00:00 Here's today's Husker Max Practice Report,
00:02 brought to you by Tracy's Collision Center
00:04 on 1,499.3 KLIN.
00:08 Despite the recent run of wins for Nebraska football,
00:11 head coach Matt Rule says he needs to see his team
00:13 improve in certain areas.
00:15 'Cause, you know, we played dominant
00:17 in some areas on defense,
00:18 but we gave up 130 yards rushing.
00:19 That's unacceptable.
00:20 We didn't have a fourth quarter shutout.
00:21 That's unacceptable.
00:22 We didn't win the turnover bouts.
00:23 Unacceptable.
00:24 And I respectfully say,
00:25 I don't try to think like good and bad.
00:26 I think about like, hey, what was up to our standard?
00:28 What was not?
00:29 Rule explains why he runs the scout team defense
00:31 and the benefits it can have.
00:33 Yeah, I've done it pretty much my whole career.
00:34 You know, I like to have those connections with those guys.
00:38 You know, there's been some years
00:38 where I do one day defense, one day offense.
00:40 You know, I just think it helps me
00:41 really identify young players.
00:43 And I, you know, I'll sit down and be like,
00:44 why is Kane over here?
00:45 Get him up with the defense.
00:46 Why is James over here?
00:48 You know, why is Sua?
00:48 Why is Vincent?
00:49 You know, if left to their own devices,
00:51 offensive coaches will make the guys just run cards
00:54 and stand here and get blocked
00:55 and they won't become good players.
00:56 With this Husker Max Practice Report,
00:58 I'm Matt McMaster.
