00:00 >> How did you find out where you guys were ranked in the playoff pool?
00:04 >> Somebody tagged me in there on Instagram.
00:09 I just told him we got picked this week, so
00:10 I'm not really worried about the playoffs, but yeah.
00:12 [LAUGH] >> How did practice go today?
00:17 >> Practice today was good.
00:18 I feel like we all came out with the right mindset, good intensity.
00:22 It's always good when you're competing against our defense versus our offense.
00:26 We all got good players all the way around, so
00:28 it's just competition on competition.
00:30 >> Typically when you're on the road, you're expecting a hostile environment.
00:34 But when you get there, you see half the students and half the section,
00:37 and one section is on FSU fans.
00:38 What was that like seeing that?
00:40 >> That was amazing.
00:40 I ain't even gonna lie, cuz at my previous school,
00:44 fan base didn't travel that well when it came to us.
00:46 But seeing half of the stands filled with FSU, that was a special moment.
00:50 That was pretty fun.
00:51 >> How much more comfortable are you today?
00:52 We've seen some modifications a few months ago.
00:54 You said you're getting more depth and more real time.
00:57 >> I was just saying, I take it just game by game, day by day, week by week.
01:01 Just try to improve every other week of each game that comes up,
01:04 till it's time to hang them up, basically.
01:06 That was just my biggest thing, is just understanding and trusting my coaches,
01:09 trusting what they're saying to me, and
01:10 then just going out and executing what they ask me to do.
01:13 >> Kyle.
01:15 >> Coach Orville talks about response all the time.
01:17 He takes back to the Clemson game might not have been your best performance,
01:20 but the way you responded.
01:21 >> Yeah, no, the Clemson game, yeah, I was, yeah.
01:26 No, the Clemson game, that wasn't one of my best games, but
01:30 it was a big learning experience for me.
01:32 I'm just glad that my boy Darius, number 76, he was able to come in and
01:35 finish the job for me, get us in the dug.
01:37 But after that, I told myself, I was just like, you gotta get better.
01:41 It is what it is.
01:42 You decided to come here.
01:43 It's a big stage.
01:44 You saw what happened.
01:45 Don't let it happen again, so.
01:47 >> Is that just as much a matter of kind of locking in?
01:50 >> Yes, sir.
01:50 Just re-locking back in, understanding.
01:52 It was basically like a humbling experience, if that makes sense.
01:55 >> And now you always talk about how beneficial this has been for
01:57 you guys, the environment.
01:59 >> Super beneficial, super beneficial.
02:01 We're a very old, old line, a lot of banged up people, but we make it work.
02:06 It just shows you how big the unit is and how much depth we have to go out and
02:12 execute with eight, and there's no drop off.
02:14 That's the biggest thing.
02:16 >> Did it take you a little time to get used to that rotation in games, or
02:19 is that something you kind of saw the vision right away?
02:22 >> Shoot, we said it during spring.
02:24 Me, Rob, Darius, and Bless, we all just was like, either way,
02:27 whoever out there is gonna do their job.
02:29 It's all of us just to make sure that we on the sideline,
02:31 make sure those guys is executing.
02:33 Telling them what we're seeing on the sideline versus what they're seeing out
02:35 there, so it's just all family oriented, just a unit.
02:38 >> You mentioned that when you're on the sideline,
02:40 you get a few more different look at the defense.
02:43 Is it easier when you go back out there, be like, this is what I saw on the sideline,
02:46 because it's a different vantage point?
02:49 >> I would say it gives you more awareness just cuz you're more locked in,
02:51 cuz you're locked in on the field and off the field.
02:54 Cuz somebody can go down, you gotta be the next one up.
02:57 So it gives you an advantage, but I wouldn't say there's too much of an
03:00 advantage, cuz at the end of the day, you still gotta go out there and execute.
03:02 >> I think Coach Adkins talked about his appreciation that
03:08 you're just there every day, that you played your pain.
03:10 I mean, just before you developed that,
03:12 how important is it for you to be available to your teammates?
03:15 >> I'm a competitor, and I love my team.
03:17 So if it's just a little pain or something like that, I'll just fight through it.
03:21 Cuz I know there's other guys in there that's more banged up than I am.
03:24 So that's just the way my mindset is about that.
03:26 >> When you picked Florida State, did you think that this could be possible where
03:31 you guys are at right now?
03:33 >> Yeah, that's why I came here.
03:34 I ain't even gonna lie to you.
03:36 But no, I knew that this team was special from last year, and it was just like,
03:41 I just wanted to come be a part of something that's family oriented,
03:44 and something that cares about their kids and wanna go win.
03:47 That was just my biggest thing, and that's why I came here.
03:50 >> How much fun is it when you guys go back and forth like that?
03:55 >> Those are the times that you take for granted, like Jared versus Pat Payton and
04:00 all of us, when we just be joking around and everything after the plays and
04:04 all that.
04:05 Cuz we all know at the end of the day, we're competing, but it's still love.
04:07 So that's my biggest part that I love about it.
04:09 I love them guys.
04:10 I ain't even gonna lie to you.
04:11 Probably the happiest I've been since college.
04:14 >> I mean, what is it like going against Pat Payton and Jared versus practice?
04:17 >> We really gotta talk about that right now?
04:20 But no, it's cool.
04:22 Like, they great, great players, great players.
04:25 Jared, everybody knows who Jared is.
04:27 And then Pat, he's just a young buck that's coming up.
04:30 Like, it's just crazy the lineage of D-line that come through here.
04:33 Special cats, that's all I gotta say.
04:37 I got them a little bit today, but we ain't gonna talk about it.
04:39 >> [LAUGH] >> I'm sure you played some cold weather
04:42 games in your last school, and obviously, that will be the next quarter maybe.
04:45 >> Mm-hm.
04:46 >> For you, it's not a sign of what challenges you're gonna face.
04:48 You win, man, take it to practice.
04:49 >> Can't worry about it.
04:50 It's just all a mindset thing.
04:52 You gotta just go out there, worry about executing, getting it done.
04:55 It's gonna be cold, we can't control it.
04:56 You gotta just control what you can control.
04:58 It's easier said than done, but shoot, we got Norvale.
05:02 He makes sure that we know that it's not easier said than done.
05:04 Just go do it.
05:05 So it is what it is.
05:06 >> Kind of adding on to that, have you been trying out different cliques this
05:10 week at practice?
05:10 I know the field can be a bit of a pressure.
05:13 >> No, no, you've seen the movie, what's the movie called?
05:18 Like Mike, when he got his shoes, these my lucky shoes.
05:21 I ain't taking these off, I ain't gonna lie to you.
05:23 [LAUGH] >> How long do you have those shoes?
05:25 >> These, so my last pair broke, and then they gave me these ones, and
05:31 I've just been wearing them since fall, after fall camp, so
05:34 like at the beginning of the season.
05:36 >> Feel good?
05:37 >> Yeah.
05:38 >> Thanks, Jeremiah.
05:39 >> Thank you all.
