00:00 Welcome to the Carriker Chronicles, the people show, checking the pulse of an excited, dare
00:13 I say excited Husker Nation, ladies and gentlemen, this is my gut reaction to Dylan Raiola leaving
00:20 the University of Georgia with this commitment, so to speak, and committing to play for the
00:24 University of Nebraska.
00:26 Now real quick before I dive into it and light this candle, if you missed my interview with
00:32 Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts, it literally just went out this morning, so make
00:37 sure you check that out.

00:55 Also if you'd like to welcome Dylan Raiola home here to the University of Nebraska, then
01:01 hit that like button.
01:04 Ladies and gentlemen, so Dylan Raiola has officially committed to play at the University
01:10 of Nebraska.
01:11 We've kind of all been waiting, all been anticipating, everything you hear was this was going to
01:15 happen, but until it actually happened you really didn't know for 100% sure, even though
01:21 I felt like it was 100% sure, which is why I hadn't said a ton, but he's officially committed
01:26 to play for the University of Nebraska.
01:29 Alright, now, Dylan is the highest ranked commit that Nebraska has ever had according
01:36 to ESPN and their rankings and the ranking services, the majority of them, since they
01:41 started really doing it in the early 2000s and 2006.
01:46 I think the previous highest ranked recruit we had was running back Marlon Luckey, Marlon
01:51 Luckey, okay, and now, just some of his stats, okay, the number one quarterback in the class,
01:56 the five star number one quarterback in the class of 2024, passed for 8,882 yards, 88
02:02 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in his high school career.
02:06 Now if you're looking for a 2-1 touchdown to interception ratio, 88 touchdowns to 11
02:13 interceptions is like 8-1.
02:15 Okay, so that's pretty good, takes care of the ball, obviously big time potential, big
02:20 time arm, but I'm going to get into that in a second.
02:24 Okay, so here's what I see with the potential of Dylan Ryola, okay, he's a guy that just
02:31 about everybody projects, the ceiling is through the roof, everyone projects him to do good
02:36 in college and beyond, those are the anticipation, that's the anticipation, that's what people
02:41 project, that's what you see on film.
02:43 When I watch him on film, and I've hinted at this before and I hesitate to say things
02:47 like this, okay, because he's a high school kid, he hasn't even stepped foot on a college
02:52 football field as a player yet, just watching him, watching how he plays, the potential
02:57 of what he, the person he reminds me of is Patrick Mahomes, that's just his play style.
03:02 Who knows if he's going to be Patrick Mahomes or who he's going to be or what he's going
03:05 to be like, he's obviously Dylan Ryola, but my point is who knows how he'll develop and
03:09 grow and mature and get better as he joins Matt Ruhl's football team, but that's just
03:15 who he reminds me of.
03:16 He's got a big arm, accurate, does a lot of things that makes you kind of go, "Wow, okay."
03:22 And he's more of a pocket passer, but he can make plays, he can move around, do things
03:28 with his feet, not necessarily just to take off all the time, but to create time and create
03:33 space and then all of a sudden find that wide open receiver you had no idea was there.
03:37 So that's who he reminds me of.
03:39 Obviously the ceiling is there, the excitement is there, the talent is there, the potential
03:44 is there, there's a reason he's been so highly sought after.
03:48 When you watch his film, there's a reason to be excited about this guy.
03:52 Now, as I've mentioned before, he's kind of been all over the place as far as multiple
03:56 high schools, multiple teams and things of that nature, multiple states.
04:00 Now the positive to that, the positive, there's a positive to everything, the positive is
04:05 he's used to learning new offenses.
04:08 Like learning a brand new offense in a short amount of time is something he's done frequently
04:12 and so it might be a little bit easier, it might come a little bit quicker to him because
04:17 he's done it so many times.
04:19 So that could be a positive to that.
04:22 You start to look at this quarterback room and you start to see it take a little bit
04:25 of form, take a little bit of shape and who knows if they'll bring in a transfer quarterback
04:29 or not, obviously we know Kyle McCord's going to Syracuse, but it's the way it looks right
04:33 now.
04:34 Daniel Kaelin's committed to the Huskers, Dylan Raiola, you've got Harburg, you've got
04:37 Purdy already in that quarterback's room.
04:41 Now, does this mean Harburg goes to tight end, maybe he goes to receiver, something
04:46 like that, who knows?
04:47 I know he wasn't even in the quarterback's room a couple years ago, I know Purdy did
04:51 not get a ton of reps a season ago.
04:55 Okay so now you start to wonder, you've got Dylan, you've got Daniel, I imagine Purdy's
05:01 going to stay there, maybe Harburg moves, but those are three guys, two of them were
05:07 at the Elite 11 quarterback camp.
05:10 Okay Purdy was a four star, higher recruited than his brother, then you've got Dylan, Daniel,
05:15 these are all highly recruited, talented guys with big potential.
05:19 So you start to look at how this quarterback battle might take shape.
05:23 Who's going to be the front runner?
05:24 Do they bring in a transfer portal guy?
05:26 What does that kind of look like?
05:29 These are all things I'm going to keep my eye on.
05:32 Right here, right now, there's reason for excitement because also a guy like this, not
05:38 only with his talent, ability, potential, what he could do, maybe playing early, maybe
05:42 making an early impact, the potential of that is there, but who might follow him?
05:48 Does this attract a couple wide receivers who want Dylan Raiola throwing him the ball?
05:53 Maybe a couple of linemen, maybe a couple of running backs or a tight end who wants
05:56 to have that ball thrown to him.
05:59 So that's the other thing I'm curious to see over the next 48-72 hours, the next two to
06:04 four days as early National Signing Day approaches, which is, let's be honest, it's really National
06:10 Signing Day that day in February, I guess it matters, it's kind of an afterthought,
06:14 but the next two to four days, who else commits?
06:17 What else happens?
06:18 What else comes together with this recruiting class?
06:21 Because that's another thing that could be exciting to watch.
06:26 Obviously, he's a legacy player, his dad was an All-American there, his uncle's coaching
06:31 there, we all know all that.
06:33 So, to me, this is exciting because of the talent, the potential, at by far the biggest
06:39 area of need that the Huskers had, which is the quarterback position.
06:44 Who else comes along for the ride and wants to play with an individual like this?
06:48 He's used to learning offenses quickly because he's done it so many times, and this quarterback
06:54 group, I'm curious to see how this battle takes shape, takes form, goes into spring
06:59 ball, goes into fall camp.
07:01 Is there a transferal portal guy eventually thrown into the mix?
07:04 Harburg, does he move positions, does he stay?
07:07 I predict he probably moves positions because he can make an impact on the field.
07:12 So let's find the best way to get the ball in his hands to do something that is best
07:16 for him and how he can best help the team.
07:20 If he does move, you've got Purdy, you've got Raiola, you've got Kalin, and that's
07:24 if they add nobody.
07:25 Okay, let's see.
07:26 All right, ladies and gentlemen, as you know, this show is brought to you by DPS Concrete

07:49 Again, check them out at dpsconstruction.net.
07:55 I think there's reason for a lot of excitement.
07:57 There's a reason people have been waiting for this commitment.
08:00 Don't forget about the other guys in that room, too.
08:01 I want a legit quarterback competition.
08:05 I do.
08:06 I don't want anything handed, anything predetermined.
08:08 It's got to be earned.
08:10 That's my strongest opinion on all of this.
08:13 All right, ladies and gentlemen, hit me up with questions below.
08:15 All right, first question I got.
08:18 Will Dylan Raiola start at least one game next year for the Huskers?
08:23 Yes or no?
08:24 Yes.
08:25 Number two, are you concerned at all about him staying?
08:28 He has gone from place to place.
08:30 Are you concerned at all about him staying now that he's committed to Nebraska?
08:33 Number three, how many other players do you think will follow Dylan to Nebraska?
08:40 A few?
08:41 A lot?
08:43 Not many.
08:44 Let me know in the comments below.
08:45 As always, check out Carriker Chronicles where all your football hopes and dreams will come
