00:02 Welcome to Sunday Morning Quarterback
00:10 with Jay Stockwell and Bob Frady.
00:13 - I'm blind, I'm blind.
00:16 (laughing)
00:17 Where's my offensive play calling sheep?
00:20 (laughing)
00:21 I'm blind, I'm blind.
00:24 - This was a seizing of missed opportunities
00:29 between replay officials, bad clock management,
00:33 coaching decisions, injuries.
00:36 This is a team that could have been 10 and two
00:41 and unfortunately we sit here at five and seven.
00:47 - You are what you are
00:50 and what you are is not going to a bowl game.
00:53 - But below expectations, just four weeks ago
00:58 things seem so bright.
01:00 - Yes, just one more coach.
01:03 No, I want them all.
01:05 Well, you get none of them, get.
01:08 - One lesson we have got to learn Bob
01:10 is that we listen to the Vegas odds makers,
01:13 like especially as it relates to over or under.
01:16 These guys know what they're doing.
01:19 - Yeah, well the points were just,
01:21 that was one thing but the over under.
01:24 You know, here's what I saw,
01:28 which really the most disappointing thing
01:31 about yesterday's game is not
01:33 that we pulled the most Nebraska ending out of a hat
01:38 where we threw a pick with less than a minute left
01:40 and they turned around and kicked the winning field goal.
01:42 - Can you believe it?
01:43 I couldn't believe it.
01:44 - I could, I was like how are they gonna,
01:46 how are they gonna kick us in the nuts this week?
01:48 And they came up with some really creative nut kicking,
01:52 that's for sure.
01:54 But the thing that really surprised
01:57 and disappointed me the most
01:59 was the lack of inventiveness on the offensive play sheet.
02:04 Like you know you're going up against a great defense
02:06 that over pursues and gang tackles.
02:10 And then I watched a bunch of games today
02:12 and I saw so much creativity it wasn't even funny.
02:14 Michigan is having their running backs throw the football.
02:18 Here's a pitch, throw the football.
02:20 Try it, loosen people up.
02:22 It's like you got nothing to lose.
02:24 If you had gone into this with a really inventive
02:28 like let's just pull out all the stops and go, go, go,
02:31 then you know there's some respect.
02:33 - Let me just run some numbers by you.
02:35 And it's such a contrast.
02:38 But it's as a CEO, Matt Rule cannot look at this data
02:44 and fail to take action, right?
02:49 Because it's so stark, all right?
02:52 So what's the ranking of our punter nationally?
02:55 - 110.
02:57 - 101.
03:00 What's the ranking of our kicker nationally?
03:04 - 110.
03:05 - 101.
03:07 All right, so you have a specialty, Spro.
03:11 Did you see Michigan's kicker today?
03:13 The guy was unbelievable.
03:15 - Yeah, I also saw Ohio State's kicker make a 52 yarder
03:19 then miss this game one.
03:21 - Okay, but Michigan's punter, I should refer,
03:25 both the kicker and the punter did well,
03:26 but the punter was unbelievable, right?
03:28 So we got a special teams issue.
03:31 We got a special teams issue.
03:32 Guess what our offense is ranked?
03:35 - 101.
03:36 - 117.
03:37 There's only 130 teams.
03:39 Guess what our defense is ranked?
03:40 Yeah, with alignment as a quarterback.
03:43 Literally the guys are aligned.
03:45 - 12.
03:47 - No, that's rushing defense.
03:49 But total defense, 14.
03:51 - 12, 14, not bad.
03:52 - So you've got this dichotomy.
03:54 You've got your special teams are not performing.
03:58 Your offense is not performing.
03:59 Guess who leads the FBFs in turnovers?
04:02 - Oh, it's Nebraska.
04:04 - Okay, right?
04:05 So you've got data that was just screaming the fact
04:10 that coaching is not happening at the level it should be
04:16 on the offense, the quarterbacks, the special teams,
04:20 and Matt Rowe is gonna make a really critical error.
04:22 And I hope Trev Albert steps in
04:24 and gets him to think about it.
04:26 Like you're the CEO, okay?
04:29 You've got your defense operating beautifully.
04:33 You're the worst turnover team in the country.
04:35 What are you gonna do about that?
04:37 Your special teams are terrible.
04:39 What are you gonna do about that?
04:40 Your defense is awful.
04:42 What, or sorry, your offense is awful.
04:45 What are you gonna do about that?
04:46 - Hold on.
04:47 How was your rushing offense this year?
04:50 - Decent, led the Big 10.
04:54 - Yeah, led the Big 10 in rushing.
04:56 Because people wanna point at Riola
04:59 and say it's an offensive line problem.
05:01 I was like, no, not an offensive line problem.
05:04 It's an offensive scheme problem.
05:07 That offensive scheme leads to bad special teams as well
05:09 because you put your teams in situations
05:12 where there's a desperation to what they do.
05:15 And I'm not saying that this is true,
05:17 but it seems like it.
05:18 Where year one is kind of a hall pass year.
05:23 Like nobody was expecting that we would even be competitive
05:28 for a bowl game, except for the optimism
05:31 that we saw at the beginning of the season.
05:33 It's like, you know, you've seen this pattern before.
05:37 One in 10 at Temple and one in nothing at Baylor.
05:41 And you know, terrible first years to implement
05:45 and then implementing a system.
05:47 So this was kind of a, you know, if they had made a ball, it was
05:50 just a bonus round, so it's important not to overreact to the data.
05:56 Because you know, you still have it fully, and you don't have your
05:58 guys, you haven't installed your system, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
06:02 Devastated by injuries offensively, not a lot of senior leadership.
06:06 I mean, if you look at the lineup for I bell yesterday was junior
06:10 junior, senior, senior, senior, senior, senior, senior, senior,
06:13 junior, sophomore, like there's no freshmen playing big roles on, on
06:19 defense and it's like, well, it's okay.
06:22 It's all right.
06:23 You know?
06:24 And yes, we cannot swap.
06:27 Listen, we are swallowing the bitter tears of optimism.
06:31 That's okay.
06:32 Well, that's okay.
06:33 These are bitter tears, but I'm still, I'd rather be here than
06:39 where we were last year, that's for sure.
06:42 I do think a coach rule gets, gets credit for, I think he's a good coach
06:47 and I think he has the team that's where, that's where I'll, I'll give
06:51 him Matt massive props versus Scott Frost.
06:54 This, this guy has the team with him.
06:56 Uh, as witnessed by tire tie Robbins coming back, we're going to have nine
07:00 starters returning off or defense.
07:02 Yeah.
07:02 Great.
07:03 The other thing is, I don't think he completely appreciated the wind factor.
07:07 You know, one of the first things that Tom Osborne talked about was
07:10 the wind and Nebraska and Satterfield.
07:13 God bless.
07:15 God blesses pointy little head is, is not equipped to sling the ball
07:22 all over the field with the quarterback that he wishes he had, but doesn't
07:25 with an offensive scheme that's not designed to take advantage of the wind.
07:28 And, and, you know, it puts your tight ends in a freaking locker box and buries
07:35 them in the middle of a field somewhere.
07:36 Like you can't, you have to throw to the tight end in this league.
07:40 It's like the, the, the it's too windy.
07:42 You know, you can attend a 10 yard out when the wind is blowing
07:46 is a really hard throw to make.
07:47 And that's what tight end is for.
07:49 They were way too focused on Billy Kemp and not enough on Fedoni.
07:55 No question.
07:55 But who knows what's behind that?
07:57 We, that's, that's one thing we can't, we can't see the
08:00 nuance behind those decisions.
08:01 Uh, although what we can see with our own eyes is a six foot five tight
08:06 head running down the middle wide open.
08:08 Yeah.
08:09 And you're not looking and you're not looking for him.
08:10 If he's not your first option, then he's your last option.
08:13 And it's like, I don't, I don't understand it.
08:16 Not to, not to be old fan boy and stuff like that, but it was amazing.
08:20 How many games is like tight ends open, tight ends, open, tight ends, open,
08:24 tight ends, open, and, and they're, and they're not, they're not keying on the
08:28 tight end and what does Iowa do with their crap tastic offense, tight end,
08:34 tight end, tight end, tight end.
08:37 And guess what they're going to the championship game and we're not.
08:39 They're 10 and two with the worst offense in the nation.
08:43 The, the, the last time this happened, the team had four with an
08:47 offensive batter, their team had four wins.
08:50 It's like, and, and so I'm kind of like, well, good, a good for you, Iowa.
08:57 And B here's the map people.
09:00 The reason why I, why, why Iowa has sent so many great tight ends to the NFL is
09:06 because they focus on the tight end and it's windy as heck in Iowa, just like it
09:11 is in Nebraska, get, you have to focus on the tight end, you have to give mad
09:16 respect for, for the parents family.
09:19 Um, I mean, because they know what they have and they play what they have.
09:23 Right.
09:24 Yeah.
09:25 And, um, and they just, they're just, you know, and they're consistent.
09:29 Nebraska could have been 10 and two this year with better coaching and, and,
09:34 and a better idea of what their identity is, you know, I wouldn't, I wouldn't
09:39 necessarily say 10 and two, I would say eight and four, seven and five, certainly
09:43 a six and six at least, but you know, some really, it's funny.
09:48 I was watching one of the games today and there, and the announcers are like
09:52 clock management is the key to success in college football and in the, and.
09:57 For whatever reason, clock management is maybe they treat that in the summertime
10:03 rather than taking it with the, with the real students, they took it in summertime
10:06 with all the high school kids and all the dropouts and stuff like that.
10:09 Trent Alberts want to hire a consultant to come in and teach clock management
10:14 like urban Meyer or somebody that's just like, guys, it seems like
10:19 they don't even think about it.
10:20 The explanations for the bad clock management are, um, always weak,
10:26 you know, I mean, they're just weak.
10:28 I hate that we've become so critical because this was this, when we started
10:31 at the outset, we started this podcast because we wanted to start fresh with
10:36 Matt rule era and it was just filled with hope, just like Scott Frost was when he
10:40 came, you know, and I've been, I've been a fan of this my entire life.
10:45 Okay.
10:46 Well, we talked to coach Osborne.
10:47 I was born in 1964.
10:49 He started in 1962.
10:50 So my entire life as Nebraska has been baptized in this team and this game.
10:56 And it's just, you know, we have eyeballs.
10:59 We can see.
11:00 Right.
11:01 Well, and then when you compare it to, you compare it to some of these other
11:04 programs, like the Michigan's and like, they just are disciplined.
11:07 They have a plan.
11:08 They stick to it, you know?
11:09 Um, and, and they don't turn the ball over 35 times a year.
11:14 You know, I will say this about that.
11:16 Uh, Nebraska had an imperfect hand, uh, lost a lot of players, senior
11:22 leadership, especially a wide receiver on office, their wide receivers,
11:26 frankly, weren't very good this year.
11:28 And so that kind of, when you have a offensive coordinator who is building
11:33 a plan to throw at a wide receivers, 85% of the time, you know, you're
11:37 not going to have a very good team.
11:38 And it's, it's a lack of flexibility on the part.
11:44 I think, I, I think that rule was sort of undone by Satterfield in so many ways,
11:50 but he's trying to protect the franchise.
11:52 He's like, Hey, listen, every responsibility is with me.
11:55 I'm this, you know, I'm the person who is responsible.
11:58 He's trying to deflect criticism from maybe where it rightfully needs to be.
12:02 But just think of it this way.
12:03 You know, if you were the CEO and you go around criticizing your head of sales,
12:08 it's not really a very good, it's not your job as the CEO, your job as this
12:12 knows to keep everybody positive.
12:13 I think rule ahead of himself beautifully in terms of the way he
12:16 handled the press and all the critiques that were coming across his desk.
12:20 But like, look, you've got now an opportunity to reset here, you know,
12:26 and you may or may not be able to keep your defensive coordinator.
12:29 And he, and he made this comment about like, well, we do want everybody
12:32 to learn a different offense.
12:33 Well, hell yeah.
12:35 I want somebody to learn a better offense than that.
12:37 The incongruous thing for me is how one week you can say, what are you going to
12:41 do, fire the coach and, and then run a bunch of whole new concepts for, and
12:46 then the following week he says, yeah, Tony should go out and get a new job
12:49 and be a head coach.
12:50 It's like, what would you be doing if that happened?
12:52 You would be fine, essentially firing the coach to get him kicked upstairs
12:56 and running a whole bunch of new plays.
12:58 It's like, can't have it, but you can't, you can't talk out of
13:01 both sides of your mouth.
13:02 So this is where, this is where Trev Alberts leadership is going to be.
13:07 It's like, come on and talk to me, Mr.
13:09 Rule.
13:09 First of all, we're saving your coach.
13:11 We're saving your defensive coach.
13:12 And then let's take it by, let's talk about what we're going to do to, you
13:16 know, address these issues on us and the special teams and the turnovers.
13:21 Uh, because we got, you, you've got, you know, you've got like one of four
13:25 things working, you know, and you're, you're a guy who's been a head coach
13:30 for 11 years and, and I think I give him two, I think he has the team.
13:35 I think he's doing three.
13:36 He's doing good on recruiting.
13:37 Good.
13:38 Seems like it seems like it, but in terms of the game elements, boy,
13:44 kicking, punting, defense, turnovers, quarterbacks, all like these are us, you
13:51 know, I, I think that we're being a little harsh and because we're frustrated
13:59 and we're, and we're sore, you know, these players didn't create the last
14:04 minute losses, you know, that that's, that's stuff that happened historically.
14:07 45 one game losses, one score losses in the last 10 years, 45.
14:12 Yeah.
14:12 But, but the 10 years ago, some of these players were nine years old.
14:16 So, you know, I can't really lay it on them.
14:21 So one of the writers, and this is not a more favorite part about, but a tad
14:26 striker here had come to look, this guy's a, you know, sports illustrating, you
14:30 know, like writer, um, those who consider the football program cursed no longer
14:39 seem as wildly irrational as they once did, because it does, it does seem like
14:44 there is a hall over this program that even somebody like Matt rule, who's
14:50 like a preacher and who's to give some of those best speeches I've ever heard.
14:54 Can't I mean, Bob, we lost the last, we lost three games and a walk off field
15:00 goal, three of the last four walk off field, which we, we turned the ball
15:05 over to give him the field goal.
15:06 Yeah.
15:07 Oh my God.
15:08 You can't make it up.
15:08 The camera is it's it's a statistical anomaly.
15:13 It's just, it's just, you run into these periods where it happens a lot and you're
15:17 not accounting for the conditions.
15:19 That's what it comes down to coaching in these conditions is difficult.
15:24 And you got to have somebody who can coach in these conditions.
15:27 Tom should tell Matt rule.
15:28 Wasn't kidding when he said there would be pain, but how
15:31 much can a fan base take?
15:32 Stukenholz.
15:34 What better way to summarize the 20 tweet 2023 Huskers, huh?
15:38 They played admirably until the end.
15:40 Just Nebraska season shouldn't have ended on Friday, but it did.
15:45 And we all know the defense is the reason why Meyer from the Daly, Nebraska
15:50 and the offense's inability to march down the field, really it's ugly head.
15:54 Once again, for the third time, this season, holding an opponent
15:57 to 13 points wasn't enough.
15:59 Man, you, that's the thing.
16:02 When you, when you hold an opponent, especially in the big 10 to 13
16:06 points, you got to win the game.
16:07 Yeah.
16:08 You got to win the game.
16:09 Listen, here's the thing.
16:12 You have three quarterbacks on the roster who play this year.
16:16 All three had turnover problems, which leads to one of two conclusions.
16:23 Number one, you just have a bunch of bad quarterbacks on the roster.
16:28 Or number two, you have a system that encourages turnovers.
16:31 I'm voting for number two.
16:34 They all three had the same issue.
16:37 Like, so is that because we were just unlucky with our quarterback selection?
16:42 Listen, Chubba bounced one off of his thigh, you know, he's running and
16:46 bounced it off of his thigh and fumbled it for a turnover.
16:49 It's like, it happens.
16:50 It is it's because of the system.
16:53 It's if you have multiple, listen, Jay, if you had a sales strategy and all three
16:58 salespeople had the same terrible results, you gotta be like, maybe I need to change
17:01 my strategy, either that, or I need to change my lineup completely.
17:05 So that's a decision that they'll have to make in the off season.
17:08 That would be a typical.
17:09 Trev Alberts is a data driven guy.
17:11 I mean, they're, they're going to look at this data on the off-season and
17:15 they're, they're going to be like, what the heck is going on here?
17:18 You know?
17:19 I don't know how, I don't know how they work.
17:22 You know, I don't know.
17:23 And the fact that we're talking about it is, you know, is evidence of the fact
17:29 that there's still a strong connection to the fan base.
17:31 I do think that something's going to happen.
17:34 Something will happen.
17:35 You know, kids are going to enter the portal portal.
17:38 Athletes are going to come this way.
17:40 We'll get a surprise recruiter too.
17:42 We'll have a surprise defection or two.
17:44 You know, who knows what's going to happen?
17:46 I don't even know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow.
17:49 Nevermind what's going to happen six months from now with the basketball.
17:51 So it's like, I know what you're, I know what you're going to have for lunch
17:54 tomorrow, because you're addicted to it.
17:56 Well, Ludo pizza.
17:58 Oh, hi.
18:03 I had to go to the sweatshop to detoxify today from all that
18:06 humble pie I had to eat yesterday.
18:08 I might have to go back tomorrow because it's not, still, I need more.
18:12 That was awesome by the way.
18:14 I did another cold punch today.
18:16 Oh where?
18:18 At Sauna Strong?
18:19 At Sauna Strong, yeah.
18:20 Sauna Strong, I dine in Minnesota.
18:22 You go into that sauna, it's 160 degrees.
18:25 You run outside and you jump into a pool of water where you
18:27 have to chip the ice off of it.
18:29 And it's like, yeah, I'm a, I'm a bad man.
18:32 I can do that.
18:33 Did Leslie go with you or did you do it by yourself?
18:34 Oh, hell no.
18:35 I did it by myself.
18:36 She's like, it was cold.
18:38 I'm like, no, it wasn't.
18:39 All mine.
18:39 Was there anybody, was there anybody there?
18:41 Yeah, there was people there.
18:43 So it was, it was good, you know?
18:46 And it's like, listen, it's a lot of it is sort of, you have to,
18:50 you have to break your conditioning.
18:52 If you're going to do cold plunges and dump in and jump into water with
18:55 an, a layer of ice on top of it.
18:57 And there's a lot of people who do it.
18:59 If you're not used to it, you just have to change your mindset.
19:02 I think it's awesome.
19:03 I think it's awesome that you're picking it up.
19:06 Well, you know, it's, it's listen, we ain't as young as we used to be at
19:10 anything, any cheat codes that we can get, you can personalize healthy.
19:14 I'm all over it.
19:15 Okay.
19:16 Something we got to cover here before we saw it.
19:18 Think about whatever your final, this is the last spot until the spring day.
19:22 Well, you know what, we'll do a bowl recap maybe.
19:26 And then we'll, we'll pick it up again.
19:28 Next, next, next, next, uh, next year.
19:30 We'll see.
19:32 Maybe, maybe if we can get a Matt rule interview,
19:35 do you think that if Matt rule watched our podcast, that he'd want to come up to us?
19:39 If no, but I think it'd be good.
19:42 Matt, Matt rule.
19:43 If you're listening, if you want to talk to us after this season, I would
19:47 think that you are the manliest man.
19:49 They yes, they're big, they're brass and they clank when you walk.
19:54 Well, look, I think he's the kind of guy that would face the music, you know,
20:00 and we're at super pubs, we do this cause we're fans.
20:03 We'd like 60 posts this year.
20:05 And we did it every time, every time when you lose four games in a row.
20:08 And you're like, you get, Oh God, I gotta go do the pot.
20:11 Here we go.
20:11 Well, we did it.
20:12 We were hanging in.
20:13 For those of you who don't know when Jay's upset, what he does is he
20:17 goes and he watches a war movie.
20:18 Doesn't matter.
20:19 It'll find, he'll find one.
20:21 So last night we watched the game.
20:24 He comes over the house and he immediately turns on a war movie.
20:28 Like, dude, we have guests here.
20:29 So you're watching a war movie.
20:31 I'm like, he must really be upset.
20:32 And like, turn it down.
20:33 So he goes, let me go to the basement.
20:35 So he goes to the basement.
20:36 He's all by himself in the basement.
20:37 We have guests all around.
20:38 Stockwell's in the basement watching a war movie.
20:40 Cause that's how, that's how, that's how upset he was.
20:44 Like, listen, I'm going to, I'm an adopted fan.
20:47 I'm a dilettante.
20:48 He's his blood is it's like, it's you can't cry over it.
20:53 Cause that's not very badly.
20:54 Yeah.
20:55 Yeah.
20:56 There's this college football's way crying over that.
20:58 It will get your perspective.
20:59 All right.
21:00 We will, I will commit.
21:01 I will commit.
21:02 If that rule will give us an off season interview, we'll give him three hours if
21:06 he wants, and we'll talk about everything.
21:08 I don't think that we have enough three hours of material.
21:11 So we would,
21:11 here's a serious outreach from a friend of mine, friend of ours.
21:17 Uh, Vern Cottle.
21:18 Vern is a lead singer.
21:21 As in a band I grew up with called the hipsters.
21:24 And he's now, I think he's older than me.
21:25 He's like six in his sixties and he's still playing.
21:27 I mean, he can play in this weekend.
21:29 Well, that he wrote, he wrote me this note and said, Jay, I'm dead serious about this.
21:34 Herbie and little rib are terrible mascots.
21:37 We need a professionally designed mascot that is a main whooping ear of
21:42 court, similar to these Amazon costumes, but more elaborate and meaner.
21:47 You have connections, you have a podcast, you can make it happen.
21:52 F Herbie F little red, go corn or GBR.
21:57 Yeah.
21:57 We have to start a movement.
22:02 Okay.
22:03 To get an angry ear of corn to be our new mascot.
22:07 As in this picture with these, these, these outfits from Amazon right here,
22:12 right here.
22:13 If you're a corn Husker and don't have a mullet, are you a real corn Husker?
22:17 I think it's in the back party in the back.
22:20 Yeah.
22:22 A more modern, a more modern, uh, mascot to shake the doldrums of the
22:27 past would be, would be welcome.
22:29 So I'll go leave it up to you.
22:30 That's your off season homework stock.
22:32 We'll find a new mascot.
22:33 Guess what I'm doing to improve my mood.
22:35 What's that?
22:36 In 30 minutes, a car service is picking the entire family up and we are going to
22:43 watch the number one Nebraska volleyball team just pound Minnesota into the ground.
22:49 Very nice.
22:51 Although they lost last night to Wisconsin.
22:53 Marianne, Marianne, come here.
22:55 I'm never dragging my kids into this podcast.
22:58 They'll dig, they'll dig this up one day after I'm dead.
23:02 Like let's Google who's you, who's you beat?
23:07 Our dad.
23:09 Our dad.
23:10 What?
23:10 What does it does a jerk?
23:12 Oh, could you, could this, could you just come and say hi to uncle Bob real quick?
23:15 Yeah.
23:16 Yeah.
23:16 Just, just show him your little outfit.
23:17 Just two seconds.
23:18 Just a sec.
23:19 Uncle Bob looked at what Marianne's wearing tonight to the volleyball game.
23:21 Oh yeah.
23:22 There you go.
23:23 It's like, are you go?
23:26 Yeah, you get out, but, but, but you've done your, you've done your duty.
23:30 Good job.
23:31 Good job.
23:31 Thank you.
23:32 So that's going to be an arrest volleyball player right there.
23:35 I'm telling you right now.
23:36 No pressure.
23:37 And no pressure.
23:37 No pressure.
23:38 No, no.
23:39 Hold on.
23:39 Guess who she's getting.
23:40 She's getting taught by Annie Glavo.
23:42 Former Nebraska, all American from Minnesota.
23:46 There you go.
23:48 This is her request and thank you to Blake Nixon for popping up his, his season
23:53 ticket.
23:53 So not bad for a Minnesota fan.
23:55 So, you know, that's, that's nice.
23:57 Although is he going to, is he going to put you in the Minnesota section?
23:59 You better be careful there Stark.
24:00 While you bring in the, on BTN tonight, watch the game word road shoe.
24:05 You're bringing the fuel rod with you, right?
24:07 Betsy's coming with you.
24:08 I'm not there.
24:11 So you behave yourself.
24:13 Are you going to wear your big seersucker jacket?
24:16 Yes.
24:17 Yes.
24:17 No.
24:17 And, and it's called, I'm wearing my red offer from the, uh, from the, uh,
24:22 Ireland game last year, I bought a red puff.
24:24 Don't bring that.
24:25 Don't bring that bad Juju in there.
24:28 We're like, we're like, you know, some else don't bring that in there.
24:33 So just yell off onside kick the entire time.
24:35 That was really fun.
24:36 This season is yelling onside kick at every opportunity just to watch
24:39 your pressure spike.
24:40 So let me just say, uh, at the outset, uh, before we sign off for the
24:47 year, uh, first of all, I want to thank David Max and I want to thank all of our
24:52 guests.
24:52 We had a limited number of guests this year, but we did have Des Moines Adams.
24:55 Of course, David Max was our foundational guest, uh, Vince Ferragamo, 10 miles.
25:02 And of course the great Tom Osborne, which was a super treat for both of us.
25:06 So let's not forget about Andrew Bunderman.
25:08 Of course, from, uh, from the out, the outpost and, uh, the service
25:13 distinguished service cross winner.
25:15 Uh, so I guess we had, we've had six guests.
25:17 So, uh, next year we're going to plan ahead a little bit more and, um, and
25:22 hopefully some of this feedback will, will like creep into the program and some
25:28 changes will be made and we'll be even better next year.
25:30 And I just, God help us that we can retain Tony white and law mix and all
25:34 improvements in the areas where we're fishing.
25:35 There's always a final state.
25:37 That's all great.
25:38 Wait till next year.
25:39 Wait till next year.
25:41 Anything you have to say?
25:43 I would say that I'm enormously hopeful for the future of the program
25:49 is disappointing as the season was.
25:52 It's still, I feel much, much better than where we've been in the past.
25:58 It seemed in mostly because the coach seems engaged, you know,
26:02 Scott Frost, God bless.
26:04 Just seemed like he was off in his own world and not
26:08 really interested in engaging.
26:10 And maybe I just read it wrong, but rule seems to want to connect.
26:14 And, and that's really all you could ask for in a coach that he
26:21 gives a crap about the fans.
26:23 I mean, of course his, his wins and losses.
26:26 More than anything he cares about.
26:28 First of all, he's a family guy.
26:30 I love that.
26:31 And he, and he, and he cares about the team and the players, you know?
26:35 Well, of course, every coach supposed to care about team of the players.
26:39 They care about the fans.
26:40 Some don't do this guy generally does run a good, run a good path.
26:44 I'm not, I'm not worried.
26:45 I'm disappointed, but not worried.
26:47 Let's put it this way.
26:49 I'm going to take him back next year.
26:50 So I might break up with him for the winter.
26:53 I'll take him back in the spring.
26:55 I'll take you back in the spring game coach.
26:59 So yeah, let's make it, we should make a plan to go to the spring game.
27:02 We have a formal invitation.
27:04 We would love to talk to pinch rules sometime between now and spring game.
27:08 When it's, when you've got some free time and really dive deep
27:11 with us on some of the stuff.
27:13 And, uh, but we, we think the world of you coach and you're doing a great job.
27:18 Just keep going and take a look at these, uh, data points.
27:21 It don't look so good and do what you can to fix them.
27:23 And if you can come to Minneapolis, if you play golf, bring your clubs
27:28 and Jay will treat you to a round of golf at a diner country club.
27:31 Oh, I don't know if he does it.
27:33 You know, I've never heard him talk about golf.
27:36 Um, even if he doesn't work, went up anyway, coach, coach Miles would,
27:40 would, was like, he was like, we golf from the minute, you know, from the draft.
27:44 So, but we'll listen, Bob, we got to take it out the way we always do.
27:49 And should we do it?
27:49 Like, should we do it at the same time?
27:51 Maybe as a final, well, neither one really, neither one really worked.
27:56 So why don't we do it?
27:58 I'll do it first.
27:59 And then you do it last because you, it's you, this is your wrap up.
28:03 You send us out on your style.
28:06 How's that sound?
28:06 Wait a minute.
28:07 So what do you want me to do?
28:08 You want me to go for, I'll call and you can't have to go big reds in a row.
28:13 Why can't wait?
28:14 That's twice as much energy, twice as much fun.
28:17 So, all right, you, you take us out stock.
28:19 Well, this is your baby.
28:21 I'm just the, I'm just the au pair.
28:23 You take us out.
28:24 Thanks to our backend people at Piper creative.
28:28 Thanks to Adam Paul sick for introducing me.
28:31 Uh, in particular, Randy, um, Nadera, um, meet a Mada Han, Hannah Phillips
28:38 and, uh, Adam Watson, Aaron Watson.
28:41 So, uh, great stuff and, uh, really appreciate all the support all year long.
28:46 Thank you.
28:46 All right, here we go.
28:49 Stop it.
28:56 Rad.
28:57 That's it.
28:59 All right.
29:00 This season's over.
29:01 We'll see you next season on Sunday morning quarterback, Nebraska edition.
