Leeds United: Whites win seven in a row at Elland Road
Transcript
00:00 Leeds have won seven games in a row in the Championship.
00:03 They are on a brilliant winning streak at the moment.
00:06 What does that come down to, firstly, and how proud can the players be,
00:11 how proud can Daniel Thark be of the way that he's got things going at Ellen Road at the moment?
00:15 Yeah, extremely proud.
00:17 Yeah, I think it comes down to a lot of factors.
00:18 I mean, the crowd themselves will obviously, you know, make a huge difference.
00:21 I remember, like, talking an awful lot about over the years,
00:24 Ellen Road and Leeds United's crowd and how it can sometimes, you know,
00:27 almost work against the team if things aren't going very well, you know,
00:30 because it can almost be like a bit nervous and stuff.
00:31 But the way to do it is to sort of embrace it.
00:33 And that's exactly what's happened.
00:34 And, you know, just fantastic support has helped Leeds through a lot of games,
00:38 which haven't been straightforward.
00:40 Some of them, I mean, the last two, I mean, they're almost carbon copies of each other.
00:43 I mean, going one-nil down very, very early on and then fighting back both times.
00:47 And the crowd helps no end in that circumstance.
00:49 But it also comes down to the players.
00:50 It also comes down to having a very good team and a very good manager.
00:53 And it's a wonderful achievement.
00:54 I mean, you know, the stats tell you everything you need to know.
00:57 Seven wins in a row.
00:57 I mean, Leeds did do that in 2009/10, but that was obviously down in League One.
01:03 So, but at this level, that hasn't been done, the top two divisions anyway,
01:06 that hasn't been done since 1999.
01:08 You have to go all the way back to David O'Leary's team, you know,
01:10 and you know how good they were, obviously, in the Premier League.
01:11 So, the stats tell you everything about it.
01:13 And it's not a club record, which is amazingly 15 in terms of home wins on the spin,
01:17 which was that '09/10 era.
01:20 But at this level, it'll be getting close to, if they keep going.
01:23 And, you know, you've got to say that you hope that would be the foundation for promotion.
01:26 Obviously, they are playing catch-up, but yeah, it's been a wonderful achievement.
01:30 And obviously, the aim is to just keep it going.
01:31 I mean, the seven in a row now, I mean, you don't...
01:34 Coventry's coming up next.
01:35 You would probably fancy Leeds in that, but you never know the Championship
01:39 and you can throw up funny results.
01:40 And then obviously, the one after that is going to be Ipswich.
01:42 And we all know about how enormous that's going to be.
01:44 But yeah, they must have so much confidence when they're stepping out at Ellen Road.
01:47 All the players when we interviewed, Glenn Kamara, Giorgina Routier,
01:51 they've all talked about it recently, about the home record and how proud they are of it.
01:55 And yeah, it is a wonderful, wonderful achievement.
01:57 It's sort of gone under the radar a little bit, I suppose.
01:59 But, you know, quietly, surely they've picked up those wins in a row
02:03 and it is a wonderful achievement that I hope they can keep going.
02:06 Really, if they keep... I mean, obviously, if that keeps going,
02:08 then the away form is just key to them going up, basically.
