00:00 Thank you, time.
00:01 I don't have too much to say or anything
00:03 that sounds super smart, but I'm honored to be here.
00:07 I did promise my mom I'd do my best tonight.
00:10 I grew up in a future that I want for my children.
00:14 I grew up being told that a depressive episode
00:17 requires as much rehab as a broken arm.
00:19 I grew up in a family where being open
00:22 was the coolest thing.
00:24 I could be being strong and being holding back tears
00:28 and stiffening my upper lip.
00:30 My strength came from my honesty
00:32 and from my vulnerability.
00:34 And I grew up privileged in what many people
00:37 would see as a fantasy world.
00:39 But I'm here tonight and I've been asked to toast something.
00:44 So I just want to say that I feel like an imposter
00:47 amongst all of you.
00:49 And I don't know how to convince myself I belong here.
00:51 This blazer doesn't really fit.
00:53 Man bun is too tight.
00:56 (audience laughing)
00:57 And I wish I could just get back to staring at Jalen Hurts.
01:00 (audience laughing)
01:03 I wish I could take my foot out of my mouth,
01:05 but damn if I'm glad you've always been encouraged to talk.
01:08 Even if I was just listing my flaws,
01:10 I actually do feel better now.
01:12 So here's a toast to talking, to being honest,
01:15 and maybe feeling better because of it.
01:17 Thank you.
01:18 (audience applauding)
