00:08 Welcome to the Gay Echo Chronicles, the people show.
00:12 Checking the pulse of Eskimo Nation brought to you by DPS Concrete Construction.
00:15 They are your local concrete experts. Check them out at dpsconstruction.net.
00:20 You're not your eight year old twin sisters. What are you doing here?
00:24 I don't know. You invited me on, so I decided I would join.
00:27 I don't like that you look taller every time you sit next to me.
00:29 By the way, he's too scared to do the intro. Trinity is all about it.
00:32 Addison rehearses it 50,000 times. He passes on it.
00:35 But one day he's going to do it. Now, full disclosure, if you haven't noticed,
00:39 I typically go oldest to youngest on my Prediction Thursday show.
00:43 I've done it for years. This is year six of the Chronicles.
00:45 I'm sorry, year nine of the Chronicles. It would have been six of character live.
00:49 But I always go oldest to youngest. Jacob, Addison, Trinity, twins, Jordan.
00:54 Then we brought on Rocky, one of our two dogs this year.
00:57 Jacob is here today. He's making a surprise guest appearance because he should be at school.
01:02 Everybody else is at school. Full disclosure, about two weeks ago, he got a really bad concussion.
01:08 Okay, we're not exactly sure what happened. He may have actually been concussed the day before and then got hit again.
01:12 I don't know. All I know is he asked, "Dad, can I come out of practice?"
01:16 Which he never does. He was sensitive to light. Had headaches basically for the past ten days.
01:21 We finally took him to the neurologist. Had to take him out of school due to the time that it was scheduled.
01:26 It seems like you're going to be able to... His competitive football team won the state championship and pop corner for his age group.
01:34 Now they're going to the Nationals down in Florida, which is in the beginning of December.
01:39 I seriously wonder if he's going to be able to participate.
01:42 The neurologist says he should be able to do non-contact stuff in a week, full contact stuff in two weeks.
01:49 So are you excited to get what seems to be good news today?
01:52 Yes, very excited. I really want to play in the championship.
01:55 He's been going kind of bonkers. Kind of driving us nuts.
01:59 Being at home all the time. Love you.
02:02 But anyways, do me a favor. If you want to show him some love and support, smash that like button.
02:07 He checks out the shows, at least sometimes I think. I don't know. He never listens to what I say at home.
02:11 Why would he listen to my show?
02:13 Anyways, hit the like button. Show him some love and support.
02:15 Alright, Jacob. Let's get to the most important question of the day.
02:18 How's Molly?
02:20 Oh boy. Not to see him.
02:21 You knew it was coming!
02:22 I did. You did tell me.
02:23 Come on! I totally blindsided him last time.
02:26 Hey, full disclosure. So I had met Molly before, but it was for like a brief 5-10 seconds.
02:29 She actually came over to our house, okay? Got to spend some time around her.
02:34 Now, he's got five little sisters. I completely just let them hound her.
02:40 I just, well I didn't tell them to hound her, but they just did what they did.
02:42 They're little sisters and she handled them great.
02:44 She was a lot of fun to be around. She was like a really, really nice girl.
02:48 So, you want to say hi to Molly?
02:50 Hello.
02:51 Should we talk a little Husker football?
02:53 Yes, please change the subject.
02:54 Are you completely uncomfortable and awkward?
02:56 Yes.
02:57 I've succeeded as a parent. Alright, here we go.
02:58 Alright, let's talk a little Nebraska, a little Maryland.
03:00 Huskers versus, I want to say Ninja Turtles, but the Turtles.
03:03 Alright, so here's a couple of things that I found interesting from throughout this week.
03:07 Alright, Matt Rule said, and I quote, "Everything is about learning how to win.
03:12 We have learned how to win, but winning in November is completely different."
03:16 And, quote, again that was Coach Matt Rule, I talked about that on 93.7 The Ticket earlier this week.
03:21 I couldn't agree more.
03:24 And I actually saw a bowl projection, I know I'm getting ahead of myself here,
03:28 where Nebraska could potentially play Oklahoma.
03:30 I mean, that'd be awesome for us, you know, they're in a bit of a downward spiral.
03:34 Who cares about them?
03:35 Alright, so a couple of other things that stood out to me.
03:37 John M. Bishop on Twitter.
03:39 Again, I've talked about a couple of these things on 93.7 The Ticket,
03:42 but I wanted to talk about it here with you fine folks on this specific audience.
03:45 Here, John M. Bishop, some of these are good, some of these are not,
03:48 but they are what they are, the facts don't care about your feelings.
03:50 Heinrich Harburg is on pace for the highest fumble rate by any Husker quarterback
03:53 in the last 12 seasons by those who have had at least 100 rushing attempts or more.
03:58 Other guys on this list are like Adrian Martinez, Taylor Martinez, Tommy Armstrong.
04:01 That's neither here nor there, I just thought it was interesting.
04:03 But here is a definite positive.
04:05 Thomas Fadoni.
04:06 There was a list on Twitter, rankings of the top 50 tight ends in the country.
04:09 He's right now listed as the 36th best tight end in the entire country.
04:13 I did think that that was some good news right there.
04:16 Now, Tony White, I don't often talk about what the coordinators say during the week,
04:20 but I thought they had some interesting things to say this week.
04:23 Now, Tony White, okay, talked about Tulia "Tag" Viola, okay, to his brother,
04:29 and he said that he's an athlete and he's a really good thrower,
04:33 and he talked about how the Blacks just need to find ways to flush him.
04:36 Okay, get him on the move.
04:38 Also, Coach White said he wasn't aggressive enough as a play caller
04:41 versus Michigan State last week, and he said, and I quote, "That's on me."
04:45 End quote.
04:46 He said, "No excuses for injuries, okay, to play a factor in the defense playing worse."
04:52 No excuses, he said.
04:53 Marcus Satterfield, offensive coordinator.
04:55 Now, he was down on the field at the start of the year during games
04:59 so he could be with the quarterbacks, but he's moved into the press box now
05:02 to remove himself from the emotional aspect of the game and slow things down just a little bit.
05:08 Now, he did say the first down production has not been up to par,
05:11 and we had some really--a lot of second-along situations last week.
05:15 And as we know, we're just not good enough to be in that situation.
05:18 Very few offenses are second-along to be efficiently good
05:21 when you put yourself in that situation.
05:23 He said Heinrich Harburg is a tough man, and he's trying to adopt Coach Rule's mindset.
05:30 Harburg was sporadic, but he has worked on being in the pocket today in practice,
05:35 and this was a couple of days ago that these things were mentioned.
05:38 He said Harburg is thinking a little too much, just wants him to run through somebody's face.
05:43 I thought that was a great quote.
05:45 All right, and he said that Matt Rule challenged Coach Satterfield
05:48 to give Emmitt Johnson the ball 15 to 20 times a game.
05:52 He's clearly our number one running back going forward.
05:55 What happened to the three-handed monster?
05:59 You know, Anthony Grant is dynamic.
06:01 It just shows you how important it is to hold onto the ball.
06:03 Emmitt Johnson, he's doing really, really well.
06:05 It's a great question. It is what it is.
06:08 All right, so Ramir Johnson's coming back.
06:10 So, hopefully Emmitt Johnson--Ramir Johnson's coming back.
06:12 Hopefully Emmitt Johnson does as well.
06:15 Now, Maryland has lost four games in a row, including losses to Northwestern and Illinois.
06:20 It's kind of hard to comprehend a little bit.
06:22 They're giving up an average of 37 points per game during those four losses,
06:27 and Northwestern themselves scored 33 points.
06:30 Their other two losses that were not Northwestern and Illinois,
06:33 they allowed an average of 44 points in each of those two games.
06:36 Now, coming into Saturday, into Lincoln, Maryland's a three-point favorite,
06:40 and the over-under for the game is 42.5.
06:42 I almost said that seemed high, but I didn't, and you'll find out why later.
06:46 All right, Jacob, the four keys--four keys this week,
06:49 and I wrote four keys to getting bowl eligible, because that's what it's about for me.
06:53 What's number one here, Jacob?
06:54 Yeah, be more aggressive on defense.
06:56 It's that simple.
06:57 This is one of the rare times I've said that this year.
06:59 Now, there was early on in that Minnesota game with a lot of three-man rushes,
07:02 but Minnesota was a long time ago.
07:04 I haven't thought that we should be more aggressive on defense in a while,
07:07 but Coach White said it himself--got to be more aggressive on defense.
07:10 Okay, now here's the deal.
07:11 This team plays complementary football, which means everything starts and ends with our defense.
07:17 All right, number two?
07:18 Run the ball successfully on first down.
07:20 Create second and manageable situations and third and short type scenarios for our offense.
07:26 Let's help our young quarterback out.
07:29 All right, number three?
07:30 Be the stronger team in the second half.
07:33 We flat out just haven't done this in a while.
07:35 We need to get back to doing that.
07:38 Have fun in the return game.
07:42 Have fun?
07:43 You don't know how to read, or--no, it's my handwriting.
07:45 All right, have fun in the return game.
07:47 In other words, just have a return game.
07:49 And I know that's something Matt Ruhle has addressed throughout this week.
07:51 Okay, he talked to the media.
07:53 All right, our longest punt return of the year, true stat, is eight yards.
07:58 And we had zero kickoff return attempts last game.
08:01 Just cut loose and have some freaking fun in the return game.
08:04 And I didn't count this as a key because it just kind of is a key to every game for this offense.
08:09 It kind of goes without saying.
08:11 Jacob, what is this that I have asterisked by?
08:14 Don't lose the turnover battle.
08:15 You don't even have to win it, just don't lose it.
08:17 All right, Jacob has four wins on the year in the prediction battle.
08:22 I have four, and he didn't do one last week, and Addison actually got it right.
08:26 She made her own prediction.
08:27 So it's four, four, and one.
08:29 So this is the tiebreaker, Jacob.
08:30 All right, what's your prediction?
08:32 I got Nebraska 21 and the Ninja Turtles at 24.
08:37 You picked Maryland?
08:38 I did.
08:39 Boo that man.
08:40 All right, you must be concussed.
08:42 That's really not funny.
08:44 Now this is the first time all year I am taking the over, at least that I can recall.
08:49 All right, here we go.
08:50 Huskers 24, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, and the other guy 20.
08:57 Can't think of his name.
08:58 All right, here are the questions.
09:00 Hit me up in the comments below.
09:02 All right, Jacob, go ahead and read it.
09:04 Your single biggest key to the game?
09:06 Let me know in the comments below.
09:07 What's your single biggest key to Nebraska getting a victory over Maryland in this game?
09:12 Number two is the score prediction.
09:13 What is your score prediction?
09:14 Let me know in the comments below, and I'll read this one.
09:17 I'm just going to ask you.
09:18 I don't want to put Jacob in this tough position.
09:20 If Nebraska loses Saturday, I know, I know, I know, I'm sorry, but I'm just going to ask you.
09:26 Do you as a diehard Nebraska fan, because I'm sure you all are that are watching this video, okay,
09:32 there's not a single Iowa fan among you I'm sure, I'm not going to say we're going to be panicked,
09:37 but my question is this.
09:38 Do you just start to get a little bit worried if Nebraska doesn't win Saturday?
09:43 But of course we're going to.
09:44 All right, Jacob, be sure to tell Molly hi.
09:46 Okay.
09:48 I had to bring it up again.
09:49 I just had to do it.
09:50 [Laughter]
09:53 It's not that funny.
09:55 Until next time, Husker Nation, go big red, and always remember to throw the bones.
10:03 It's not that funny.
10:06 Your head's going to explode.
10:07 She really was awesome when she came to the house.
10:09 Five little girls all over her, and she handled it great.
10:12 First, you said the Ninja Turtles.
10:14 You said the Ninja Turtles.
10:15 No, no, you said it first.
10:16 Are we still rolling?
10:17 Probably.
