00:00 For Bama Central.com I'm Will Miller here with Matt Matthew Gibson for
00:04 another edition of the extra point segment.
00:07 We're gonna take on a topic that's only gonna pick up more and
00:09 more steam over the next couple of weeks.
00:12 And that is after another great performance in which he etched his name in
00:15 his school record books against Kentucky this past weekend.
00:19 Is Alabama quarterback Jalen Milrow now in the Heisman Trophy conversation?
00:24 >> I think he is well now I don't think Milrow is a serious contender to win it.
00:29 It's gonna be really hard to pass a guy like Michael Pinnock or like Bo Nix,
00:33 even Caleb Williams at this point or Jaden Daniels.
00:36 But for Milrow, I think he's a guy that as he's gotten better throughout the course
00:39 of the season, I think he's someone that could definitely find his way into maybe
00:43 getting an invite to New York.
00:45 But at the very least being able to receive a couple votes maybe for
00:48 third place votes, fourth place votes, whatever it may be.
00:50 I don't think he's a serious threat to win it.
00:52 But it's unquestioned that Milrow has been able to improve it throughout
00:55 the course of the season.
00:56 He's up to 16 touchdowns passing, 16 interceptions.
00:59 I believe 12 touchdowns on the ground, 333 yards rushing.
01:02 He had six touchdowns versus Kentucky, the game where I was at and
01:06 just watching Milrow.
01:07 His progression throughout the year has been really impressive.
01:10 I don't think he is a legitimate candidate to win the Heisman though.
01:13 But he should be a guy that should be on radars to receive a few votes and
01:17 I think he will.
01:18 >> I think this is a two horse race right now between Michael Pinnocks and
01:25 Jaden Daniels and the main question on my mind is whether voters will overlook
01:30 LSU's number of the lost column and still give it to Jaden Daniels.
01:36 I don't know, anybody's game I feel like.
01:38 If they invite five candidates,
01:40 I could very easily see Jaylin Monroe getting the nod to go to New York,
01:43 which would be a really cool thing.
01:44 I mean, we've talked at length here on this program about everything that
01:49 he's overcome and the improvements he's made week to week just while staying
01:52 committed to that, just getting better time in and time out which he's done.
01:56 He set multiple school records over the past couple of weeks,
01:59 picked up key SEC victories, helped Alabama officially clinch the West this
02:02 past Saturday.
02:02 So I mean, even if he's not in New York or the only votes he gets are some down
02:06 ballot votes, still an incredible rate of progression.
02:10 And absolutely nothing to suggest that he won't be at or
02:14 near the top of these watch lists next season.
02:17 >> Yeah, I think he should be.
02:18 I mean, coming into next year,
02:19 I think Milrow should be a favorite to win the Heisman.
02:21 I mean, if he's progressed like he has this year and
02:23 takes another step forward next year over the course of the offseason,
02:26 I don't see why Jaylin Monroe couldn't be a Heisman candidate.
02:29 I mean, he's gonna have all the tools back next year.
02:31 He's gonna have guys like Nye Black and a strong backfield in the offensive line.
02:37 He's gonna be able to just keep getting better.
02:38 And I think for Milrow, again, he's had his fair share of struggles throughout
02:42 the course of the season early on.
02:44 But as we've hit the home stretch down the course of the season towards the end of
02:47 the year, I really do think Milrow has just improved drastically.
02:50 And I think Alabama fans should be excited for
02:53 the future with Milrow as their quarterback.
