Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe talks about his six-touchdown performance against Kentucky.
Transcript
00:00 >> No, I'm nowhere near finished, I got a lot of stuff I gotta fix.
00:05 Not satisfied with that performance, I got a lot of things I gotta improve on.
00:08 >> What is it like when you and Terry on, you guys are so close,
00:11 you both have a game like that together, is that extra special for you?
00:14 >> Yeah, playing with your brother, that's a special moment.
00:18 And I love the process of going along together, and
00:23 I love seeing him grow and I love seeing him ball up.
00:25 >> When you went down, I think it was the first quarter, what happened there and
00:28 why were you able to come back so quick?
00:30 >> Just a little more trying to play for my teammates, there's a lot of game left,
00:34 so they're trying to get it back on the field as much as fast as possible.
00:37 >> Is there like a choice now,
00:38 are you feeling the way you're seeing that you just look so
00:40 much more comfortable coming in from say the first couple games?
00:44 >> I think experience is the best teacher, so the more reps I get,
00:47 the more opportunities I have, I think I've seen everything much better.
00:51 But then again, I gotta improve and get better,
00:53 cuz I'm not a good player, so I still gotta learn and grow.
00:57 >> So after a six touchdown performance,
00:59 you're not set in place with your game today?
01:00 >> No, I'm real frustrated, I got a lot of things I gotta fix and get better at.
01:04 >> What was frustrating?
01:06 What was frustrating?
01:06 >> That I missed a couple things down the field, missed some balls,
01:10 that I shouldn't be missing, hold myself to a high standard.
01:13 So I gotta improve and fix some things.
01:16 >> How important was it to you the way your guys,
01:18 your teammates rallied around you after those first couple games?
01:21 And obviously, you can see that now, you talk to Terry on,
01:24 they talk about you and the way you've come along.
01:26 >> Yeah, we talk about team, that's the biggest thing here.
01:30 We talk about team, we preach on that, and then we also talk about doing our job.
01:33 But those guys, I play for them.
01:36 There's no individual effort, it's all a team effort.
01:39 And I think that's the biggest thing that we all know in the locker room,
01:42 is that we can't do it by ourselves.
01:44 It takes all 11 guys who ever is on the field.
01:46 And we're constantly growing, so I'm loving the guys' spirit, and
01:49 I'm loving how we're growing together.
01:51 >> Terry on said that there was actual rat traps in the locker room and
01:54 around practice.
01:55 First of all, was that true?
01:56 And did you step on them, did you avoid them?
01:59 >> That was definitely different.
02:00 As we got on, we got used to it, but at first it was kind of weird seeing all
02:03 the rat traps all throughout the facility.
02:05 >> So Coach was even saying he knew there were a lot of naysayers out there
02:10 back in week one, week two, and the way you guys have worked and got to this.
02:15 How pleasing or how satisfying is that for you guys to get to where you are right now?
02:18 >> All motivation, all motivation for us.
02:21 Cuz we knew there was gonna be a long process.
02:23 We set short term goals, we set long term goals.
02:26 And they're all achievable.
02:28 But the biggest thing we have to acknowledge is that we have to do our job.
02:31 We have to do our job and we have to focus on the task at hand.
02:34 And not worry about external factors,
02:37 more worrying about things that's gonna allow us to grow as a team.
02:40 So I think that's the biggest thing for us.
02:42 >> One more question.
02:42 >> How's your leg feeling?
02:43 And how is it managing that throughout the game?
02:45 >> We won, so I'm real proud of that.
02:47 I mean, enjoy it.
02:48 Can't wait to get to Tuscaloosa and enjoy the win.
02:50 >> Thanks, Jaylen, appreciate it.
