Transcript
00:00 >> I'm doing good.
00:01 >> I mean, you have one of the biggest plays in Husky interception history.
00:05 >> Yeah. >> And you pay for it instead of celebrate
00:07 it. >> Yep.
00:08 >> How are you doing about from all of that?
00:10 >> I'm doing great.
00:10 It's a learning moment.
00:11 I 100% own it.
00:12 Lack of awareness on my part.
00:15 And we just wanna know from there.
00:16 Thank God for my teammates, my death row teammates being able to come and
00:19 just lift me up in that moment.
00:21 My mindset was already kind of made up in terms of what I had to do,
00:23 cuz we had a quarter left to play.
00:25 So just fixing my mind, bosses getting the love of my teammates,
00:28 appreciation for them.
00:29 But yeah, just 100% on me, just gotta be better than that and
00:32 just learn from it, growth moment.
00:33 >> And you just hit the one or two and thought you were in the end zone.
00:36 Is that pretty clear?
00:37 >> Yeah, at the end of that big moment, I was like, damn, I finally can score.
00:42 Crucial moment, get my team up.
00:44 But yeah, just gotta learn from that, 100% on me.
00:46 >> How much of a sigh of relief was there on the next play when you guys got
00:50 to safety?
00:51 >> My teammates came up.
00:52 So like I said, when I went on the sideline, thank God for them.
00:55 That's what's so great about this team is that the connections and
00:57 relations that we build with each other, we're intentional with it.
01:00 So when I got on the sideline, I didn't really have time to get in my feelings.
01:03 I was never going to, but just my teammates coming right to me,
01:06 literally a second later telling me, we got you, we got you.
01:09 We're gonna get this, we're gonna get this.
01:10 So when it happened, there you go.
01:12 That's what team football is all about.
01:15 That's what the brotherhood is about.
01:16 And just a good learning moment for me and just also my teammates and
01:19 then being able to come out with a dub.
01:21 >> Have you tried to avoid social media and seeing it?
01:24 >> Yeah, so when I came back, I wasn't even gonna pay attention to that.
01:27 Outside noise is what it is.
01:29 People are gonna do that whether you want it or not.
01:30 >> When you got that interception, was it deflected to you?
01:33 I kept looking at the tape and I couldn't tell.
01:34 >> Yeah, so basically it was one of the trick plays that we didn't really see
01:39 on film that Utah had a tight end blocking and then it was a delay on him.
01:43 So I was a whole player in that.
01:44 We was playing cover one and I was just right in the area and he tipped it.
01:48 Quarterback kind of threw it behind him and I was right there.
01:50 >> So he touched it, not one of your guys?
01:52 >> No, he tried to throw it to the tight end though, tight end wide delay, but
01:55 the tight end was right here and he didn't throw it on point and
01:59 it hit him in the hand, I was right there.
02:02 >> You as a leader on this team, I went back and
02:04 looked, you're just one of four guys that started every single game in the DeBoer era.
02:08 >> Yeah.
02:09 >> It's like three offensive guys, pennix, two tackles, and you.
02:12 >> Yeah. >> And that's kind of a badge of honor,
02:14 wouldn't you say?
02:15 >> Yeah, it is. Just being able to, man,
02:16 just taking it one day at a time, one step at a time.
02:18 Gratitude is a big thing for me, just having my faith in God.
02:22 So I think just with this whole situation, that's where my head,
02:24 that's why my head space is really good.
02:25 Just being able to focus on my family, my goals, and
02:29 learn from my mistakes and then grow, just wanna know.
02:31 >> So do you have to get another pick six now?
02:33 Is that your goal?
02:34 >> That's always the goal every game, man.
02:35 That's always the goal, whether pick six, fumble,
02:37 any way I can help my team win, that's gonna be what's gonna happen.
