Detroit Lions slip in NFC playoff standings to No. 3 seed.
Transcript
00:00 giant alliance have officially slipped to the number three seed in the NFC.
00:03 What do you make of that being case for the Lions? Yeah, Vito, real
00:08 interesting. Now the Detroit Lions really have to pay attention to their
00:11 upcoming schedule. Starting this week with a tough road contest against the
00:15 New Orleans Saints, they're gonna want to play a better brand of football
00:19 after being defeated by the Falcons due to the lines lost to the Packers along
00:24 with the 49ers win on Thanksgiving against the Seahawks. The Lions are now
00:28 the number three seed in the NFC as both the lines and 49ers possess an 83
00:34 record. Look, I'm not terribly concerned when you look at the Detroit Lions,
00:38 their play as of late has been riddled with mistakes, turnovers. And I just
00:44 think that when you look at it, playing three games in 11 days is a
00:47 significantly tough stretch for the Detroit Lions football team. But, you
00:51 know, for everybody involved with the Lions organization, it's very important.
00:55 One of the key goals this year was established was to win the division.
00:59 And obviously they want to secure a home playoff game and have an
01:04 opportunity to advance as far as possible this year. But when you look
01:07 at it, it's tough in the NFC right now. You look at the Philadelphia Eagles,
01:11 they had a tough contest against the bills. You look at the 49ers, they're
01:15 steadily improving, having gained confidence with the addition of Chase
01:19 Young and Brock Purdy. So for the Detroit Lions, they have to continue to
01:23 handle their business. And I think that Dan Campbell and the coaching staff
01:26 are definitely going to emphasize the fact that if they do not play their
01:31 brand of football, which is cleaner, making less mistakes and really finding
01:37 opportunities to improve along both the offensive line and defensive line. I
01:41 think if they don't improve, then they'll continue to dip. When you look
01:45 at it on Monday Night Football, the Bears and Vikings game, even though it
01:50 was not an appealing contest, the Vikings ended up losing that game,
01:54 which allows the Lions to stay with the 2.5 game lead in the division. So a
01:59 lot of interesting factors now going to be in play for the next couple of
02:02 weeks. But right now the line sit as the number three seed in the NFC.
02:05 John, thanks for all the insight.
