Dominic Scurr and Liam Kennedy react to Newcastle United supporters in the streets of Dortmund.
Transcript
00:00 So I'm here, Shields' Gazette, with Liam Kennedy here in the Older Market,
00:04 heart of Dortmund and Newcastle United fans have, it's fair to say, taken over Liam.
00:10 Very much so. It's been quite an amazing afternoon so far. It's before we even get
00:15 to the football out there. There's a lot of people talking, we've spoken to some locals
00:19 having a go and a lot of them have said they haven't even seen anything like this when Dortmund
00:22 win the title in this square. They've never seen anybody bring these kind of celebrations.
00:28 It's amazing and it is quite emotional. We're seeing lots of friends, family,
00:32 fans that we know. It's been a brilliant experience and they're doing it the way
00:35 only Newcastle United can. It's been very friendly. We were just talking to a Dortmund fan and said,
00:42 'Milan, who played here not long ago, nothing in comparison to what Newcastle both said. We were
00:49 crazy for bringing 20,000 over, however many are expected, considering the allocation is less than
00:54 4,000. Comparisons were made, this is where the Dortmund fans would come if they won the league
01:00 title, for example, and the attendance is not dissimilar apparently. Just look at that. I'll
01:07 show you again. Fans having a great time and hopefully they'll still be having a good time
01:12 at the Signal of Dunarpark celebrating a win for Newcastle later on because it's a really
01:17 important game, Liam. Yeah, hopes are high. I think everybody after those results last week,
01:21 you go to Old Trafford, which is a traditionally tough place for Newcastle United to go,
01:25 go and get a clean sheet and get yourself through the cup, three-nil win. Then they go and do what
01:28 they did at Arsenal the weekend, show a totally different way of winning. I think there's
01:33 confidence here. Look, they're down to the bare bones, but what can Eddie Howe do? He's got to
01:37 pick who's available. I think there's a lot of people here. I think you'll have to go a long
01:41 way down there, behind where to find people who don't think Newcastle United are going to come
01:44 away with something from Dortmund tonight. Yep, and you can follow all our coverage over on the
01:49 Shields Gazette, shieldsgazette.com and yeah, just enjoy that. We'll be at the Signal of Dunarpark
01:56 later on and more to come.
