00:04 That's what China did to the two separate patrols of the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea.

00:11 Chino Gaston was shocked.

00:13 15 minutes were rotated yesterday, November 26, by Chinese jet fighters

00:21 while a Philippine Air Force patrol plane was conducting a maritime air patrol in the West Philippine Sea.

00:27 It was not affected by the mission of the Air Force Super Tucano Aircraft.

00:31 Before this, a Chinese naval vessel was sunk,

00:34 the joint maritime patrol conducted between Australia and the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea.

00:39 But the AFP did not question it.

00:43 "This is not the first time that this happened.

00:45 It happened between Japanese aircraft and Chinese aircraft,

00:52 US aircraft and Chinese aircraft, and this time with our own aircraft.

00:57 So this is not the first time that this happened.

00:59 This is the tactic of China over the South China Sea."

01:06 China previously said that all of their actions in the South China Sea

01:10 were in accordance with international law in their territory,

01:14 including some parts of the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines.

01:18 At the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum, Senator Ronald Bato de la Rosa said

01:23 that China does not want to use the United Nations Convention on the Laws of the Sea or UNCLOS

01:29 to solve the problems of China and the Philippines.

01:32 He said that it should return to the old mechanism of dispute resolution

01:35 such as amicable settlement and bilateral talks.

01:39 But Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. is not yet on board.

01:43 "This is my personal belief that formal bilateral discussions should only be held

01:49 when it is proven that they are sincere.

01:53 But the president himself has said their illegal activities continue unabated.

01:59 So to enter into bilateral negotiations and not talks,

02:05 in that context will be just, to me, playing into their playbook.

02:12 And it will be an attempt to constrain the Philippines from enforcing its claims

02:20 which it rightfully has under international law."

02:24 Meanwhile, the Philippines is continuing its multilateral approach

02:28 such as the coordination of maritime cooperation activities in the US, Australia, and other countries

02:34 where ships and airplanes are joining forces to patrol the Philippine Aegean Sea.

02:40 According to AFP, there is also ongoing talks in other countries

02:44 that want to join the joint patrols in the country.
