00:00 Abrahim.
00:07 Malaysia remains
00:10 consistent in its stance,
00:12 including
00:14 on the protection of our sovereignty,
00:17 rights and interests
00:18 in our exclusive
00:20 economic zones in the South China Sea.
00:23 We do so unwaveringly
00:26 in the face of all legitimate challenges
00:29 and claims.
00:31 In the light of this, it bears stressing
00:35 that Malaysia's security lies in
00:38 and with the region
00:40 and not from the region.
00:42 We leverage on our geographical location
00:45 as both a land
00:47 and maritime country,
00:48 striding
00:50 the most important trade routes
00:52 and economic position
00:54 as a key part
00:56 of various global supply chains to promote regional security.
01:00 Ominously,
01:01 on the geopolitical front,
01:03 Malaysia must continue to ride on our good relations
01:06 with both China and the United States
01:09 to promote stronger rules and norms-based order.
01:12 This order is not based on might
01:15 or the tendency to ignore
01:17 the very rules and norms one preaches about
01:21 when it is
01:22 inconvenient.
01:26 This is unconducive
01:28 and hypocritical.
01:30 What's good for the goose must be good for the gender.
01:33 So it must be an order based on fairness,
01:37 respect and understanding,
01:39 compassion
01:40 and international law.
01:42 This, Excellencies,
01:43 Ladies and Gentlemen,
01:45 is not a pie in the sky
01:47 because in our estimation
01:49 both China
01:51 and the United States
01:52 have affirmed their commitment to it.
01:55 It must go beyond
01:56 multilateral trade dealings
01:59 to the realm of practical
02:00 geostrategic architecture.
02:02 Thank you.
