00:00 Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05 Let's pick up first of all on the rain across central and southern parts of England and
00:08 Wales. A warning is in force for that rain until 6pm this evening, all courtesy of a
00:13 deep area of low pressure. Strongest winds will be along the coast, we could see gusts
00:17 up to around 50mph, certainly gale force winds here, and the rain could cause some flooding
00:22 with the risk of disruption to travel. But notice through Thursday afternoon and evening
00:27 it clears towards the low countries and a quieter day all round on Friday.
00:32 Now let's have a look at Thursday morning. If you're waking up across central and northern
00:36 areas of Scotland, it's freezing cold. A frost here but some brighter weather. More cloud
00:41 further south across England, much of the Midlands, Wales as well as Northern Ireland
00:45 seeing some hazy sunshine. Here's that rain, anywhere from I'd say central, southern parts
00:51 of Wales southwards. Heavy pulses of rain through the morning causing problems during
00:56 the morning rush hour and also those strong winds. Tends to turn more showery through
01:00 the afternoon. At the same time, thickening cloud brings showery bursts of rain to western
01:05 parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, clipping Wales as well as the West Country later. Clearer
01:09 skies to end the day across central and northern areas of Scotland. A few showers continue
01:13 across eastern counties of England, Northern England as well seeing one or two. And through
01:18 Thursday evening, this showery rain continues its passage eastwards. It will tend to fragment
01:23 overnight and what that means, some drier interludes coming through. At the same time,
01:29 one or two showers just filing in from Irish Sea coast into the early hours of Friday morning.
01:34 And again, the chance of a frost, particularly across the north where we could actually see
01:37 some fog patches yet again. So a bit of a cloudy start for some on Friday morning, certainly
01:42 towards more northern and eastern areas of England, southern parts of Scotland, Northern
01:46 Ireland seeing that cloud break and any showers across Wales as well as the West Country through
01:50 Friday morning tending to ease. And that means a fine afternoon for most with some sunny
01:55 spells, a lighter breeze. But notice what's happening towards the southwest. The clouds
01:59 will slowly thicken, the first of the rain arriving across the Scilly Isles far southwest
02:04 of Cornwall through the latter part of Friday. Before that though, temperatures arriving
02:07 around 7 to 11, 12 degrees Celsius and then it turns wet and windy on Saturday, blustery
02:12 showers to follow on Sunday. See you later. Have a lovely day.
