00:00 What is up guys? We are out here at Windrock Park.
00:02 Everybody else is out in Montana playing, so I thought, you know, screw it, it's Friday.
00:06 I'm gonna go play too.
00:08 Brought out the Can-Am Commander XT 2023.
00:12 This is the 700 and how about a quick 5 things we hate, 5 things we love.
00:18 Let's check it out.

00:27 Number 1. This is a good looking rig.
00:31 You know, little 700s, the middleweight guys tend to be, you know, kind of stodgy.
00:36 This is not that. It's got the same handsome lines as its bigger brother.
00:40 This is the XT, so big, big, gnarly, bumper-y thing.
00:45 Halogen lights, that might have to go in the hate category.
00:48 But you do get neat little LED character lights there, which are cool.
00:54 Number 2. Full doors.
00:57 Why are full doors important?
00:59 Well, it's mud season here in East Tennessee, and as you can see with the short ride up the way,
01:07 this thing's still clean. Don't find the runner strip there.
01:11 Still clean inside, which means you stay clean and dry.
01:14 You've got thick, gooey weather stripping here that keeps a lot of water out unless you are seriously up in it.
01:22 That's great. Love it.
01:25 Number 3. A 4,500 pound winch.
01:31 Number 4.
01:33 This sucker is cheap. $16,799, I think is the MSRP.
01:38 That's not bad. You know, we live in the age where you can spend as much money as you want to on a side-by-side,
01:47 and this one comes in at pretty reasonable.
01:51 How about a number 5?
01:53 Number 5. This is a good rig. There's no other way to say it.
01:57 It is deceptively capable. It makes 52 horsepower, I think,
02:02 which in the year of our Lord, 2023, when you can buy a 225 horsepower naturally aspirated Broar,
02:10 that's not a lot.
02:12 But we've had this thing out on some pretty sticky trails, and it just doesn't give up.
02:19 It doesn't lay down. It keeps going. It's got just enough horsepower, just enough torque to have a whole lot of fun.
02:26 Yeah, you know, screw it. How about a bonus round?
02:29 Bonus round is the dump bed.
02:32 Who doesn't love a dump bed?
02:35 Gas assist, great.
02:38 In terms of a rig that is both utility and recreation, nothing better.
02:45 You can load it up with firewood, you can load it up with feed, whatever you need, you're good to go.
02:51 Downside, no city on tailgate. That's hate thing number 1.
02:57 If you see a tailgate, you're gonna sit on it, 'cause we Americans.
03:00 Things we hate number 2.
03:03 This is your cup holder.
03:05 That, that, what, what?
03:08 So, what, what, what, what?
03:10 Sit in here.
03:11 This, let me just reach down.
03:15 And that's definitely not gonna fall.
03:17 Okay, alright.
03:19 Things we hate number 3.
03:22 Alright, we're getting nitpicky, but on a good rig, you get nitpicky.
03:25 Fuel cap, okay, alright, a little mud protection, that's nice.
03:29 Don't love the fact that, you know, there's not more, like a door or something, but whatever.
03:33 The real problem, there's no tether.
03:36 The odds of someone dropping that and losing that, pretty high.
03:41 Number 4.
03:44 Okay, alright, a little storage cubby guy, we like that.
03:49 Decently, decently sized, pair of gloves, phone, whatever.
03:52 No weather stripping.
03:55 You know, you got a little channel here and a drain, but what goes in there is gonna get wet.
04:00 Number 5.
04:02 This is a smaller rig.
04:04 You know, the double-edged sword of a 700 is that it's tiny.
04:11 So, it weighs just under 1700 pounds, which is generally a good thing.
04:15 But if you were a bigger person, you're not gonna be super cozy in here.
04:20 I'm 5'11", 180-ish pounds, and another me would probably be rubbing shoulders in here.
04:28 If you like your riding partner, not a problem.
04:32 If you don't, gonna be a problem.
04:35 One more bonus, one more bonus? Okay, here we go.
04:37 Like all CVT rigs, the shifter on this guy is not great.
04:44 You got a plasticky guy here, she sort of flunks it around.
04:49 If you have to really be looking at what you're doing to make sure that you're in the right gear,
04:52 or you get some pretty terrible, terrible gear-on-gear noises.
04:57 All that said, when it comes right down to it, the measure of a rig is if I would buy it or not.
05:04 And the answer is 100% yes.
05:07 I dig this little machine.
05:09 It goes everywhere, you can tow it with literally anything.
05:12 You got a minivan, you got a Camry, put a hitch on it, you can tow that little sucker.
05:17 It keeps up with machines that make twice the power, sometimes three times the power, without giving up.
05:25 And there's something deeply joyous about being the guy in the plucky little rig.
