Liberty Flames Clinch Conference-USA Title, Beat New Mexico St.

00:02 - And it actually was two games on Friday night
00:08 with the Conference USA Championship game,
00:10 New Mexico State and Liberty.
00:12 We saw the Flames win this one,
00:13 39 to 35, disappointing for me, Joe.
00:16 I had the New Mexico State Aggies plus 11 and a half.
00:20 It looked good, the whole game really until the end.
00:24 And something I took away, Joe, is Conference USA
00:27 wanting a team to make the New Year's Six,
00:30 Liberty their only shot.
00:31 If you watch this game, guys,
00:33 they got the majority of the calls.
00:35 There was even one big one where two guys came down
00:38 in the end zone, New Mexico State,
00:40 with the football joint possession.
00:41 Usually goes to the offense.
00:43 Hey, for some reason they gave it to Liberty.
00:45 I think it has to do with follow the money.
00:48 Joe, did you take anything away from the Flames
00:51 winning this one, 49-35 over New Mexico State?
00:55 - Well, your bet was pretty safe
00:57 until that fourth quarter, Drew.
00:59 You look at these two teams and how tight they stayed
01:02 in the first, second and third,
01:03 both answering back with touchdowns.
01:05 Both teams had one touchdown in the first,
01:08 two touchdowns in the second, two touchdowns in the third.
01:11 And Liberty able to pull away in that fourth quarter,
01:15 getting those two touchdowns to win this one
01:18 by those 14 points.
01:19 So I was impressed with what I saw out of this team here.
01:22 Their running back, Cooley, had a really nice day.
01:26 He put up 71 yards and three touchdowns on that game.
01:30 So they definitely dominated with that run game with him.
01:34 It was a great game,
01:35 especially to have him do so well in the run game
01:39 and this one to still fly over that total.
