Uganda declares war on used clothing

00:40 And out of this, $100 million is spent on secondhand clothing.
00:50 And this is the focus that our country,
00:52 that His Excellency the President, President Mbuseven,
00:55 says this must be sorted.

01:02 So we have cotton.
01:17 We can produce all these things that we
01:19 are talking about in the secondhand market
01:22 here in Uganda.
01:23 And we have companies that have started producing.
01:26 If you go to Mbali Industrial Park,
01:28 if you go to find spinners, nightie,
01:31 and others that are coming on, can
01:33 be able to replace this thing, rather
01:36 than secondhand closings, in a very pretty short time.

01:42 Because they are cheap, people easily
01:52 can get them at the cheaper prices.
01:57 Every person can buy cheap clothes,
02:01 better than these new clothes.

02:07 So if they come and ban us, number one,
02:23 we are going to lose our jobs.
02:26 To sustain our families is going to be very difficult.
