00:00 Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has been struggling with some turnover issues as of late.
00:05 Here today to break that down is SIL Lions' John Macro. John, give me your thoughts on
00:10 these turnover issues and what's been plaguing Goff over the last couple games.
00:14 Yeah, Cameron, this is the Goff that the Los Angeles Rams were willing to move on from.
00:20 It's unfortunate because the turnovers in any football game are costly,
00:24 but Jared Goff in two consecutive games has had three turnovers.
00:28 Last week it was interceptions, this week it was fumbles. And there's a lot of reasons why
00:33 Jared Goff put the football on the ground. One, the offensive line really struggled, Cameron.
00:38 The injury to Jonah Jackson, costing him the opportunity to play on Thanksgiving,
00:43 really hurt the team. You were forced to decide on playing rookie Colby Sorestal, and yeah,
00:50 he had been playing better, but against the Packers, he struggled mightily and was benched
00:54 for the entire second half. And you saw uncharacteristic bad performances by Taylor
01:00 Decker, Panay Sewell, and the entire offensive line really didn't do a good enough job.
01:04 So Jared Goff was facing pressure the entire game. And when Goff is pressured, he's unsettled,
01:09 he ends up putting the football on the ground. Give credit to the Packers defense. Rashaun Gary,
01:14 a really solid player, worthy of a big-time, long-term contract. And he definitely forced
01:19 a big key play where he knocked the football out of Jared Goff's hand and resulted in a direct
01:24 Packers touchdown. So for Jared Goff, he understands, Dan Campbell knows too,
01:28 you've got to play a much cleaner brand of football. If these turnover issues continue
01:34 for Jared Goff, it's going to put the Lions in a bind and it's going to make winning really that
01:39 much more difficult. Dan Campbell highlighted it. He wants his defense to force turnovers,
01:43 and he wants his team to limit those. And they've started to creep up. If you are on the opposite
01:50 side, the wrong side of the turnover battle, it's very hard to win in this league, Cameron.
01:54 And for Jared Goff, he's the leader of the football team. If he's the one making those errors,
01:59 it's going to be a real challenge for the Lions to meet their goals this year.
02:02 Yeah, and Jared Goff is going to have to perform better if they hope to continue their winning
02:06 ways. Thanks for all the insight.
