Govt to engage all MPs for best outcome on citizenship law, says Home Minister

Disagreements over amendments to citizenship law among lawmakers will be handled through an internal mechanism, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.  He said engagements would be held between government and Opposition MPs to get their feedback on the proposed amendments. 00:09 The process after we have delivered the speech,

00:12 to ask for approval from the King's Council, we have done that.

00:15 And the next step is,

00:19 we will issue a paper to the Ministerial Council.

00:22 That's the process.

00:24 And when the agreement is reached,

00:29 the Ministerial Council will deliberate on those matters,

00:32 based on the draft that was made

00:35 by the Ministry of the Interior,

00:38 and the Cabinet,

00:40 because we have the power of the State's Family Transition,

00:43 which is functioned by the Minister of the Interior,

00:45 and involves several other Ministers.

00:48 So our results have reached the draft,

00:53 the proposal has been submitted to the King's Council.

00:56 Then, as soon as the King's Council has approved,

01:00 we will submit it to the Ministerial Council.

01:04 From there, the Ministry of the Interior will prepare the draft,

01:09 in terms of the law.

01:12 The draft is prepared by the Ministry of the Interior.

01:14 And then we will review our timeline,

01:18 to submit it to the Parliament.

01:22 At the same time, the session is handled

01:24 by all the relevant parties,

01:27 especially the 222 Parliamentary Members.
