00:00 With the ongoing rail strikes causing more and more disruption, we wanted to go out to see what people thought.
00:04 While they had disrupted my journey, I've had to reschedule my plans with friends on several occasions, so I'm not a fan of the train strikes, as everybody else probably is for the whole of England.
00:15 Next week? Probably in terms of travel plans, in terms of getting to my lectures in Manchester, and like I said, with some friends over the festive season, but yeah, that's about it. I'm not a fan at all.
00:29 I think they're going on a long time, too long, and it's really disruptive, especially for workers, because there's no reliance on them.
00:40 And even when they're not on strike, they're, you know, sort of sometimes they cancel because there's no crew, or, you know, so I just think they're damaging.
00:52 No, because I'm lucky enough, I don't work, I'm retired, and I can plan, so I'm not reliant on them, as say I would have been a few years ago.
01:03 I just think it's just harming, I think it's harming the rail service, because people are going to find other means of travel, and then are they going to go back to rail?
01:14 And as I said, I think it's damaging to the country, because economically, people are suffering with work.
01:20 I don't know, I think it might change us as a country. I mean, if you go to like Italy, and France, and all these other European, well a lot of the European countries, the trains are so reliable, and so efficient, and I just think we're just like, we don't look good in the world, really, or should I say within Europe.
01:42 To be honest, I don't really know much about it. I know that for some people it's been a bit of an issue, but not really much of an issue for me.
01:53 Yeah, I usually get the train from Preston to Newport to Sturgeshire, and Leeds, but it hasn't really affected me getting there, or that. I've heard that people have booked train tickets in advance, and it's been cancelled, and it's been a bit of a nightmare, like trying to get home, and it's been delayed for days.
02:20 By train strikes, I get really annoyed by them, especially as I live four hours away, and my uni's here, so I can't actually get home. I've had it last year where I was stuck up until Christmas, and I couldn't get that. It affected loads of my bank accounts, and they were quite upset.
02:37 Yeah, probably more so, especially with, like, it's already happened where they had a strike and they didn't put out, and that really affected me going home, and I caused my parents to have quite a lot of issues with their work, because they had to pack stuff. So yeah, it did really kind of affect not just me, but loads of other people, because I couldn't get the train back.
02:56 I'm a bit worried about it, because we haven't been told anything about it, but I feel like there's something going to happen anyway, so it's probably going to happen either way, so I think we just need to prepare for it. So I now have to save up extra money, that would usually go to my rent, all my food, groceries, petrol, because I do drive, but that's for up here, not for to go home.
