Linebacker Jeffrey Bassa discusses Oregon's defensive dominance after a 63-19 win over the Cal Golden Bears.

00:00 You guys have only given up three touchdowns on defense over the last 12 quarters.
00:05 Obviously, that's probably three too many for you guys, but what's just been working so well these past three games?
00:10 Yeah, I think everybody just getting aligned and adjusted.
00:14 Tosh and Lannan do a great job of bringing in this great defense, and I think that's a lot of player-led stuff on my part as a leader,
00:25 the defense to get everybody aligned, but also just everybody doing their job, everybody doing their 1/11.
00:32 What is the mindset on defense after the offense gives up a defensive touchdown?
00:37 Yeah, go out there and get another stop. We're never out of the fight.
00:40 You know what I mean? So we're always going to go out there and we want to be put in those critical situations where we've got to nut up on defense and do stuff like that.
00:48 So we're never out of the fight.
00:50 A lot of weirdness in that first quarter. You had the blocked field goal you thought was going to be a touchdown, got it called back.
00:57 More nonsense. Then you get the Steve Stevens interception.
01:00 Just what does it speak to this defense that you can get over that weird stuff quickly and make plays?
01:06 Yeah, I think it goes down to us being in those critical situations in practice and then always knowing that when everybody's doing their 1/11 and we have our defensive line getting to the quarterback,
01:18 rushing coverage is always going to work together.
01:19 So I think, yeah, it just goes down to everybody doing their job, staying poised, not letting our highs get too high and our lows get too low.
01:26 Does Bo do anything that surprises you anymore? Have you seen at all?
01:31 He did surprise me today with the throw that he threw, the tray Sean, I think it was on the third down.
01:36 He kind of made two defenders miss, but I mean, I see that in practice every day.
01:40 So, yeah. Why is this team so good against the run? Feels like no one can run on you guys really well.
01:46 Yeah, I think that goes down to practice, always in the preparation, going up against our offensive line.
01:51 I think Coach Terry does a great job with the offensive line.
01:54 So we see it literally every day in practice and then also having a dominant front seven.
