00:00It's time for the Tuesday tailgate and to help us out with that we bring in as always
00:21Carter Freeman who also got a vote in the great Christmas movie bracket which will be
00:29coming at you on Thursday. I thought you were going to say I got a Heisman vote. Oh that would be neat.
00:34Okay fine, you get a Heisman vote. Who would you have voted for? I would have voted for
00:38Ash and Gentee. Okay. And I don't think I was the only person that felt that because
00:43when we saw the results of the Heisman race on Saturday it was a lot closer than I think
00:48a lot of people expected. Now to your point it was the closest margin of victory since
00:532009 however cut number 12 I'm sure you know by now this is how it played out. It is my
01:00honor to announce that the 2024 Heisman award goes to Travis Hunter. So look you can pick
01:12out stats to make a lot of things kind of go your way but this one I saw and Ash and
01:18Gentee said he should have walked away with the award which that's fine I appreciate your
01:22confidence and your own abilities but you look back at Derrick Henry 2,200 yards Heisman
01:27Ricky Williams 2,100 Heisman Ron Dane 1,800 Reggie Bush 1,700 Mark Ingram a little bit
01:33less than 1,700 Heisman Heisman Heisman Ash and Gentee almost 2,500 second place. It's
01:39not often that you have two historic seasons like this year and to a lot of you know big
01:47college football writers have been writing like I think in 15 of the last 20 years Ash
01:51and Gentee beats the field like he's just that much better but yeah I mean not only
01:56is Travis Hunter an amazing player a totally deserving Heisman winner I don't want to say
02:00he's not he doing what he did on both sides of the ball is incredible I think having him
02:06be in so many primetime games with coach prime as his coach I think that helps too he's so
02:11he's so marketable he's so front-facing he's on the cover of the NCAA college football
02:16game that just came back this year like I think a lot of people voted for him deservingly
02:22but like his just marketability and him being everywhere I think benefited him more than
02:27a guy who plays for Boise State and that's why I wanted to throw out I saw some people
02:33like Travis Hunter was an average receiver I was like okay well he's he lead led the
02:37Big 12 in several categories didn't he win the Bolitnikoff for best receiver or if not
02:43was he a finalist I don't remember if he won but he was absolutely a deserving finalist
02:48so yeah he was an excellent receiver if you think Ash and Gentee is better totally fine
02:53I totally understand that but I hate that instead of pushing Ash and Gentee like you
02:58just were people seem to be tearing down Travis Hunter instead I can be like well you could
03:03just say that Ash and Gentee you thought was better and had a better season and had better
03:07qualifications but I mean Hunter still had an amazing year he did and he did win the
03:12Bolitnikoff Travis Hunter did win the Bolitnikoff I do want to get that correct but yeah it's
03:16just it's like I said you don't often have two absolutely historic amazing seasons and
03:22someone's got to come in second place
