Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia’s position towards issues related to Batu Puteh is that both Malaysia and Singapore’s Attorney-General in particular should conduct discussions to resolve them.
Anwar said in a joint press conference with his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong on Monday (Oct 30), that this needed to be done although both sides have discussed it over the past 12 months.

00:00 And on Batu Putih, maritime boundary delimitation, I have suggested although we
00:09 discussed in Nenang about this 12-month period to try and resolve but our position
00:17 is that the both AGs in particular should then conduct the discussions immediately
00:28 to try and resolve because I think Malaysia and Singapore, Prime Minister,
00:35 should probably showcase how two great friends can try and resolve in a win-win
00:44 situation. I always in the lighter mood joke with
00:50 Prime Minister Hsien Loong that other than the dollars and cents, let us view
00:57 extensively as friends and I must welcome his position and even extending beyond
01:05 that into education, culture, and I think that would give a very good indication to
01:11 both our people that we are trying to try and enhance this sort of relations on a
01:18 strategic basis as true friends as a great team.
01:21 And that is why I am quite excited with the level of achievement which is quite
01:26 unprecedented. I am not exaggerating but I think looking
01:30 at the historical relations between both our countries, historical incidents,
01:38 clearly this arrangement as you can see in the joint statement and also the
01:44 deliberations, intense discussions that have taken place and the commitment is
01:50 unprecedented in terms of enhancing the level of working relations between Malaysia
01:58 and Singapore and I must therefore thank you personally, Prime Minister, and also
02:05 your team. Thank you.
02:07 Thank you.
02:08 Thank you.
02:09 Thank you.
02:10 Thank you.
02:11 Thank you.
