00:07 Welcome to the Carriker Chronicles, the people show.
00:11 Checking the pulse of Husker Nation.
00:13 Brought to you by DPS Concrete Construction. Check them out at dpsconstruction.net.
00:18 Ladies and gentlemen, it has been far too long since I have done a Carriker Chronicles.
00:23 Now, it's for good reasons, to be honest with you.
00:26 But I'm going to dive into that a little bit later in the show, so stay tuned for that.
00:31 Now, bear with me. Of course, I woke up. I'm excited to do a show.
00:35 I've missed doing the show. A lot of stuff going on, positive stuff.
00:38 Check it out later in the show. I'm going to dive into it, like I just mentioned.
00:41 But of course, I wake up and I'm not feeling 100%.
00:44 But I love doing this job. So let's light this candle, and I can pass out later today, if I need to.
00:50 Alright, so a couple of things. I want to give my projections for the starters in each and every position.
00:55 You know, because it's March and they haven't taken a snap at spring ball yet, so why not?
00:59 Way too early projected offensive starters for Nebraska football going into next fall.
01:04 But as I mentioned, it's been a while since I've done this show.
01:06 So I want to show some love, give a shout out, give some updates for those who haven't been completely up to speed
01:12 on some of the winter sports going on and some of the highlights.
01:15 So, ladies and gentlemen, shout out to Nebraska Men's Basketball.
01:19 They just had their best home season in Nebraska program history.
01:25 18-1 home record. That's awesome.
01:28 Pinnacle Bank Arena has been rocking several times this year for the men, for the women.
01:34 It's a clear home court advantage. It's the most home wins in program history.
01:39 A 947 home winning percentage. The best since 1965 and '66.
01:44 10-0 Big Ten home record. That's phenomenal.
01:48 First perfect conference home record since 2017 and '18.
01:53 And the third in over a century since 1921.
01:58 Now, the Big Red basketball team, 21-9, 100% of their neutral site games as well.
02:04 1-0 in the year. Can't discount that.
02:06 Their overall winning percentage was 700 this year, or 70%.
02:10 Their last game is versus Michigan in Ann Arbor.
02:13 They already beat the Wolverines by 20 points this year.
02:16 So, let's finish the season strong.
02:18 The fellas, alright, they're fourth in the Big Ten standings right now.
02:21 Potentially a 10, 8, or even 7 seed going into the NCAA tournament, of course,
02:26 depending on how they do in the Big Ten tournament.
02:28 Now, Nebraska Women's Basketball having a good season as well.
02:32 Their final regular season record is 19-10.
02:35 A 655 winning percentage. 13-3 at home.
02:38 Again, Pinnacle Bank Arena just rocking this year.
02:41 1-1 neutral site games.
02:43 Okay, number 5 seed going into the Big Ten tournament with a first round bye.
02:47 They just missed out on the double bye, but nonetheless a great season so far.
02:53 And the NCAA tournament is in their sights as well.
02:57 And again, depends on how they do in the Big Ten tournament.
02:59 But they got a real good chance of making the NCAA tournament.
03:02 I'd be shocked if they don't.
03:03 Husker Baseball, so far 7-3 if you ain't paying attention.
03:06 They just finished a sweep of the College of Charleston,
03:09 which is a solid baseball team in South Carolina.
03:11 They're number one in strength of schedule in the country
03:13 and number one in the country in RPI as well early on in this baseball season.
03:20 Now, Nebraska Wrestling, if you missed it, I had a chance--
03:22 I've had a chance to interview Amy Williams, the Nebraska Women's Basketball coach,
03:26 Mark Manning, the wrestling coach, on 93.7 The Ticket.
03:30 Check out those shows when you get an opportunity.
03:32 Nebraska Wrestling, number 3 in America, 12-2, okay, on the season.
03:37 What Nash Hutmaker has done so far this year after taking, what, 3-4 years off of wrestling?
03:43 Okay, lost 30-40 pounds. Now he's going to have to put it back on to play football
03:47 to watch what he has done and the support he's received from the football team.
03:52 And everyone has been awesome so far and very impressive this wrestling season.
03:56 All right, shout out to K.C. Tominaga and all the seniors in all the sports, all right,
04:01 who a lot of them just finished their senior night, so to speak.
04:05 Some of them have them coming up going forward in their senior sports--
04:08 in their senior days coming up soon, easy for me to say.
04:12 And good luck as the postseason approaches.
04:14 And if you're with me on all of that, ladies and gentlemen, smash that Like button
04:18 to show those players and those Husker programs some love.
04:22 And if you haven't done so yet, also hit that Subscribe button.
04:25 All right, ladies and gentlemen, let's light this candle,
04:27 dive into my projections for Nebraska's offensive starters going into next season.
04:31 We have a lot of guys coming back. We have a lot of talent, a lot of highly recruited guys,
04:34 a lot of guys who we brought in through the transfer portal at very key positions.
04:38 All right, wide receivers. Jamal Banks, this is senior out of Wake Forest.
04:42 A transfer, 6'4", 205, earned All-Conference honors for the Demon Deacons.
04:46 And Isaiah Nayer, the Texas transfer, 6'3", 215 pounds, a senior.
04:50 Okay, both these guys have a ton of playing experience, a ton of starting experience.
04:54 Two previous All-Conference honor winners as your potential starting wide receivers.
05:00 Isaiah Nayer did it at Wyoming now.
05:02 He was probably the top wide receiver in the entire transfer portal a couple years ago
05:06 when he went into Texas. He was kind of expected to be their wide receiver number one,
05:11 had the knee injury been bouncing back ever since.
05:13 But you got two big targets, 6'4", 6'3", 205 pounds, 215 pounds.
05:18 Guys who've done it in the past. Hopefully Isaiah can get back into that form
05:22 before the knee injury, and I expect he can.
05:25 Okay, experience, size. This is exciting for the wide receivers,
05:29 and the guys throwing the ball to the wide receivers, but I'll get there in a minute.
05:32 Alright, now, don't forget about some of the other guys.
05:35 Okay, you got sophomore Malachi Coleman. He played in 11 games last year.
05:39 6'4", 190 pounds, another big target with great speed.
05:43 The number one recruit in the state of Nebraska coming out of high school,
05:46 one of the top recruits in the country, battling to be a starter and to get on the field
05:50 in various types of formations, whether it's two receivers, three receivers,
05:53 I don't know, did we go four? Did we do that? Does Matt rule?
05:56 Oh, that'd be interesting to see. He did at Summit Baylor.
05:59 I'm just saying, if you got the ability to do these things, you never know what'll happen,
06:03 because don't forget about sophomore wide receiver, speed demon,
06:06 under-the-radar recruit from Omaha, Jalen Lloyd.
06:09 Was a track star in high school, six-time state champion, all-class champion,
06:13 long jump, triple jump, 100 meters, and he won some of these multiple times.
06:17 These events I'm talking about. Last year he had six catches, 237 yards, three TDs,
06:21 average, basically 40 yards per catch, 39.5 yards per reception,
06:25 and all three of his touchdown catches were over 50 yards.
06:28 Now, check this out. Lloyd, an Ohio State All-American wide receiver,
06:32 who's going to be like a top two or three draft, coming up here in the NFL draft pretty soon,
06:36 top two or three draft pick, are the only Big Ten wide receivers to have at least three receptions over 50 yards.
06:43 All right, now don't forget about a guy like a walk-on junior, Alex Bullock,
06:48 and there's other guys in that wide receiver room as well.
06:51 A guy I'm a fan of. Keep your eyes on him. He's from Omaha, Nebraska.
06:55 Played in 12 games with eight starts last year. Some of the other pass catchers.
06:59 Tight ends Thomas Fedoni and Nate Borkeshire. Fedoni, 6'6", 250 pounds.
07:03 You probably know this, but the country's top tight end recruit,
07:06 top 40 recruit in the entire country as an overall hole coming out of high school.
07:10 Now, I believe George's tight end, Brock Bowers, was number two in that class.
07:14 I'd have to double-check that, but it's clear that Fedoni feels he has a lot to prove
07:18 after battling injuries early on in his career, and that can be a great motivator, I might add.
07:23 Now, he led the Huskers with four touchdown catches and 25 receptions for 260 yards,
07:29 which was second on the team last year.
07:31 Okay, his four TD catches, most by a Husker tight end since 2010.
07:36 Okay, a very willing blocker, I might add.
07:40 All right, he will definitely try to finish you on the blocks.
07:43 Now, if he puts on a little bit more mass, size, and strength,
07:46 a little bit more poundage without losing that speed, okay,
07:49 on his 250-pound body at the moment, he'd make him an even more effective blocker.
07:53 Now, tight end Nick Berkeshire, all right, 6'5", 245 pounds.
07:57 Again, a guy who will block, a guy who will try to finish you.
08:02 Both these tight ends will block, and he's an underrated pass catcher as well, I might add.
08:05 They had some poundage, some strength, some size without losing speed this offseason.
08:10 With the number two rushing attack in the entire Big Ten last year,
08:13 one of the best in the country could be even better with those tight ends blocking as well.
08:17 Okay, 6'5", 245 pounds out of Aurora, Nebraska.
08:20 Now, I got many fond memories personally, myself of Aurora.
08:23 My grandparents owned a small family farm for years, decades, in Giltner, Nebraska,
08:29 if you've ever heard of it.
08:30 That's where my dad was born and raised.
08:32 He grew up on that farm.
08:33 When my grandparents retired, they moved to Aurora.
08:35 And so I spent many a nights at my grandparents' house playing cards,
08:39 going to card parties, watching college football games,
08:42 eating some of the best food I've ever had.
08:44 Okay, so I got a lot of wonderful memories of Aurora.
08:47 Random sidebar, let's bring it back to the topic at hand.
08:50 Now, Nate joined the Huskers as a walk-on after he turned down a scholarship offer from Shadron State.
08:55 Now, he's had 11 starts so far in his career, played in 27 games.
08:59 Another guy to keep your eye on.
09:01 Alright, the offensive line, okay, topic of many a conversation here in Husker Nation over the past few years.
09:07 I believe from the center to the right tackle, we have reasons for great optimism.
09:12 And I'm not saying we don't at the left guard or left tackle.
09:14 There's just some more things that have to be proven.
09:17 I believe everyone has to earn their spot day in and day out, year after year, no matter who you are and what you've done in the past.
09:21 But left guard and left tackle, we're going to get into those in a minute.
09:25 But center to right guard to right tackle, I feel really good about right now, right here at this moment in time.
09:30 Or right tackle, okay, the most improved player on the team last year, in my opinion.
09:35 He chose to come back for another season here at Nebraska as well.
09:38 One of the top O-line recruits out of high school, struggled early on in his career, talking about Bryce Benhart.
09:43 Played very well last season.
09:45 This dude's massive, 6'9", 315 pounds, honorable mention, all Big Ten performer a season ago.
09:52 41 career starts, ties him for the most starts by an offensive line at the University of Nebraska all time.
09:58 Okay, he's probably going to break that record this year.
10:01 Okay, and his 41 starts a right tackle, okay, is the most by a right tackle in Nebraska football history as well.
10:09 He's also got like, the record for consecutive starts and things of that nature.
10:13 That's Mr. Bryce Benhart.
10:15 Now, right guard, senior transfer, Micah Mazzucca.
10:18 Mazzucca the Bazooka.
10:20 So I have read this before, but I'm going to read it again, for those who haven't heard it.
10:23 Okay, and this is back when I announced him joining the team.
10:26 Nebraska's O-line just got bigger and better, because he transferred from Florida and Baylor to join Nebraska.
10:32 He almost joined Nebraska a season ago, but he's joining us now.
10:34 Micah Mazzucca announced that he'll be transferring to us.
10:37 He started 10+ games each of the last two years for Florida and Baylor in 2022.
10:41 At Baylor, he played 11 games, had 10 starts, and graded out as the second best guard in the Big 12, according to Pro Football Focus,
10:48 and the 42nd best guard in the nation.
10:51 And run blocking, specifically, he graded as the best in the conference and 15th best in the nation.
10:57 Think about that. He was the best run blocker in the entire Big 12 in 2022, and the 15th best in the country.
11:02 In 2023, at Florida, oh, keep in mind, he's 6'5", 325.
11:06 Like, this dude's a big dude.
11:08 Okay, Micah started at right guard in 11 of 12 games and played 743 snaps.
11:13 He's got a ton of experience.
11:14 Now, he can improve his past pros just a little bit, but this dude will fire off the ball and hit you in the mouth.
11:18 He's a heck of a run blocker.
11:20 Now, at center, we got Ben Scott, 6'5", 305 pounds, a Remington and Senior Bowl preseason watch list individual.
11:27 28 career starts at Arizona State before he ever even stepped foot on the field for the Big Red a season ago and transferred to Nebraska.
11:34 Now, last year with the Huskers, he was the mainstay on the offensive line, earning honorable mention to all Big 10 honors,
11:40 and chose to come back to Nebraska this year when I'm sure some other teams tried to lure him away in the transfer portal.
11:46 Now, he helped, as I mentioned earlier, he helped Nebraska rank second in the Big 10 in rushing and may be, potentially,
11:51 our best offensive lineman going into next year.
11:54 All around. Talking about all around best offensive lineman, potentially.
11:57 So, again, from center to right guard to right tackle, I feel pretty good right here, right now.
12:02 You look at left guard, left tackle, to me, it's not some gigantic question mark.
12:07 Some things do have to be proven a little bit more and spots gotta be earned even more.
12:11 Ok, at left guard, Justin Evan Jenkins, probably the early favorite, in my opinion, in this competition.
12:16 Alright, at left guard, he played in all 12 games as a freshman with 5 starts at both center and left guard last year.
12:22 Now, starting at two different spots is much more difficult than someone might realize on the offensive line,
12:27 especially when one of those spots is center.
12:30 You gotta make the calls, you gotta, you're making the calls for the entire offensive line.
12:34 You're calling out the mic, you're calling out the strength, you might be sliding the protection,
12:37 you are the quarterback who might be calling an audible.
12:41 It's pretty impressive that he started at not one, but two spots last year, and he did it as a freshman
12:45 at one of those spots as a center.
12:47 This dude is 6'1", 315 pounds, Justin Evans Jenkins.
12:51 Alright, now, another guy who could start at left guard, potentially, is Henry Lutovsky.
12:56 This guy's a big, strong, powerful man. 6'6", 325 pounds.
13:00 Alright, keep your eye on him, potentially.
13:03 I was, actually sent messages about him a couple of years ago, and how strong he is,
13:08 and to keep my eye on him ever since then.
13:10 So just keep your eye on him. He did start a couple of games a year ago as a sophomore going forward.
13:15 Now, at left tackle, we have two of the most highly recruited, talented guys in the entire country
13:19 battling it out at left tackle.
13:21 Alright, another guy I'm gonna talk about first, 6'6", 310 pounds, Turner Corcoran.
13:25 Okay, out of high school, top player in the state of Kansas, one of the top 100 recruits in the country.
13:30 Struggled, has struggled with inconsistency over his 30 career starts so far.
13:35 That's a lot of experience, ladies and gentlemen.
13:37 Talented, experienced, just gotta put it together and find some consistency.
13:42 Now, his season was shortened by injury a year ago.
13:45 Hopefully he can put it together like Bryce Benhart did a season ago.
13:49 Again, size, talent, just find that consistency, which is easier said than done.
13:54 If it was that easy, everybody would do it.
13:56 Alright, and the main other individual in that left tackle spot, battling for that starting left tackle spot, is Teddy Prochaska.
14:04 He's probably the favorite right now. 6'10", 325 pounds. I mean, he's 6'10", Benhart's 6'9".
14:10 I mean, we got two small mountains starting, potentially, at our two tackle spots again this year.
14:15 He's from Elkhorn, Nebraska, one of the top 75 recruits in the country, coming out of high school.
14:20 Battled the past couple of seasons, heading into last year I should say, the previous two seasons before that, with season-ending injuries early on in his career.
14:29 Now, he played in 10 games with 6 starts last year. If he can stay healthy, this dude's a legit beast.
14:35 Alright, our O-line is huge, talented, and honestly, this could be a blessing in disguise due to the ridiculous amount of injuries we had a year ago.
14:44 Dare I say we actually have depth?
14:46 I mean, Matt Rule could walk out there and start 6 O-linemen, which he's done in a game before, which Harbaugh, Jim, likes to do as well.
14:53 You know, just run the ball right down people's throats and up people's rears.
14:57 In the second half versus Penn State, they never threw the ball once.
15:00 They put extra O-linemen on the field, they put them in as tight ends, they just ran the ball.
15:04 I don't know. I wouldn't put it past Rule, I wouldn't put it past our two new offensive coordinators. We'll see, though.
15:09 My point is, we've got to figure out who's going to start at left guard, left tackle, and dare I say, maybe do we have some depth?
15:16 That'd be awfully nice.
15:17 Alright, real quick.
15:18 Alright, ladies and gentlemen, as you know, this show is brought to you by DPS Concrete Construction, your local concrete experts.
15:23 Check them out at DPSConstruction.net.
15:25 If you're a diesel mechanic, CDL driver, concrete finisher, looking for work in the Omaha metro area, DPS Construction is the employer for you.
15:33 There is no better employer than Jason Armstrong.
15:36 There is no better company to have come do work for you.
15:39 If you're looking for work, if you're looking to have work done, DPSConstruction.net.
15:43 Check them out, ladies and gentlemen.
15:45 Alright, running back position.
15:47 This may be the most loaded room on the entire fricking team.
15:52 Gabe Irvin, Jr., 6'220", fast, physical.
15:56 I've pointed this out before and I'll point it out again.
15:59 Because just think about it as I'm saying it.
16:01 He's the first Husker running back ever to start his first game as a true freshman at Nebraska.
16:07 Think about all the greats we've had play running back.
16:09 He was the first one ever.
16:10 Okay, two different coaching staffs have absolutely loved this guy.
16:14 Frost staff and rules staff.
16:16 Okay, he's had two season-ending injuries throughout his career.
16:20 Knee is a freshman, his shoulder a season ago.
16:22 If he can come back healthy, watch out for this guy.
16:24 Alright, Emmitt Johnson, I'm going to talk about him next.
16:26 I've got five backs to talk about.
16:28 Alright, a sophomore, he was our fourth stringer heading into the season a year ago.
16:32 5'11", 190 pounds.
16:34 For now, anyways.
16:35 I'm sure he's hitting that weight room as well, much like a lot of other guys.
16:38 Now, I don't want to say about killed Matt Rule at the Slam Dunk Contest,
16:41 but he tried to jump over him and kind of landed right on his head.
16:44 Player and coach were fine.
16:45 Everyone's healthy, good to go.
16:47 Alright, now he started six of our last seven games last year as a freshman.
16:50 Had 90 carries for 411 yards.
16:52 Two TDs and averaged 4.6 yards per carry.
16:55 Don't sleep on this dude.
16:56 Don't take him for granted.
16:57 Alright, then Ramir Johnson.
16:59 5'10", 180 pounds, speedster.
17:02 Now is another guy who elected to come back to Nebraska.
17:05 I feel like he's overlooked sometimes.
17:07 When he had a chance to start early on in his career, he made some plays.
17:11 And he could do some things.
17:13 Just had a loaded running back room.
17:15 This guy was a track star in high school.
17:17 But I see him, if he doesn't earn the starting job,
17:21 he could potentially be a great third down running back.
17:23 If he can prove he can also pick up blitzes.
17:25 That's an overrated, very important skill.
17:28 Not just catch the ball out of the backfield, which he can do.
17:30 But picking up blitzers when he's asked to do so is a big deal.
17:34 Could be a third down running back.
17:36 We just got to get the ball into his hands in space.
17:38 Which is a third down running back or a return guy.
17:41 I'd love to see that next year with him.
17:43 Alright, Dante Dowdwell, the Oregon transfer.
17:45 Big, powerful back with explosiveness.
17:47 6'2", 215 pounds.
17:50 I mentioned it before, but that's a rare combination, ladies and gentlemen.
17:54 That's why you make room for a back like him.
17:57 In a room, the running back room, where you don't really need another guy.
18:01 But you make room for a guy like him.
18:03 Okay, he's a potential starter.
18:05 He might be our starter day one.
18:07 Who knows?
18:08 If he stays healthy, because we've had some guys get banged up.
18:10 These guys can stay healthy.
18:11 And Dante, who's been healthy.
18:13 Okay, but he could potentially be an immediate impact player.
18:16 Some folks think he might even be the favorite to start at running back for Nebraska this year.
18:21 I'm going to throw this guy out there because Matt Rule has mentioned him multiple times in multiple press conferences over the past year.
18:27 And when a head coach does that, especially for the guy who's never really played a ton, it has to mean something.
18:32 And that's Quentin Ives.
18:34 Okay, young back.
18:35 He needs to learn the playbook better.
18:36 Young back.
18:37 Okay, and be a little bit more well-rounded in his game as a whole.
18:42 6'2", 185 pounds.
18:43 Again, loaded running back room.
18:45 But keep your eye on him.
18:47 Now, quarterback.
18:49 This is kind of what I alluded to earlier.
18:50 Now I'm going to bring this up.
18:51 So I had talked previously, in one of my previous shows, that I was going to do a quarterback-specific show in the future, and I'm still going to.
18:59 So I want to dive into very specific things in that specific quarterback show.
19:04 And I do apologize, because in that same show, where I talked about doing a specific quarterback show in the future, I also mentioned I was going to do one character chronicles each week going forward.
19:12 At least one.
19:14 One to two, but at least one.
19:16 And I was brought up, "Your word is your bond."
19:19 Again, so here's the thing.
19:20 I apologize that that has not happened.
19:22 That is a plan going forward, barring spring break.
19:24 I am going to take spring break off, but I'll let you guys, your fine folks at home, know when that's approaching.
19:30 My family and I are moving.
19:32 And the move is going to allow us to do even more things in Lincoln, more things in Omaha, and more things around those towns and in the state of Nebraska.
19:42 And so, I'm going to be honest with you.
19:45 The future is bright for the character chronicles.
19:47 I have been inundated by people who want to be a part of what we're doing, and that has been what I've been focusing on the past few weeks.
19:53 Not an excuse.
19:55 Just being open and honest with you.
19:57 I'm so excited.
19:59 I'm so freaking appreciative.
20:01 I'm incredibly humbled when I reach out to people, and the response I get, or when people want to reach out to me and be a part of what we're doing.
20:08 So, if you want to be a part of what we're doing, shoot me a message.
20:11 Okay?
20:12 And honestly, the best way to do it, there's a way to contact me through the website, characterchronicles.com.
20:16 If you want to be a part of what we're doing, if you want to write articles, if you want to help contribute with shows on the website, or whatever the case may be.
20:23 If you want to be a sponsor for the show, for the website, for the email list that we have, which is pretty large and growing, we're very grateful for that.
20:32 Just let me know.
20:33 Hit me up through the contact info on the website, characterchronicles.com.
20:36 Or you can shoot me messages other ways as well.
20:40 But I just wanted to give you a brief update on that.
20:42 The future is freaking bright.
20:43 Okay, and I'm excited about everyone who wants to be a part of what they're doing.
20:47 They're communicating pretty openly with me.
20:49 But, Dylan Riola, the quarterback position.
20:51 Dylan Riola, Daniel Kaelin, Heinrich Harburg.
20:55 We got two true freshmen, okay, and one individual who has the only quarterback in that room with any starting experience.
21:01 He has won five games, which is the total amount of wins our quarterback room has this year.
21:06 But the talent in that room is insane.
21:08 If you don't know this, you probably already do.
21:10 You got two Elite 11 quarterbacks in that room, Daniel and Dylan.
21:14 You got a guy who was a top 20 dual threat quarterback in the entire country when he came out of high school in Heinrich Harburg.
21:19 And I like to think of him as a Swiss Army knife going into next year.
21:22 And I love how he freaking plays.
21:23 I don't even have room for that guy.
21:25 Okay, the talent in the quarterback room is not short.
21:28 You know, for me, this is the most exciting position battle the entire offseason.
21:34 Not just for me, but for most of Husker Nation.
21:36 The most important position battle.
21:37 And I will tell you this, we can't mess the quarterback position up again.
21:41 And no disrespect to anybody or anything from previous years or last year, whatever.
21:45 I hope you know what I'm saying.
21:46 All due respect.
21:47 But we gotta get it right, okay.
21:48 Matt Ruhl's done a lot of things right since he got here.
21:50 Quarterback in year one, wasn't one of them.
21:52 It's okay.
21:53 You know, we just gotta do better going forward in the future is all I'm saying.
21:57 Now my question is, let's say we start a true freshman.
22:00 Let's say it's Dylan, because that's what everyone's clamoring for, okay.
22:03 I'm always about earning the freaking job and position.
22:06 Will fans be patient if there's a big learning curve, okay.
22:10 Are the expectations too high for a true freshman?
22:13 I don't know.
22:14 These are all things I'm gonna dive into.
22:15 These are things I want you to let me know in the comments below.
22:18 Because I'm thinking about and pondering these things as I get ready for that quarterback show.
22:21 Somewhere over the next few weeks that I'm going to do.
22:24 Now, if you didn't know this, Dylan, Ryola, Daniel, Cale, and their pocket passers, okay.
22:29 Both of their dreams, they grew up wanting to play for Nebraska.
22:32 Daniel grew up in Nebraska.
22:34 Okay, immediately decommitted from Missouri when he had the chance.
22:37 Dylan grew up in a Big Red family, as you all know that.
22:40 Dad played for the Big Red, his uncle now coaches for the Big Red.
22:43 Their dreams were to play for Nebraska.
22:44 And I understand some of the switching that happened from school to school with Dylan.
22:48 But you could just tell, this was where his heart always was.
22:51 And once rule took over, I think it was easier for him to commit.
22:54 Now I will say this, I believe it has to be a legit quarterback battle.
22:57 It can't be predetermined who's gonna win this.
22:59 I'm gonna dive into this more in the future.
23:01 I would actually start day one, rep one.
23:03 I'd start Heinrich Haberger quarterback because everybody has to earn it,
23:06 and he's the only guy who's done it before.
23:08 Whether I think he's gonna be the starter or not, come game one, is irrelevant.
23:13 To me, it's gotta be earned, and I would start rep one or practice one in spring,
23:17 the guy who's at least been here before, and then maybe you rotate after that,
23:21 or you see how it goes, or whatever happens.
23:23 Again, lots of quarterback thoughts.
23:26 I'll talk about it in the future.
23:28 But here is my--and let me know your thoughts below.
23:30 But here is my projected starters in March, before we've taken a rep of spring practice football,
23:38 for Nebraska's offense starting next year.
23:41 And this is fluid and subject to change.
23:44 I think that goes without saying.
23:46 At quarterback, I'm gonna go for right now Dylan Raiola.
23:48 Let me be very clear, it needs to be earned.
23:52 But if I'm gonna do a show in March, this is how I'm gonna do it, and here we are.
23:55 Running back, I actually think we're gonna have a three-way rotation.
23:58 I think somebody's gonna end up transferring, 'cause the room is so loaded.
24:02 That's fine. I do think we're gonna have a three-way rotation of running back.
24:05 And my prediction is Gabe Irvin and Dante Dowdwell are the two main backs,
24:09 with Ramiro Johnson being a third down back, and hopefully a return specialist.
24:13 A wide receiver, I got Jamal Banks and Isaiah Nair, but keep your eyes on Coleman, Lloyd, etc. as well.
24:19 At tight end, I got Thomas Fedoni.
24:22 At right tackle, I got Bryce Benhart.
24:23 At right guard, I got Micah Mazzucca.
24:25 At the bazooka at center, I got Ben Scott.
24:27 At left guard, I'm gonna go with Justin Evans-Jenkins.
24:29 At left tackle, I'm gonna go with Teddy Prochaska.
24:31 I don't think it'd be a bad thing to grab another lineman out of the portal after the spring ball is over.
24:36 Just putting it out there. And that's only ten starters.
24:38 Now, I didn't really address the fullback position, 'cause that would be the 11th starter.
24:43 Okay, there's really two favorites right now.
24:45 Probably the lead man, potentially, would be Janirium Bonner.
24:49 But if you go 13 personnel, Nebraska can do that.
24:52 Bring in Coleman as that third wide receiver.
24:54 If you wanna go 14 personnel, with one running back, four wide receivers, bring in Jaylin Lloyd.
24:57 If you wanna go 12 personnel, one running back, two tight ends, bring in Nick Borgeshire.
25:01 You wanna go two running backs, put Gabe and Dante on the field.
25:04 Or Ramir.
25:05 Like, you can put Harburg on the field.
25:07 Again, I see him as that Swiss Army knife type of quarterback that you can do a lot of things with.
25:13 Okay, we have a lot of flexibility with the personnel, I believe, with Nebraska's offense this year.
25:19 Okay, they could even go 22 personnel, two tight ends, two running backs.
25:23 They could bring an extra offensive lineman and a tight end.
25:25 Again, I've mentioned that before.
25:27 There's a lot of flexibility for co-offensive coordinators Marcus Satterfield,
25:31 who's gonna be calling plays and coaching tight ends,
25:33 and Glenn Thomas, the newly hired quarterbacks coach, who's also gonna be helping to design plays.
25:38 Now, here are my questions for you fine folks at home.
25:40 Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, as always.
25:42 Do you agree or disagree with any of my projections for starters for Nebraska this upcoming season?
25:47 You can simply say yes or no, or let me know exactly where you agree or disagree.
25:51 Number two, which position on offense is the biggest question mark for you?
25:54 Number three, who will take the first snap game one at running back for Nebraska?
25:59 Check out CarrikerChronicles.com.
26:01 It's gonna be overhauled with some new updates soon.
