00:00 Yeah, look ahead to next season now. I know that's going to be
00:03 Anyone listening or watching probably not what they're thinking of right now in terms of Leeds United looking ahead to next season
00:09 I think the hurt will still be quite raw
00:11 for most of a Leeds persuasion, but
00:15 It's something that happens in football. You know, there's there's no rest for the wicked
00:19 unfortunately, so
00:21 You know, it's only it's only a couple of months away preseason will creep up on us very very quickly and before we know it
00:27 And all of a sudden it will be August mid-august and well start of August for the championship and the season will be
00:33 Getting underway. So late. Well
00:35 What what's it looking like? I mean, obviously we can't fully analyze a lot yet
00:40 Because we don't know how the summer's going to go
00:42 We don't know who's gonna get the club come the start of August in terms of who might leave who might come in
00:47 Both the way it's looking now because of course we know all the teams that are confirmed to be in the championship
00:53 Yeah, as far as we know leads up favorites, which is
00:56 Well, they are
01:00 Yeah, I mean that's the fact and people can obviously say well that means nothing because and you know
01:04 Quite often the odds can mean nothing
01:06 I mean leads were long long long odds on to see a lot of my promotion obviously when they you know in the height of
01:10 amazing run in the second half of the season, but but they are favorites and that's the fact and and
01:15 In fairly clear ones as well five to one at the moment Burnley eight to one and then twelve to one Luton
01:21 So they've got Borough 14 West Brom 14 Coventry 16
01:24 Sheff United 16 and Norwich 16 and you could argue that there's some in there that look a big price Luton in particular
01:30 But 12 seems quite big to me obviously a lot depends on them
01:33 You know who stays there as well not least the manager is obviously a very very impressive young manager Robert Woods
01:39 But you know, there's a temptation to think well
01:41 Let's hold off looking ahead to next season for a bit, you know
01:45 It's a bit raw and it's still you know, only just sinking in but but the show moves on basically, you know
01:49 and obviously, you know, you need to sort of like sort of take it on the chin and whatever and
01:53 Digest it but the show does move on and very quickly
01:56 You've got to start planning for next season
01:58 The fact is the transfer window opens less than three weeks after the playoff final and you know before you know
02:03 It'll be preseason and obviously now it's championship football. I think it's a weekend attempt for 10th 11th of August
02:08 It's not actually that long. So it will soon be here. And I mean should there be favorites?
02:13 I don't know. It's hard one to answer, isn't it?
02:15 Really? I think basically if they keep the same squad as I've got now then probably probably just about yes
02:20 but then that's if they play shoes performances like, you know, the wallop in the Norwich and
02:25 Performances like that and being it switch home and away and Lester home away to produce performances like they have against Southampton
02:31 Then there shouldn't be favorites. But I mean there's a long summer ahead. I mean heaven knows which players are gonna stay
02:37 I mean, obviously
02:38 Somerville's gonna be top of the list for players in demand
02:41 Archie Dre is as well. Let's be honest about it. I mean
02:44 You know, he's got a world at his feet still only 18 and you wouldn't think so
02:48 So there's no point, you know pretending that there won't be interested in because it's bound to be
02:53 And obviously I suppose, you know non
02:55 So as well as probably the other main one and then Rogan's a big key once he was only on loan
03:00 So who knows what's gonna happen with the players?
03:02 Obviously the big main thing that people talk about is the manager Daniel Farker
03:06 But you know sounds to all extents and purposes like he will get the back in from from the 49ers and from the club
03:11 And I think that's the right call, you know, I think that's only fair when he came in what you have to deal with
03:16 You know, it'll point to how difficult it was at the start of the season
03:20 Which it was but in the end it wasn't really the start of the season that cost him
03:24 It was the end which is sort of quite ironic, but I think he deserves a crack, you know from the start
03:28 But it's not gonna be playing sailing this summer either
03:31 But as I say because you have to try and hold on to your stars
03:33 And then obviously, you know, there'll be recruitment as well
03:36 And that will you know
03:37 Obviously play a lot very big part who they bring in this summer as to how they do next season
03:41 So yeah, they will go into it as favorites
03:44 I think I wouldn't be surprised if that price drifted out a little bit and there was a bit more support coming in for other teams
03:49 But it all depends also on what happens with the other teams in terms of that, you know recruitment and manager
03:55 Management situation and stuff like that. Obviously, the three teams needs the division from League One
03:59 Nobody really put it switch up there did they last season? I mean
04:06 Yeah, exactly there were a few people actually that thought they might do quite well
04:09 But like potentially, you know, maybe Nick and nip into six
04:12 I don't think anybody had them down for the second place. So so who knows there's bound to be a surprise package
04:17 But I mean that next I mean this season was massive for Leeds but next season feels even bigger now, obviously because
04:24 You can't write off the playoffs if Leeds end up in the playoffs again next season, you know
04:29 You can't just suddenly go into anything
04:30 Well, ain't gonna win the playoffs because this club doesn't do the playoffs
04:32 I mean, that's the feeling basically, isn't it?
04:34 But I mean you couldn't go into it thinking that but it just feels like next season they're gonna have to finish top two
04:39 Yeah, they've got to go up automatically and and to be quite honest, there can't be any excuses
04:48 You know, like it's down to them now what they do this summer, obviously
04:52 Yes, there might be interest in the star names, but then that's down to the to the club what to do
04:56 They're in control as Daniel Farks always put it
04:58 So they need to go into the sea and they need to have a blinding start
05:01 It's as simple as that and that's going to be key not just to feel to Leeds but also to Daniel Fark, you know
05:06 I think they need to start the season very very strongly and and hopefully they will I mean
05:10 There's no reason why they won't obviously it'll take a bit of getting over the playoff heartache final heartache and whatever
05:15 But yeah, I mean, you know people can turn the noses up at the odds and you know
05:20 Like talking about on this quickly, but the fact of the matter is Leeds United are going to be favorites for the next season's title
05:26 So, yeah, that's another one for us to visit on another day. I think but it'll soon be here
05:31 and
05:33 He goes about saying this summer is absolutely huge. It is indeed
05:37 I mean, that's I guess that is one way of ending this episode to be honest
05:41 and you know after all that after the
05:43 venting and the heartbreak you've had over the course of the episode of the course that we can to
05:48 To finish and say yes, but Leeds are favorites for next season
05:52 So you never know come this time next May, you know in 12 months time things might be a little bit different for
05:57 For the for the lads in white, but for now, of course as I mentioned that the hurts will be very raw
06:03 for fans of players for staff and the journalists as you say Lee because
06:08 As much as people might have argued as you said that bad news is what sells
06:13 Hmm in in the same way, you know good news
06:16 It can it it gets a buzzer out the club and then people want to read people want to consume everything just as much
06:22 I mean certainly I've learned that as well. So, you know, it works two ways in my opinion
06:26 So yeah, and I think that's that's all we can really say for now
06:31 We will be back for another couple episodes before the end of the season
06:34 So lots of talk about before the offseason comes in and the euros kicks in so we'll we'll keep going until then
06:40 But for now, thank you all for listening Lee as I say, it's been a bit of bit of crap weekend hasn't it?
06:46 Let's be honest. It has yes it has but we'll move quickly on and as the saying goes we go again
06:53 Certainly do, Ray. Thank you all for listening and we'll see you next time.
