we've dealt with that, and we've grown from it, and
03:17 we get to be better throughout it, but I'll never lose the feelings of that.
03:24 I hope these guys don't either, but
03:26 it doesn't take away from what these guys have accomplished throughout the course of
03:31 the year.
03:32 >> How have you guys gone about processing it?
03:35 All of a sudden you have to go on to a pretty little set up.
03:40 >> Yeah, I mean, the calendar made it even that much more difficult.
03:44 It was, we were all there Sunday, and Sunday night I had two home visits.
03:49 So I mean, I got a chance to talk to the team immediately afterwards.
03:54 I tried to send team text messages throughout the course of the week.
03:57 It's hard to get on the phone with every player throughout it, but
04:02 we did have some communication and just trying to help guys wrap their minds
04:08 around it, because it's not like there's the shut off from everything.
04:13 I mean, the world and social media and all the things that are out there
04:19 to continue to spark or fire, I mean, I'm proud of our guys for
04:24 how they handled themselves, I mean, but they're still kids.
04:29 I mean, just growing young men, but I mean, there's a lot going at them.
04:35 And being on the road the last couple of weeks, that's what's made it really
04:40 difficult, and then you get back to the weekend and the practices that we had.
04:45 We tried to have a team meeting at the end, but
04:47 there's still so many different dynamics that went there.
04:50 You have recruiting visits, we had graduation, which I was really proud.
04:54 You had 22 guys that graduated.
04:56 You were here in December, which is awesome for our team and for their futures.
05:01 But all of those dynamics make it a little bit more difficult, and
05:05 it is what it is.
05:08 >> The dynamic of some of these guys maybe still processing their decision making
05:13 for next year, where they're going to be, how firm of a grasp you have on
05:17 who you'll have available in terms of that for this game?
05:20 >> I'm gonna say, I've got a grasp.
05:24 [BLANK_AUDIO]
05:28 >> You good?
05:29 >> Thanks, coach.
05:29 >> Thanks, coach.
