00:00 All right, happy Wednesday.
00:01 Welcome to another edition of Behind the Points,
00:03 presented by Betfred Sports.
00:04 I'm Travis Justice.
00:06 If you want to participate in tonight's show,
00:07 there's a number of ways to do it.
00:08 First of all, you can call in and ask your questions.
00:11 402-543-5556.
00:13 It's 402-543-5556.
00:16 If you're watching on YouTube,
00:17 or you're watching on Facebook,
00:19 you can always just use the comment section,
00:21 leave your comments,
00:22 and also ask your questions right there.
00:24 We're going to be here over the next half hour or so,
00:26 take a look at four college football games,
00:28 but if we don't touch the four that you're thinking about,
00:31 well, you can always ask questions
00:32 because we have brains on the show.
00:35 No, not me.
00:36 We have brains on the show.
00:37 The brains of the show are the ones you see right now.
00:41 The big brain is wearing an old school Nebraska sweatshirt,
00:45 one from his playing days.
00:46 Stand up, Rob.
00:47 Look at that.
00:48 That's an old number 56.
00:49 That means that thing's like 30 years old.
00:52 That's like 30 years old.
00:54 It's not even like,
00:55 it's not even like ruffled and feathered on the collar.
00:59 It's looked like he just took it out of the package.
01:01 - Which is funny because I think my oldest daughter
01:04 wore this sweatshirt like all through middle school
01:07 and high school and half a college down at Florida State.
01:10 The, it's, this is, this is like an original,
01:15 I got to look, it's either a Russell
01:17 or an old original champion sweatshirt.
01:19 I mean, these were built, they were bulletproof.
01:23 - Is Russell and champion even in business anymore?
01:27 - I'm like 99% sure champion is.
01:30 It's like, actually my kids have told me champion
01:32 is now like the cool thing.
01:33 - Oh, what's once was cool goes out of style
01:37 is now cool again, right?
01:38 - All I know it's like,
01:39 they're like the cockroaches of sweatshirts.
01:43 These things would go through a nuclear war and survive.
01:46 - Scott Spreicher is the other brain of the show.
01:49 And hello, Scott, how are you doing tonight, man?
01:51 - I'm doing well, guys.
01:52 How's it going?
01:53 - What are you going to do to piss South Omaha off tonight?
01:55 - Man, that was you, come on.
01:58 - Wait a second, who pissed on?
02:00 - No, nobody, it ended up being this great discussion
02:03 about great fish joints in South Omaha.
02:05 I mean, it just, it was a trip down memory lane.
02:07 So it was-
02:08 - Remember Rob, I said that, I said that I, you know,
02:12 he talked about Omaha and Bellevue and Omaha and Ralston
02:14 and all that stuff being basically the same thing.
02:17 And I had to tell him that, you know,
02:18 when I grew up in Bellevue, there was maybe,
02:20 I mean, 20, 25,000 people there.
02:22 There was a significant difference
02:25 when you crossed into Bellevue from Omaha.
02:27 Apparently there's not anymore.
02:29 - Oh no, there's a difference.
02:30 You know, when you get into Bellevue,
02:32 it's just, they just kind of merge into one, right?
02:34 - There's no, there's no line.
02:36 I mean, you're just driving and all of a sudden, like-
02:40 - You're in Sarpy County.
02:42 - Yeah, it's like you cross Harrison and yeah,
02:45 you're in, there you go.
02:48 I was there, what was that Travis,
02:50 when you invited me back and-
02:51 - God, that was 15 years ago.
02:53 - I was going to say, yeah, like maybe 2008,
02:55 something like that.
02:56 And that was the first time I had been there
02:58 in about since like '92 or '93.
03:01 And I was staying, I don't know if it's still called
03:02 the Hilton, but it was the Hilton up there by,
03:05 after you leave Epley Airfield and then you go cross over
03:07 more of the baseball stadium and the basketball arena are now.
03:10 So we stayed at the Hilton there.
03:11 And I think probably, I don't know, the Sunday,
03:16 the day after I went to the game,
03:17 they were playing Missouri that day.
03:18 And we drove down to my Bellevue and I had no clue.
03:23 I got on the Kennedy Freeway,
03:26 like we used to do in the '80s.
03:28 I had no idea where I was.
03:29 I'm like, I could have ended up in Papillion,
03:32 I wouldn't have known.
03:32 It was so different from, let's say 1990 to 2008.
03:37 I can only imagine what it's like now,
03:38 another 15 years later, I'd be completely lost.
03:42 - It's just, I mean, there's no differentiation.
03:44 I mean, it's just, it's not like you leave one area
03:47 and go into another.
03:49 There's no dividing line, it's just.
03:51 - So full disclosure for tonight,
03:54 if my cheeks are a little rosy and red,
03:55 I was at a scotch tasting before I got here.
03:58 So I'm feeling no pain.
04:01 I had a McAllen 18 that was really, really good.
04:05 I know, I think that's a pretty good scotch, isn't it?
04:07 McAllen 18? - Absolutely.
04:08 Yeah, sure.
04:10 - They told me it's like $400 a bottle.
04:11 So I'm like, okay, that must be a really good scotch.
04:15 Before we get started tonight,
04:17 if you wanna work directly with Scotch Sprites,
04:18 you can do so.

04:55 Use the promo code PARLAY.
04:58 And now here are the four games
05:00 we're gonna be taking a look at tonight.
05:02 Four really good ones.
05:03 It's a pretty decent week in college football.
05:05 Ole Miss is gonna be visiting Georgia,
05:07 Michigan under a microscope,
05:09 and we can get into that maybe a little bit,
05:10 but the Wolverines are at Penn State.
05:13 Rutgers, Iowa, in what might be the lowest point total
05:17 in college football history.
05:19 And of course, Nebraska is going to be in action
05:21 on Saturday as the Maryland Terrapins come to town.
05:26 Scott, how do you balance this type,
05:29 before we dive into this,
05:30 how do you balance college basketball?
05:33 There was 100 games on Monday,
05:35 along with college football.
05:37 How do you balance all this?
05:39 - Yeah, I started working on college basketball
05:41 about a month before the season began.
05:43 So around, I'm gonna say October 1st,
05:46 and then what you have to do that final weekend
05:48 is go in there and look at,
05:49 if anybody's been injured in practice,
05:51 some of the exhibition games, all that kind of stuff.
05:53 If somebody got ticked off on a coach
05:55 and decided they're out, whatever.
05:57 And so yeah, Sunday I started working,
06:00 and remember I'd been doing this for about a month.
06:03 Sunday I started working on Monday's games.
06:05 And by the way, the first Monday game
06:07 started at 8 a.m. my time, 8 a.m. Pacific.
06:10 And they went all the way up until about 11 p.m. Pacific.
06:13 And I started working about 10 o'clock on Monday night,
06:16 nine or 10 o'clock, I got done about 5 a.m.
06:18 So it was, that first week of college basketball
06:22 can really kick your butt sideways, man, I'm telling you.
06:24 And you're also, you gotta still do what you do for football,
06:28 college and pro football, plus NBA, plus NHL.
06:32 What I did to try to free things up about,
06:34 oh, not too long ago, is I just dumped soccer.
06:38 I'm like, that's enough.
06:39 'Cause I was doing Bundesliga, MLS, Serie A, La Liga,
06:44 all that stuff, EPL, and it was an hour a night,
06:48 and I just didn't have the time anymore.
06:49 And it was my least successful sport as a batter,
06:52 and I just finally said, that's it.
06:54 - Remember kids, if you have a gambling problem,
06:57 call 1-800-BETS-OFF.
06:58 (laughing)
07:00 - Did you, hey, Travis?
07:01 - Yes.
07:02 - So Scott sent us kind of some,
07:04 like an information breakdown on--
07:07 - And they're coming up in all the games, but yeah.
07:10 - I'm not gonna talk about like the actual info,
07:13 but he sent us like all of that breakdown in an email.
07:16 Did you see when he sent that email?
07:18 - You know why I sent it?
07:19 Because I was up when he sent it.
07:21 I replied to him immediately.
07:23 Yeah, because--
07:24 - What were you doing?
07:25 That was at 2.30 in the morning.
07:27 - I know. - Our time.
07:29 - I know, because what happened was--
07:31 - I'm sorry, it was 4.30 in the morning our time,
07:34 which actually, which by the way, Trav,
07:37 you and I are both up at 4.30 in the morning.
07:39 - I was up at 3.30 today. - That's not as big a deal.
07:42 Scott was up at 2.30 in the morning when he sent that email.
07:46 - 'Cause he's the hardest working man in sports betting,
07:48 that's why. - He is, he doesn't sleep.
07:50 - And the last thing he thought of before he went to bed--
07:52 - Two hours a night, that's all Scott sleeps.
07:54 - And the last thing he thought of before he went to bed
07:56 was I need to email Travis and Rob.
07:58 I mean, think about that.
08:00 - Which makes perfect sense to me.
08:01 - He dreamt about it, this is what happened.
08:03 - Well, listen, I know it's important,
08:05 but also you know how this happened?
08:07 I'm a Churchill fan, I'm a Bob Dylan fan.
08:09 Those guys never slept or sleep,
08:11 one of them's not here anymore.
08:13 And so I follow their, I look at like a guy like Nick Saban
08:17 and I see like a little Debbie for breakfast
08:20 with a cup of coffee.
08:21 It's all about routine and I try to study the best
08:24 and I end up with six hours of sleep at night
08:27 and I'm pretty happy.
08:28 - Hey, let's dive into the first game of the night.
08:30 Going down to the SEC, this is a good one.
08:32 And Ole Miss really suffers on defense, the Rebs do,
08:37 but they got a hell of an offense.
08:38 They're going to Georgia.
08:39 Georgia an 11 point favorite, the over-under on this at 58.
08:43 - It's been interesting calling an offense
08:47 throughout the course of the season,
08:48 not that they were anything bad or beyond,
08:51 but they had to work Carson Beck into the whole mix
08:53 and they chose to try to run and develop the run
08:56 during the game a little bit more often earlier in the year
08:58 and safety route type passes for Beck early on.
09:01 And they've opened things up a little bit more
09:03 as the season has progressed,
09:05 as good coaching staffs would do with the guy.
09:07 And he's sitting over 72% on the season now of his passes.
09:10 He's got an average of about nine yards per attempt,
09:13 16 touchdowns, only four picks.
09:15 And they've kind of opened things up.
09:17 And on the flip side, Jackson Dart for Ole Miss,
09:20 16 touchdown passes, four picks, just like Beck.
09:23 And they can run the football.
09:25 They're averaging almost 40 points per game.
09:27 Guys, I think you're gonna see a lot of scoring in this one.
09:30 It went from 56 and a half all the way up to 58.
09:33 And although you're gonna see on your screen there,
09:35 some of the sides and the angles with some of the sides
09:38 that I gave out or sent to you guys at 2.30 in the morning,
09:41 I do like the total a little bit more.
09:43 I think it's gone in the right direction,
09:45 going up a point and a half.
09:46 And I still think it has room to go.
09:48 I think this game is gonna land in the low 60s.
09:50 And you can see their conflicting angles,
09:53 how good Georgia is, you know,
09:55 as a home favorite of 10 and a half to 21.
09:57 And then how bad they are in a certain situation
10:00 when they're at home off of those three
10:02 conference wins in a row.
10:04 And so what happens to Georgia,
10:06 to explain that last one where they're one and nine
10:07 against the spread, it's obviously not the fault of Georgia.
10:10 They tend to win a few more games than they lose.
10:13 It's the fact that they become,
10:14 after beating conference opponents three weeks in a row,
10:17 they become such a premium if you wanna play them,
10:19 that the books keep pushing that line up
10:22 a little bit more and a little bit more.
10:24 And it's like Duke when Mike Krzyzewski was coaching
10:26 that basketball program.
10:28 You have to pay a premium when a team keeps winning
10:31 big games and eventually it catches up to them.
10:34 - So do you like anybody here?
10:36 I mean, do you like, do you like Ole Miss?
10:38 Do you like Georgia?
10:39 Is that 11 too much for you?
10:41 - Yeah, it's right about where I made it 10 and a half.
10:44 So I'm right there.
10:45 And what jumped out at me again, when I made my totals,
10:48 I think it lands on the low 60s at the very least.
10:50 So I do like that as a play.
10:52 But as far as the side, it was,
10:54 I think Georgia wins the game outright.
10:56 And I just don't know that they're gonna win by 14.
10:59 And when you're, you know, when you're laying eight,
11:01 you gotta win by 10, you know,
11:03 not obviously, not just technically.
11:06 And if you're laying 10 and a half, 11,
11:08 you're thinking you gotta win by two touchdowns.
11:10 And I'm not sure they're gonna do that.
11:11 Although Ole Miss flopped against Alabama on offense,
11:14 but I don't think that's gonna happen here.
11:15 I think it's gonna be a high scoring game.
11:17 Georgia wins by 10 points, right?
11:19 Maybe they cover, maybe they go 14,
11:20 but I didn't like it enough to jump on it.
11:22 - Where are these two teams at right now
11:24 in your power rankings?
11:25 - Georgia, I've still got Georgia second.
11:28 And this is gonna sound, you know, interesting,
11:31 I think to some people,
11:32 because everybody's got Michigan first,
11:33 or Ohio State first, if you're looking at the bowl committee,
11:36 but most of them have Michigan first,
11:39 Georgia and Ohio State are their second or third.
11:41 I actually have Michigan first in mind,
11:44 and I'm gonna tell you why we're gonna really find out
11:46 this week if they deserve it.
11:48 And I'll get into that when we talk about that game.
11:50 I still have Georgia in second.
11:51 I have Ohio State third.
11:53 When it comes to bowl rankings,
11:55 I get why Ohio State's first.
11:57 I think you have to reward a team for playing,
11:59 you know, a couple of the good teams on their schedule,
12:01 which Michigan has not, Georgia really hasn't.
12:04 I mean, I guess you could throw Missouri in the mix
12:05 as a good team.
12:06 They are a good team.
12:07 They beat them and they, you know, walloped Kentucky
12:09 when that game came up on the schedule.
12:12 But, you know, it's hard for me,
12:14 even though I made them first,
12:15 I can see why the bowl committee
12:17 did not make the Wolverines first,
12:18 'cause they have yet to play anybody.
12:20 And I'll break that down by specifics in a little bit.
12:23 - So before we move on to the next game,
12:25 Elijah writes in and says,
12:26 "Hey, Doc, Travis, and even Owen,
12:28 love the content y'all put out.
12:29 We just had our first baby,
12:31 and your podcast kept me engaged and awake
12:34 during all those midnight feedings.
12:35 Great insights and great beer."
12:37 So Elijah, thanks so much for listening.
12:40 Thanks so much for watching.
12:41 And I hope you name the baby Rob.
12:43 That's what I hope you name the baby Rob.
12:47 Let's dive into the next game.
12:48 We were just talking about Michigan.
12:50 The Wolverines on the road.
12:51 This is a game that's been earmarked in the Big Ten.
12:53 A lot of people have looked at this
12:55 because of the showdown between the Wolverines
12:57 and the Nittany Lions.
12:58 Michigan, a four and a half point favorite on the road.
13:00 It's gonna be at 11 o'clock in the morning.
13:02 First thing you're gonna see on Fox,
13:04 and over under a 45.
13:06 - And I don't wanna take away too much from Michigan,
13:08 but I wanna explain why I think I have no problem
13:11 with the bowl committee making the Buckeyes number one
13:13 and Michigan behind them.
13:15 Do we take away anything from Michigan
13:18 when it comes to who they played?
13:19 You know, we always say, well, they can only beat
13:21 who's in front of them, the players.
13:24 At the same time, I always think a little bit opposite
13:26 of what the general public thinks.
13:27 And I'm like, should we punish the Buckeyes?
13:29 Should we punish Florida State?
13:31 Should we punish teams that have played a tough schedule
13:34 just because Michigan's beating teams that are soft,
13:37 a much softer slate?
13:38 So kind of for me, it works both ways.
13:41 We're gonna find out a lot again this week.
13:43 They faced zero adversity.
13:45 And I wanted to mention this,
13:46 and I jotted down in my notes
13:48 that Michigan has faced one opponent,
13:50 only one opponent all year
13:52 in most guys' top 55 power ratings.
13:56 And that was records. - Wow.
13:57 - Who I have rated 50th.
13:58 That was the only team in the top 55 they played.
14:01 The average power rating of the nine teams
14:03 that Michigan has faced is anywhere from 75th to 80th.
14:07 I have a (audio cuts out)
14:09 rating by this team.
14:10 And, you know, so how much do we take away from Michigan
14:14 for beating the crap out of teams,
14:15 but for playing a very soft slate?
14:17 And then Michigan's offense, you know,
14:18 they're only 45th in passing per game.
14:21 They're outside of the top 50 in rushing yardage per game.
14:24 We know the defense is a beast, but again,
14:26 you would think, I know they've been efficient.
14:28 They got a quarterback who's gonna play in the NFL.
14:30 He does everything right.
14:32 But again, do we take away anything from Michigan
14:35 for not putting up top 10 numbers on offense
14:38 against those teams?
14:39 And then as far as Penn State is concerned,
14:41 easily in the top 10 in everyone's power ratings,
14:43 including mine.
14:44 And how much do we punish Penn State
14:46 for losing to the Buckeyes?
14:47 Remember that was a 13 to six game
14:50 with about four and a half minutes to go
14:51 in the fourth quarter.
14:52 They played it almost to a 50-50 battle.
14:55 The offense has nothing special,
14:56 especially through the air, but the defense,
14:58 number one against the run,
15:00 number two in total yards allowed per game,
15:02 number one in the nation, Penn State's D,
15:04 in yards per play allowed,
15:06 and they're number two in the country in sack rate.
15:09 Drew Ellar, you know, their quarterback and their offense,
15:11 they don't make a lot of mistakes.
15:13 I like the under here, guys.
15:15 I truly believe that Harbaugh's Michigan Wolverines
15:19 are as good as the record says it is,
15:21 even though they played a very soft slate.
15:23 And when it comes to James Franklin,
15:25 we all know he doesn't win the big game.
15:26 By the way, I think it's crazy
15:28 that some Penn State alum are talking about,
15:30 get rid of Franklin.
15:31 Yeah, bring somebody in
15:33 and see if they can win 10 games a year.
15:34 And always have you in the talk, at least.
15:36 That's what we have to do.
15:38 - Nebraska fans would say,
15:39 don't get rid of a guy that wins 10 games a year,
15:41 no matter how you, because it's not always greener
15:44 on the other side.
15:44 The Buffalo fans, on the other hand,
15:45 are starting to change their tune a little bit
15:47 when it comes to Kirk Ferentz.
15:49 But that's because the offensive future,
15:51 we'll get into that in a little bit.
15:52 I do want to ask you about the Michigan cheating scandal.
15:55 Call me crazy, and Rob, you'll have better insight on this,
16:01 because you played the game.
16:03 I don't care.
16:05 I don't care.
16:07 I don't see what the big deal is.
16:10 Am I wrong there?
16:12 - You know, my take on it,
16:14 it just, I kind of thought everybody did this anyway.
16:19 These guys just did it so obviously and so blatantly.
16:23 It was kind of a thing.
16:26 And now what's funny is you see some of these other,
16:29 it means a little less to me
16:31 when you see some of these other teams
16:33 where now you're finding out about how like,
16:35 and I haven't, like, it gets so convoluted.
16:40 My facts might be a little off here.
16:43 But where you've got like Rutgers and Purdue
16:46 and these other teams now involved,
16:48 where it seems like, okay, well,
16:49 everybody was just trading each other's signals.
16:52 Well, here's what so-and-so does.
16:53 Here's what so-and-so else does.
16:55 The information's out there.
16:59 If you go and look, it's out there.
17:02 You can watch enough film and enough camera angles
17:05 to see this stuff.
17:06 I guess I'm kind of one of those guys where,
17:10 you know what you could do,
17:12 what Osborne did back in the '90s,
17:14 and just he would have receivers run every play in.
17:18 There was zero signals from the sideline.
17:22 He would just have a couple of wide receivers
17:25 switch out every single play with the next play.
17:28 - I mean, you still remember when coaches could go scout
17:32 because they changed the rule in '94
17:34 and they didn't do it because of signals.
17:36 They did it for a cost savings measure
17:37 for universities not to go scout.
17:39 - Yeah, guys would go do this.
17:41 - Yeah, so I guess I look at it and go,
17:45 maybe it's the cynic in me.
17:47 I've just always assumed this always happened
17:49 and there was somebody doing it.
17:51 Did you?
17:52 - Yeah, it was kind of the thing that made it interesting
17:55 was the switch to the,
17:58 was the switch to the no huddle offenses,
18:05 the hurry up offenses, the speed and tempo game.
18:10 That's what really pushed it along
18:12 and that's where everybody started coming out with,
18:14 well, we're not gonna huddle.
18:15 We're not gonna run different players in.
18:19 We're gonna have the funny signs on the sideline
18:21 with the different pictures
18:22 and that's gonna be the formation of the play.
18:25 - I mean, Scott, from a better perspective,
18:28 how do you guys look at this cheating scandal?
18:30 Do you guys even care?
18:32 - I don't care.
18:33 I mean, it's like, again, I'm like you guys.
18:35 I thought that there would always be somebody
18:37 kind of checking things out on an upcoming opponent,
18:40 maybe not to the extent that Michigan did,
18:42 but when you had those posters or placards
18:43 or whatever you wanna call them,
18:45 like Rob said, with the funny faces or whatever,
18:48 faces of famous people and it would mean something.
18:53 I always, my biggest thing was I wondered,
18:55 do they change those from game to game?
18:56 Because how easy that would be to steal signs.
18:59 So then we find out that TCU comes out and says that,
19:04 we heard that Michigan was stealing signs.
19:06 So we kept the same signs, but we changed the plays
19:09 and then they score 50 on them in the playoffs last year.
19:11 That's what I thought you would do anyway.
19:13 So I don't know, man, again, Jim Harbaugh
19:17 rubs a lot of people the wrong way.
19:19 And I've got friends, a couple of friends,
19:21 two of them who went to, who graduated Michigan Law
19:24 and others that started their undergrad
19:26 and went right through Michigan Law.
19:27 And they've talked about, alums talking about,
19:30 get them out of there.
19:31 We don't want Harbaugh anymore, he's a cheater,
19:32 which shocks me.
19:34 And I'm like, bring him out here to Vegas.
19:35 We'll hook him up with the Raiders.
19:36 I mean, I'm going to watch NFL football.
19:39 I want it to be coached well.
19:40 So bring him out here where he can do whatever he wants
19:42 when it comes to sign stealing or whatever,
19:44 like they do in the NFL.
19:46 Bottom line is, Harbaugh's a hell of a coach.
19:48 He did it at the University of San Diego.
19:50 He did it at Stanford.
19:51 He did it with San Francisco and the NFL.
19:54 He's doing it with Michigan.
19:55 And I just think he's an excellent coach with a good staff.
20:00 And he also knows how to recruit for what he wants to do.
20:03 And again, I think it's a little bit of a witch hunt,
20:06 just like we saw with Pete Carroll.
20:08 You know, the NCAA, somebody didn't like him.
20:10 They got his butt out of there,
20:12 which was a shame for all the college football fans.
20:15 And he goes on and has success with the Seahawks.
20:16 And I think they're doing the same to Harbaugh.
20:18 Heard an interesting radio show today that said,
20:20 how do we know, you know,
20:22 'cause Harbaugh rubs everybody the wrong way.
20:24 How do we know it wasn't a faculty member at Michigan
20:29 that brought this up?
20:30 Because they don't like Harbaugh
20:31 or they don't like the attention that Harbaugh gets.
20:33 You know, he does bother people.
20:36 And because of that, you know,
20:37 we don't know exactly who reported all this stuff,
20:39 but boy, I just think it's crazy.
20:40 I think Deion said it right.
20:42 Yeah, you might know the play, still got to stop them.
20:44 - Exactly.
20:45 I mean, hell, everybody knew it.
20:46 Rob, when you played,
20:47 everybody knew what you guys were going to run.
20:49 It just, you guys were better than everybody.
20:51 - And that's the other thing as well too,
20:53 is I mean, all of these teams are so well scouted.
20:56 You've watched film up one side and down the other.
21:01 You line up in a certain formation, in a certain situation,
21:05 you know probably what's coming.
21:08 I mean, there's a few plays.
21:09 I mean, we talked about on the Doc's diagnosis this week,
21:12 the face mask sack against Heinrich Harburg
21:17 in the Michigan State game.
21:20 In my opinion, it was just a very well scouted play
21:24 by Michigan that, sorry, Michigan State,
21:27 that Michigan State knew exactly what was coming.
21:30 And it wasn't a sign stealing thing.
21:32 Well, maybe it was, we don't know,
21:33 but it's that that was just well-prepared football.
21:38 And every team's doing that these days.
21:40 The fact that some of these teams take it to a next level,
21:44 you've just got to assume people are stealing your signs.
21:49 I thought when this came out,
21:52 it's that my assumption was, is that, well, like,
21:54 well, isn't everybody kind of doing this?
21:56 And if my team's not doing it,
22:00 I'm a little disappointed.
22:02 - Well, most people said, yeah, they tried to steal signs,
22:04 but they're like, oh, if you send somebody to the stadium,
22:06 that's crossing the line.
22:08 I'm like, there's 70,000 people in there.
22:10 There's gotta be somebody looking out, right?
22:12 I mean, that's kind of what I look for.
22:13 You mentioned the Doc's diagnosis.

22:23 You can go watch all the past diagnosis.
22:26 Good stuff there from Dr. Rob
22:27 as he breaks down a lot of those plays.
22:29 Next game up, gonna be a 2.30 game on Peacock.
22:34 Saturday at 2.30, Rutgers takes on Iowa.
22:37 The Hawks, just a one point favorite in this game.
22:39 The shocker here, Vegas is begging.
22:42 And I mean, absolutely begging people to bet the over.
22:46 They are.
22:47 I mean, I had Eric Olson on from Betfred last week,
22:51 and he's like, we want people to bet the over.
22:54 We're begging them to take,
22:56 but everybody's taking the under.
22:57 28 and a half, Scott, I could be wrong,
23:00 but this has to be one of the lowest college football totals
23:03 in the history of college football.
23:05 - It's the lowest, and it's 28 in a lot of books too.
23:07 It's even happening.
23:08 - Really?
23:09 - When will Nebraska play Iowa?
23:11 I can't wait to see what the over under is gonna be.
23:15 - Team to two, sack the putter.
23:18 Yeah, I don't know what to say about this.
23:20 I mean, this is just ugly.
23:21 I was thinking about, it's too bad it's on Peacock.
23:23 It'd be much easier to record and I can watch it
23:26 when I need to fall asleep at three o'clock
23:27 in the morning later that night.
23:29 You know, it's like, last week we were talking
23:32 about the total with Northwestern.
23:33 We said this will probably be the game
23:35 where each team scores 20.
23:36 They couldn't even do it last week.
23:37 You know, it's 10 to seven.
23:39 So I don't know.
23:39 It's gotten to the point where, you know,
23:42 doing this for 30 years, make my living, you know,
23:46 giving plays to clients and betting my own plays,
23:49 there's no way I can mess with this total.
23:51 I mean, you would want to bet the under
23:53 because that's what Iowa and Rutgers do
23:55 is play great defense.
23:56 But at the same time, 28,
23:58 are they playing two and a half quarters?
24:00 I mean, so anyway, it is beyond ridiculous what's going on.
24:04 And I just wondered, I had to go back and check
24:06 'cause I thought maybe I was gonna find the old,
24:08 you know, the circle shaped football that they had in 1890.
24:11 And maybe that's what they're trying to throw with
24:13 in these Iowa Hawkeye games and Northwestern and all that.
24:15 And the bottom line is, is, you know,
24:18 Cade McNamara hasn't played since September 30th.
24:21 He's still the leading passer for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
24:24 How about this?
24:25 Eric Gall, the tight end who got hurt
24:27 and he hasn't played with three games.
24:28 He's still the leading receiver.
24:30 So two guys that have been out the majority of the season
24:33 are still the leading yard gainers.
24:35 - Oh, that's nuts.
24:36 And then, you know, Rutgers can't pass the football either,
24:38 but their quarterback has some serious gates
24:41 and he can escape and he can also call his own number
24:44 and be able to, you know,
24:46 pick up quite a few yards per carry against most defenses.
24:49 Now, the thing is, the defenses are very close
24:52 and strength, obviously, if you look at their numbers,
24:54 their stats and all that, I agree Iowa's better,
24:57 but Rutgers isn't that bad on defense,
24:59 but both teams stink on offense.
25:01 We know that Rutgers, though,
25:02 averages about 185 rushing yards per game
25:05 and Iowa ranks 111th on the ground on offense.
25:08 I hate to do this.
25:10 You know, it's not gonna be a monetary bet for me,
25:12 but I gotta back Rutgers here.
25:14 I think they're just a little bit better
25:16 than Iowa on offense.
25:17 They're able to run the ball.
25:18 Iowa can't run or pass.
25:20 The defenses are pretty close.
25:22 Iowa's got an edge there.
25:24 I'm gonna see Iowa, I mean, Rutgers gets the win here
25:26 in Iowa City. - Wow.
25:27 - Wow.
25:29 - And again, I want everybody that's watching,
25:32 I'm not saying run out and plunk your money down on this
25:34 'cause I am not putting my money on it,
25:36 but for the sake of the show,
25:37 I think the Scarlet Knights win this game.
25:39 - Bottom line is South Omaha hates the Hawkeyes.
25:42 (laughing)
25:44 - So Cody says, "What is the lowest over-under you remember?"
25:47 Is this it? - This is it.
25:49 28. - Wow.
25:51 And Vegas is just daring people to take the over,
25:55 aren't they, with that?
25:56 - Do it every week.
25:56 And they did it last week.
25:57 They're like, "We're gonna dare you to bet on the over,"
26:01 and everybody who did knew they were dead in the water
26:04 shortly after the game started.
26:05 You could tell nobody was gonna do anything
26:07 in that Iowa-Northwestern game.
26:08 So yeah, they're begging you to play it.
26:10 I'm staying away.
26:12 It's like against my personal gambling constitution
26:15 to bet under 28 in a four-quarter game,
26:18 but I also don't wanna jump in and play that over.
26:21 Dusty says, "I can't even enjoy the Iowa Mets
26:23 "since we are them," and he's talking about Nebraska.
26:26 (laughing)
26:28 At least he's a realist about it, right?
26:30 - We are them, that's awesome.
26:32 - Yes.
26:33 Going back to the cheating scandal with Michigan,
26:35 Steven says, "Bigger picture is another NCAA failure
26:37 "not to make the rules and regulations prepare for the NFL."
26:41 Like Matt Rule said, and I remember this,
26:44 use Radio Tech in high school and pros, it's a non-issue.
26:48 - There's high school teams that use that.
26:51 - Yes, it's not that hard.
26:54 I do wanna go back.
26:55 I don't know if you touched on these, Scott, or not,
26:57 but Rutgers is two and 11 against the spread
26:59 when playing against a team with a winning record,
27:02 and then Kirk Ferentz, 25 and 14 against the spread at home
27:05 as a favorite, or seven or less.
27:07 But those, I tell you, I don't think you can count
27:09 on any of those, can you?
27:11 - No, that's just fun stuff.
27:12 I mean, that's interesting stuff, and again,
27:16 he's only laying one in this particular game,
27:18 Kirk Ferentz's team, but again,
27:20 I don't want any part of it.
27:21 So I think it's just gonna be another low-scoring game
27:25 unless serious mistakes are made.
27:27 Can't bet the under, lean towards Rutgers.
27:29 - The game at 2.30 on Fox Sports 1,
27:33 and Nebraska's gonna be at home.
27:35 They're taking on Maryland.
27:37 I don't know why I'm shocked by this,
27:39 but the Terrapins are a two and a half point favorite
27:42 on the road.
27:43 They've lost, what, five in a row?
27:46 The over-under on this at 44 and a half.
27:48 It tells you, Scott--
27:49 - They actually have an offense.
27:50 - I get that, but they don't have a very good defense.
27:53 Scott, explain to me why Maryland's favored here.
27:56 - Boy, I guess people have seen enough
27:58 of Nebraska's quarterback play this season,
28:00 and if they play decent at quarterback
28:03 and they hang on to the football
28:04 and don't make dumb plays from time to time,
28:07 costly mistakes, they're seven and two right now.
28:09 They beat Minnesota, and they win last week
28:11 against Michigan State.
28:12 That's a highly disappointing result last week,
28:14 because, I mean, Michigan State had lost, what,
28:17 five or six in a row.
28:18 I thought Nebraska would go in and be able to handle them,
28:21 and they did not get the job done.
28:22 So now you got a team, and then I hear this week
28:26 that Jeff Sims, I don't know if he's gonna play,
28:28 he's getting first team reps.
28:30 I mean, I don't wanna take anything away from him
28:32 and say that he shouldn't be out there
28:33 getting first team reps, because Harbaugh
28:35 has all of a sudden hit the wall, Harburg, I mean,
28:38 and all of a sudden he is making costly mistakes.
28:42 It's really tough.
28:43 Nebraska has hope.
28:44 Hang on to the football, and you'll win this football game.
28:47 It's as simple as that.
28:48 Four straight losses for the Terps,
28:50 including outright losses as double-digit favorites
28:53 to Northwestern and Illinois.
28:55 They've allowed 37 points per game
28:57 during this four-game skid.
28:58 They allowed 33 points to Northwestern.
29:01 But you got some coaching issues going on right now,
29:03 Kevin Sumlin, the DUI that he got,
29:06 and a lot of interesting issues going on
29:08 that could detract from the quality of coaching
29:10 going on on the sideline.
29:12 And again, I just think it's a situation
29:14 where just hang on to the football, Nebraska,
29:16 but the reason, back to your question,
29:18 why Maryland is favored on the road over the Huskers
29:21 is that Maryland is still power rated in everybody's top 50.
29:24 Nebraska is around 60th.
29:26 And because of that, you don't want
29:27 to make Nebraska a favorite here and then
29:29 have all this big, sharp money coming pouring in on the team
29:32 that is perceived to be a good 15, 20 spots higher in power
29:36 ratings than the others.
29:37 So that's why it is where it is.
29:39 And again, though, it's one of those things.
29:41 I don't want to stick my neck out and say, all of a sudden,
29:44 we're going to make a guess, and Nebraska
29:46 is going to hang on to the football.
29:47 If they do, they win the football game.
29:49 I think it is as simple as that.
29:51 You know, you call me crazy, but all four games
29:54 that I picked for this week, I don't think you're
29:56 touching any of the four, are you?
29:58 Well, the over in the Ole Miss-Georgia game,
30:01 and also the under in the Michigan-Penn State game.
30:04 I've got money on both of those games.
30:06 Cody wants to know, if you had to set it right now,
30:09 what would you make the Iowa-Nebraska over/under?
30:11 I was going to ask the same question, Cody.
30:14 [LAUGHTER]
30:15 It's going to be--
30:16 I mean, I would make it in the high 20s, if it was today.
30:19 If the game was played, let's say, tomorrow,
30:20 I'd make it in the high 20s.
30:21 Potentially lowest ever.
30:23 26 to 29 in that neighborhood.
30:25 Wow.
30:26 That's just bad football.
30:29 Eric says, Temple at USF, over 67.
30:33 You like that?
30:33 Totally staying away from that game.
30:35 Yeah, there's a couple of teams that I
30:37 don't care for much at all.
30:38 And they make too many mistakes for me to get involved with.
30:41 I can see why you would want over 67.
30:43 Neither defense really shows up.
30:45 It's the opposite of the Hawkeyes and the Huskers.
30:47 It'll be a lot of aerial attack going on
30:50 in that game between those two teams and the defenses
30:53 I just don't trust.
30:53 So I would expect it to creep over that total,
30:56 but I don't want to put my money on a couple
30:58 of bad football teams.
30:59 If you had to give--
31:01 I'm going to ask you to give a free one out, if you can,
31:03 just because we haven't had much exciting stuff.
31:07 But any game you do like this week?
31:10 Yeah, let me pull up my card here,
31:12 and I'll give you one that I have kind of jumped into.
31:15 It's funny how everybody loves these over-unders.
31:18 I know you're not a big over-under guy,
31:19 but Tom says Air Force team total over 33 and 1/2.
31:24 They should be able to do that.
31:26 They can roll.
31:27 They got upset by Army, which was an ugly performance
31:30 by Air Force.
31:30 Air Force was in the top 25.
31:32 And they were really making other teams look silly
31:34 sometimes when they're out there on the field on offense.
31:37 And then they totally lay an egg or perform in a clunker fashion
31:41 against Army.
31:41 But I think they bounce back well.
31:43 Always be careful.
31:44 When you got a team that's 5, 6, 7 games into the season,
31:47 and they lose that first game, you always
31:49 got to be careful about how they come out
31:51 the next game between the years.
31:52 And I'm talking about teams that don't normally
31:54 win 11, 12 games a year.
31:56 If they're a team that kind of--
31:57 they're middle of the pack, and then all of a sudden
31:59 of a bust out year, they lose that first game.
32:00 It's like they're deflated for another week or two.
32:03 So be careful of that.
32:04 But I wouldn't go against over 33 and 1/2.
32:07 As far as a game that I've kind of jumped on a little bit here,
32:10 and I've got a few, I'm going to look
32:12 at the under between Utah and Washington.
32:15 And I lost last week at Washington.
32:18 I had a small play on them.
32:19 I thought it was a great spot to back USC.
32:22 42-42 in the fourth quarter.
32:24 Trailing by three in the fourth quarter,
32:25 Washington gets that late touchdown
32:27 with a couple of minutes to go, and they cover the spread.
32:30 What I saw in that game--
32:32 man, I love Kayla DeBoer.
32:33 I know we've talked about him before.
32:35 But my gosh, this team, they didn't
32:38 care about running the football before last week at all.
32:40 They just didn't.
32:41 Now, they hardly ever ran the ball.
32:42 They ran it like 27 times against Stanford,
32:45 13 against Arizona State, 23 against Oregon.
32:49 But they're going up against USC,
32:50 who's got a horrible run defense.
32:52 And what does DeBoer do?
32:54 They ran the ball 42 times, over twice as much
32:57 as they do in a lot of games.
32:58 They gained 316 yards.
33:00 Completely changed his season-long game plan
33:03 for beating USC, and they tore him to shreds.
33:06 I think they'll get after Utah, and they'll probably
33:08 win this game by a couple of touchdowns.
33:10 But Whittingham is so damn smart on the other sideline.
33:13 He knows he's got to run the football.
33:14 They don't care about passing right now.
33:16 They know they got to run the football.
33:18 Washington's not great against the run
33:20 to keep that Washington offense off the field.
33:22 It's dropped from 54 down to 52 and 1/2.
33:25 I still like it under.
33:26 Put a little action on that.
33:27 And guys, real quick, I think Oklahoma State, everybody's
33:30 expected a letdown.
33:31 The people that I know that are looking
33:33 to go against Oklahoma State after the win over the Sooners
33:35 last week, now on the road against Central Florida,
33:38 are all counting on one thing, a letdown.
33:40 And maybe they will.
33:42 But if I'm putting my money down,
33:43 I'm going to be able to count on what's
33:45 going on in the field all season more
33:46 than hoping for a letdown.
33:48 I think Oklahoma State knocks off UCF.
33:51 They're laying 2 and 1/2.
33:52 That's a fair number.
33:54 There you go.
