What is the latest with Sunderland's hunt for a new head coach?
Transcript
00:00 I get the impression, reading between the lines, I get the impression that nothing's really that close yet.
00:07 I think perhaps there's been some sort of opening conversations between the two, both parties maybe sounding each other out.
00:14 Obviously he's going to have to pay, Kirilu Dreyfus would have to pay Will Stills' club some compensation.
00:21 That would still need to be agreed on. I don't think we're at the stage of a contract being offered or anything like that.
00:28 To be fair to Mike Dodds, he's actually bought Sunderland's hierarchy a little bit of time here, hasn't he?
00:34 Because if Sunderland had lost those two games against West Brom and Leeds, or even got a point each,
00:41 the fan base would rightly be demanding some answers and some movement.
00:47 But with two wins, it's given Sunderland this window really where they can really drill down, really explore the option.
00:56 It feels to me, Joe, like it's Will Stills or Mike Dodds. I don't really see any other two candidates at the moment.
01:05 But there's also as well, these reports are coming out of France with L'Equipe and also out of Belgium as well.
01:15 This is just a hunch, it's not any insider in-the-know gossip or anything like that.
01:21 But it's commonplace in industries all over the world where if you've got an interested party,
01:28 you then leverage that party to maybe get what you want in your current job.
01:33 He might be looking for more money in January, he might be looking for a better contract.
