00:00Now, let's get to the title defense that begins today in Ann
00:08Arbor. Our reigning national champs in college football.
00:12Michigan starting its season in the big house as a three
00:15touchdown favorite against Fresno State and Kev despite
00:18being the reigning national title winners so much change
00:21and turnover this off season from the very top Jim Harbaugh
00:25no longer the head coach in Ann Arbor coaching in the
00:28National Football League for the LA Chargers quarterback JJ
00:32McCarthy is gone. Lead running back Blake Corum is gone so
00:35much talent from the defensive side of the football. Thirteen
00:38Michigan Wolverines drafted in 2024 in the NFL. When you lose
00:43that much pro talent, there's a lot to figure out for the
00:47Maize and Blue. How does it look in the true debut of
00:50Sharon Moore today against the Bulldogs? I will just say and I
00:52don't want to downplay what they lost, especially because a
00:55lot of the guys they lost were contributors for multiple
00:58years and McCarthy and Corum being the most notable of that
01:01bunch, but the best teams in college football lose a lot and
01:06reload right and it's part of the reason why Ohio State and
01:09Georgia stand out the way they do this year with all that they
01:11return, but Michigan is not a team that should if they win
01:15seven games this year, that's not acceptable for Michigan
01:17football and certainly my expectations are much higher
01:20than that, but here's the big thing with this game today. If
01:23they lose the Fresno, then we have a rewrite a completely
01:26different story is this team's quarterback battle where many
01:30were expecting Alex orgy to win it. Well yesterday we were
01:34seeing. I don't know maybe around six 7 o'clock at night
01:38rumors bubbling on Twitter that Davis Warren was going to win
01:41this job. I took note at around 11 midnight last night. There
01:46were still some Alex orgy numbers out there. They were on
01:49drafting now they're doing props differently this year, but
01:52105 plus passing yards was minus 120. There are no unders
01:56to play. There was a minus 275 under one and a half passing
02:01touchdown number again. I personally backed off. It could
02:04be one of those things while minus 275 is a lot. What does it
02:08matter if this kid's one not a real thrower and two not the
02:13starting quarterback. I lean over in this game because it
02:16looks like this quarterback battle is going to continue and
02:19that means that they're going to have to still try on
02:21offense here. Michigan and it's a low number Joe, but seeing
02:25that this team's quarterback situation is still this cloudy.
02:28I didn't love that. Well, keep in mind as well week two they
02:31play Texas and Quinn yours right there going to push tempo
02:34as well. so it's critical to get that continuity as it
02:37relates to the quarterback wide receiver relationship. I will
02:40say in terms of the home cooking 22 and over the past two
02:44and two and a half seasons for Michigan in Ann Arbor. They won
02:48those games by an average margin of victory last year of 26
02:51point three points per game. We know their their commitment to
02:55the rushing attack in two games that Jerome Moore coached at
02:58the end of the regular season against Penn State in Maryland.
03:01They rushed for 84 attempts. That's where it comes down to
03:04the offensive line and Donovan Edwards a little inconsistent
03:07last year guys, but they still average 169 rushing yards per
03:11game over the past couple of seasons, twelve and oh every
03:14time they pounded for over 200 to me. That's the difference. I
03:17think they can get over this number as well and those will
03:20still be the building blocks for Jerome Moore, who was the
03:23offensive coordinator under Jim Harbaugh. He was the O line
03:26coach. Michigan won the Joe Moore award for the best O line
03:29unit in college football in two of the previous three seasons
03:33and Donovan Edwards returns for Michigan. Their defense is also
03:37going to be darn good. Once again, the best scoring defense
03:40in the country last year, the only team to limit opponents to
03:44less than double digits, nine and a half points per game
03:47given up with two All-American candidates up front. It's Mason
03:50Graham on the D line in the secondary. It's Will Johnson,
03:54one of the best DBs in all of college football.
