00:00 John, the Lions players are inspiring a few draft prospects in this year's NFL Draft Class.
00:05 Pretty interesting to hear that coming out of the combine right now this week.
00:09 John, what do you have to say about that?
00:11 A few of these Lions players inspiring current draft prospects.
00:15 Yeah, absolutely.
00:16 You look at what's going on now.
00:18 When you're a good football team, people take notice.
00:22 And you look at draft prospects, clearly they understand what a lot of these NFL teams are
00:27 looking for.
00:28 They're looking for tough, gritty, resilient football players.
00:31 And the buzzword for the Detroit Lions is "violent."
00:33 So you're going to hear a lot of draft prospects when they're interviewed and talking about
00:36 the Lions, talking about being aggressive and being violent.
00:40 But you're hearing a lot of positivity from the prospects, including the tight end Brock
00:45 Bowers, who definitely wants to emulate the success of Sam Laporta, who's been now a key
00:51 figure early on.
00:52 Many people believe that the tight end position, it's tough to succeed early on.
00:56 Now Sam Laporta has kind of given hope to a bunch of prospects that, "Hey, wait a minute.
01:02 You can come in and have early success."
01:04 Tyrion Arnold, the talented defensive back from Alabama, he discussed how battling with
01:10 Jamison Williams has definitely helped him move forward in his collegiate career, especially
01:15 now as he embarks on an NFL career.
01:17 His tight relationship with Jamison Williams definitely helped him.
01:20 Obviously, he struggled early on with playing time, but recognized that, hey, once he lost
01:25 some playing time, he fought back and earned his way back into the rotation, now potentially
01:30 going to be a top 25 pick.
01:33 So he's inspired by Jamison Williams.
01:35 And then a great story that came out from some of the early interviews was Jonah Ellis,
01:42 the son of Luther Ellis, who has been obviously clearly a Lions fan all throughout his childhood,
01:48 but like so many, kind of got laughed at because the Lions struggled.
01:53 And his dad played for the team for a better part of eight, nine seasons.
01:56 And now he can hold his head up high.
01:58 And he told reporters, "I can be a proud Lions fan, and I'm excited to see the success that
02:04 the Lions had in 2023."
02:06 And he's an interesting prospect, a name to pay attention to on day two.
02:10 Jonah Ellis, a defensive lineman that has potential.
02:14 Three brothers in the National Football League.
02:17 Hopefully if he gets drafted, we'll have four sons from Luther Ellis playing in the National
02:24 Football League.
02:25 So the Detroit Lions are inspiring a bunch of young cats, young draft prospects, and
02:30 as well as they should.
02:31 The Lions are a good football team, an organization that's building.
02:36 And if you recall, Dan Campbell is the third highest graded head football coach with an
02:41 A plus grade.
02:42 So you can't beat that when you're looking at the Lions organization.
02:46 A lot of good positive news coming from the combine.
02:49 Jon, no time better than now to be a Detroit Lions fan.
02:52 Thanks for all the time.
