00:00 Welcome to the Karakoram Chronicles, the people show.
00:12 Check the pulse of Husker Nation.
00:14 Great job Trinity.
00:15 Brought to you by DPS Concrete Construction.
00:18 Check them out.
00:19 DPS Construction dot net.
00:20 Trinity, you did a phenomenally phenomenal job.
00:22 I know.
00:23 It's just because I'm so awesome.
00:24 She was practicing, and humble, practicing it repeatedly, literally right up to the second
00:29 before we were going to start the show.
00:30 I'm like, "Hey, we gotta go, we gotta go."
00:32 Alright, Trinity, couple of real quick things.
00:35 Alright.
00:36 What?
00:37 What's up?
00:38 Your soccer team just won the championship.
00:39 Oh yeah!
00:40 Congratulations.
00:41 I know.
00:42 I'm so proud of myself.
00:43 I did it all by myself.
00:44 They didn't help at all.
00:45 I scored like 20 million goals.
00:46 We need to do some media training.
00:51 We will get to that.
00:52 I know some people who might be able to help.
00:55 Also, her mom, Angie Carriker, is the coach, and she has actually been asked to do some
01:00 higher up things, so she's moving up the coaching ranks.
01:03 I know it's youth sports, but it's a lot of fun, takes a lot of time, and we're proud
01:08 of her and her mom.
01:10 Now, alright, is it okay?
01:12 Well, real quick, real quick.
01:14 What?
01:15 The cast.
01:16 I don't have a cast.
01:17 So we're recording this before Thursday, but this is going out Thursday morning, and she
01:21 sees the doctor Thursday afternoon.
01:23 So you're almost done with the cast.
01:25 Say goodbye to the cast.
01:26 Bye bye.
01:27 Thank God.
01:28 I think she stinks.
01:29 Alright, is it alright if we talk about the real football?
01:33 Can we talk some real football?
01:36 Like Spanish football?
01:37 No, like football.
01:39 American football.
01:40 Um, let me think.
01:41 Alright, we're going to talk some Nebraska football.
01:46 Can we agree on that?
01:47 Oh yeah.
01:48 Is your dream still to play soccer?
01:50 I don't know if I've ever told this on the show, and you're still very young, but is
01:53 your dream still to play soccer one day at Nebraska?
01:56 Did you know the Nebraska soccer team just won the championship, by the way?
01:59 Yeah.
02:00 Yeah, they're actually really good.
02:01 No, I shouldn't say actually, like I'm surprised.
02:03 I'm just really proud of them, so congratulations to the soccer team.
02:06 Alright, now here's a not-so-fun fact, but it could work in our favor.
02:10 Here's a not-so-fun fact.
02:12 Eight of the ten worst scoring offenses in the country are in the Big Ten Conference.
02:18 Six of those eight teams are in the Big Ten West.
02:21 Now I'm not going to tell you who they are, because you can probably guess.
02:25 Here's the deal.
02:26 There's only seven teams in the Big Ten West division, but it could work in our favor,
02:30 because a lot of those teams are teams that were going to play, and before you try to
02:34 point out one of those teams, I'm just going to say never let the facts get in the way
02:38 of a good story.
02:39 And if you're picking up what I'm putting down, hit that like button.
02:41 If you're not, but you want to, you still believe.
02:45 You still believe, because I do.
02:47 If we beat Purdue this Saturday, we're 5-3 and we've got a very good chance of going
02:50 to a bowl game.
02:51 So if you're with me, like me, like-minded with me, and you still believe Nebraska will
02:56 make a bowl game this year, and you feel like that would be pretty impressive by Matt Ruhle's
03:00 staff with everything they've dealt with offensively as well, okay, smash that like button.
03:05 Alright, so, Purdue, 2-5 coming into this game.
03:10 They really have one good game this year, and that's when they smash Illinois.
03:13 Other than that, they've really struggled this year.
03:15 As we know, the Cornhuskers are 4-3 coming into this game.
03:18 Alright, now, if we win this game, we do have an inside track going to a bowl game.
03:23 And that is still my barometer for success this year.
03:26 It has not changed.
03:27 I know the injuries.
03:28 I know there was talk of 7-8-9 wins, and after the Michigan game, the sky was falling.
03:33 Of course, obviously Michigan knew everything we were going to do before.
03:37 We knew, haha, bad joke time.
03:39 But here's the deal, we are slight favorites coming into this game, despite the injuries.
03:44 Okay, now, the Boilermakers.
03:46 They're 2-5, we're 4-3, but the Boilermakers are averaging 23 points per game.
03:50 They've rushed for 13 touchdowns this year, thrown for 7 more, a total of 20 on the year.
03:54 They're averaging 139 rush yards per game, which is 91st in the country.
03:59 Alright, their defense gives up an average of 395 yards per game, which is 94th in the
04:04 FBS, and they allow on average 30 points per game, which is 101st in the country.
04:10 Alright, real quick, let's give a shout out to our sponsor.
04:12 Alright, if you're a diesel mechanic, a CDL driver, or a concrete finisher, and looking
04:17 for work, if you're looking for work in those areas, in the Omaha metro area, DPS Construction
04:22 is the employer for you.
04:23 Check them out.
04:24 DPS Construction, at NET.
04:25 Alright, should we talk about our team, the team that matters, the Nebraska football team
04:30 real quick?
04:31 Yes, we need to win, because if we win, then we have a chance to go to a bowl game.
04:38 That is correct.
04:39 To go to a bowl game.
04:40 I love that you needed confirmation.
04:41 Alright, here we go.
04:42 Now, versus Northwestern a week ago, the Blackshirts only allowed a 52.2% completion percentage.
04:50 On the air, the Blackshirts have only allowed 6 rushing touchdowns, and they're only allowing
04:54 19 points per game.
04:55 Now, I'm really not sure what to expect from our offense, okay?
04:59 But I am genuinely curious, dare I say excited, to see who's going to surprise us on offense
05:07 versus Purdue, because that's kind of how I view it, that's kind of how I see it.
05:10 I talked about it earlier in this week.
05:12 If you missed that show, go back and check it out.
05:14 Okay, again, Nebraska's slight favorites, the over/under on the game is 42.5 points.
05:18 I'm going to be honest with you, that seems really high to me.
05:22 The total scores of our last two games combined, Illinois and Northwestern, those two games'
05:27 total scores combined was only 53 points.
05:30 Okay, and that was with more healthy players on the offensive side of the ball for the
05:34 Huskers.
05:35 Here are five keys to the game.
05:37 I don't come in with a predetermined three keys, four keys, two keys, one key, zero keys
05:41 to any game.
05:42 I just write down what I think matters most.
05:44 I've never had five keys to a game before.
05:47 Let's light this candle, shall we?
05:49 You ready?
05:50 Wait.
05:51 Match.
05:52 Oh my God.
05:53 Candle.
05:54 I love that we don't do more than one take, and I love that we don't rehearse.
05:59 The first key is this.
06:01 The defense has to continue to play great.
06:05 They've allowed a total of 16 points in the last two games.
06:09 They have to play great, just like they have.
06:12 Number two, and admittedly two and three are keys that I had for last week's game, but
06:16 they may be even more important for this week's game.
06:18 The second key is the offense has to score in the red zone.
06:22 We were 127th in the country in red zone offense last week.
06:25 We're actually 128th in the country in red zone offense going into this Saturday.
06:29 We have to capitalize when we have scoring opportunities.
06:34 And to be frank with you, I don't know how many we're going to have.
06:37 Now this next key, like I said, it was important last week, it's important again this week.
06:41 Important enough for me to repeat it.
06:43 We can't lose the turnover battle.
06:46 We don't have to win it.
06:48 I'd really prefer if we did.
06:49 But we cannot lose it.
06:52 Next up, special teams with defensive score.
06:55 Man, that would sure be nice.
06:57 It really would.
06:58 We have to run the ball first.
07:00 Let's come out running the ball first, please.
07:03 And impose our will going in and to and through the second half.
07:09 Now so far in our score prediction contest, Jacob is actually beating me 4-3.
07:13 So I really need a win this week.
07:16 So here's Jacob's score prediction.
07:18 What's he have for Nebraska?
07:19 Nebraska 13.
07:20 Purdue.
07:21 Purdue.
07:22 Purdue.
07:23 10.
07:24 10 points.
07:25 Nebraska wins 13-10 according to Jacob.
07:26 Not going to lie to you.
07:27 That was going to be my score prediction.
07:28 So I let him keep his and I changed mine.
07:35 I have Nebraska 14, Purdue 7.
07:38 I'm going to roll with that.
07:39 I'm good with that.
07:40 Here are the questions I have for you fine folks at home.
07:41 Hit me up in the comments below.
07:42 What is your score prediction for the Purdue game?
07:44 Okay, versus Nebraska this Saturday.
07:46 What is your single biggest key?
07:48 If you could only pick one, what's your single biggest key to Nebraska winning this game?
07:51 And will we score a non-offensive touchdown this game?
07:54 And I bring it up again to make sure you're paying attention.
07:56 If you're watching this, you better notice his shirt.
07:59 It's awesome.
08:00 But you want to know what's better?
08:01 It's an awesome kid.
08:02 Which is me.
08:03 Because I'm awesome-ness, so I'm also an awesome kid.
08:04 Alright, alright, alright.
08:05 So a couple of things.
08:06 Number one, we're going to work on the media training.
08:07 The personality is in full effect.
08:08 Also, her birthday is coming up.
08:09 So that might have something to do.
08:10 Eight days and...
08:11 Got caught.
08:12 I'm going to tell you what.
08:13 I'm going to tell you what.
08:14 I'm going to tell you what.
08:15 I'm going to tell you what.
08:16 I'm going to tell you what.
08:17 I'm going to tell you what.
08:18 I'm going to tell you what.
08:19 I'm going to tell you what.
08:20 I'm going to tell you what.
08:26 I'm going to tell you what.
08:27 I'm going to tell you what.
08:28 I'm going to tell you what.
08:29 I'm going to tell you what.
08:30 I'm going to tell you what.
08:31 I'm going to tell you what.
08:32 I'm going to tell you what.
