00:00 Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we are looking at, as best we can, every single Assassin's
00:12 Creed project we never got to see.
00:14 For this list we'll be looking at all confirmed Assassin's Creed projects that were either
00:19 cancelled in the middle of their development, or abandoned before they'd ever had the
00:23 chance to breathe.
00:25 Assassin's Creed already has too many games to keep up with, let's make this collection
00:28 even more convoluted by talking about ones that don't exist.
00:32 Would you like to have seen any of these?
00:33 Let us know in the comments below.

00:44 Assassin's Creed Titans.
00:46 We are starting off with this relatively unknown entry, not because it lacks the excitement
00:51 of any of the future entries, because let's be honest, this entry sounds like it would
00:55 be a fantastic game.
00:56 No, we are starting off with this entry because it has the least amount of evidence to prove
01:00 that it was actually in development.
01:03 Details about this exciting Assassin's Creed spin-off were originally posted anonymously
01:07 on 4chan by someone who claimed that they were on the development team.
01:11 It was later featured on r/gamingleaksandrumors.
01:15 The leaker claimed the game was internally referred to as Project Titans, and it would
01:20 have been renamed with the full release.
01:22 This Assassin's Creed spin-off would be more similar to games like Dauntless and Monster
01:27 Hunter where players would hunt and kill "great beasts" around the map while fighting through
01:32 lesser creatures during their adventures.
01:35 They claimed that all assets were created 100% from scratch, and that they had developed
01:40 the intro and about 8 hunting missions before they were told to stop, presumably by Ubisoft
01:45 who at the time were cancelling games left, right and center.
01:49 The post went into some pretty substantial detail on the story as well, explaining that
01:53 the main character was in training at Abstergo, being trained on an experimental version of
01:59 the Animus that could now create hypothetical historical scenarios as well as the traditional
02:03 real historical scenarios.
02:06 The game was an MMORPG with all active players being stuck inside the Animus and following
02:11 a path of missions to find their escape.
02:14 The detailed introduction as well as the explanations on how the main hub, the Villa, would behave
02:19 makes this an easy concept to visualise.
02:22 But was this a developer sharing their knowledge, or a random troll getting creative?
02:28 We may never know.
02:29 Assassin's Creed, The Invisible Imam and The Eye of Heaven.
02:33 Books.
02:34 Ewww, I know, how boring.
03:00 Designed for release back in 2007 on the 1st of November, this first book written by New
03:05 York Times bestseller Stephen Barnes was to follow the story of Abdul Wahid, a man born
03:11 to a Muslim father and Christian mother who launches a quest for vengeance against the
03:15 marauders who murdered his parents and destroyed their peaceful village.
03:19 Awesome.
03:20 That is until he comes to the attention of the Hashashin, a mysterious cadre of warriors
03:24 that offers him the chance to combat evil as the servant of a higher power.
03:29 This book, as well as the follow up titled Assassin's Creed The Eye of Heaven and the
03:33 unknown third entry were ultimately cancelled despite Markel Palmieri of Pocketbooks, the
03:38 publisher, showing high interest in this trilogy.
03:42 Extensive planning had already gone into these novels, with the second book, The Eye of Heaven,
03:46 already having a rough plot including Abdul continuing his quest for vengeance with a
03:50 new antagonist and a broader modern day story arc.
03:54 Even though the books were cancelled and never saw their 2007 release, a similar story titled
04:00 The Invisible Imam was included in Stephen Barnes 2010 book Assassin and Other Stories.
04:07 Assassin's Creed Da Vinci's Workshop
04:09 With the highly anticipated VR title for Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed Nexus VR being announced
04:15 just 3 months ago, it's easy to follow a development timeline from that back to the unreleased
04:20 Assassin's Creed Da Vinci's Workshop.
04:22 This entry is slightly different to other entries on this list as it wasn't technically
04:27 cancelled as plans for commercial release were never assured by Ubisoft.
04:31 Da Vinci's Workshop was eventually revealed to be a student VR project developed as a
04:36 collaboration between Ubisoft and NHTV, a university located in the Netherlands.
04:41 The game itself was quoted by one of the developers as being a co-op escape room where players
04:46 must solve numerous puzzles inside Leonardo's workshop to recover a piece of Eden.
04:51 Despite Ubisoft being one of the biggest developers in the world to actually be investing in virtual
04:55 reality, at the time they had no Assassin's Creed virtual reality experiences.
05:00 It was made clear by project lead Tim VanCaan that the game would likely not be seen by
05:05 civilian eyes when he was quoted saying "there are currently no plans for commercial release
05:10 of the game or any kind of distribution".
05:13 Some people were optimistic that even without a commercial release they may still have caught
05:17 glimpses of this project at trade shows and events, but 6 years on that's a dream worth
05:22 letting go of.
05:23 It was also believed that this was possibly just Ubisoft testing the waters to carry one
05:28 of their biggest franchises to virtual reality.
05:30 With a VR title set for release, it's hard not to believe Da Vinci's Workshop was a stepping
05:36 stone to Nexus VR.
05:39 Assassin's Creed Movie Sequel
05:41 As one of the biggest video game franchises of all time, and with a story that is so easily
05:45 malleable and bendable to fit any medium, it's no surprise that Assassin's Creed saw
05:50 a film adaption.
05:51 The 2016 movie adaptation of Assassin's Creed was intended by 20th Century Fox to kickstart
05:57 a long lasting film franchise, however the anticipated sequel, Assassin's Creed 2 never
06:02 came to fruition.
06:03 The initial film loosely adapted the series first game, featuring a futuristic setting
06:08 and the journey of Cal, portrayed by Michael Fassbender as he time travelled to the 15th
06:13 century to extract ancestral information.
06:16 This process as we all know involved tapping into his genetic memory stored in his DNA,
06:19 enabling him to acquire skills in combat, assassination and parkour.
06:23 Unfortunately the Assassin's Creed movie faced various issues including a convoluted
06:28 plot leading to unfavourable reviews and a mere 18% Rotten Tomatoes score.
06:34 Although the film generated $240 million globally at the box office, this figure was considered
06:39 disappointing especially given the movies $125 million budget.
06:43 Nevertheless 20th Century Fox remained committed to the franchise, even contemplating the possibility
06:48 of 2 sequels and exploring the concept of setting Assassin's Creed 2 during the cold
06:53 war.
06:54 Despite the potential for improvement over the original film, Assassin's Creed 2 ultimately
06:58 failed to materialise.
07:00 The reasons for cancelling the sequel were obviously clear, but it wasn't until Disney
07:04 acquired Fox in 2019 that these clear reasons were put into action and Disney cancelled
07:09 the 2 planned Assassin's Creed sequels, as well as dozens of Fox projects.
07:14 From Super Mario Bros in 1993 to Prince of Persia The Sands of Time in 2010, Disney has
07:19 never had great success with video game adaptations, so it was no surprise that they took the strong
07:25 stance to axe these ongoing projects.
07:28 Assassin's Creed Utopia
07:31 Assassin's Creed Utopia was a mobile game developed by Ubisoft in conjunction with Kabam
07:36 that was planned for release on all Android and Apple iOS devices, but based on everything
07:41 else you've heard on this list, we don't need to tell you what happened.
07:45 It was assassinated.
07:46 Utopia got far enough into development for players to see concept art, test footage screenshots
07:51 and learn some early specifics, including the setting.
07:55 Utopia was set to be spread across hundreds of years, beginning with European colonisation
07:59 in America, and specifically the establishment of the Roanoke colony in the following 150
08:04 years leading to their historically recorded failure.
08:07 It would then take place in the same time period as the then upcoming Assassin's Creed
08:11 3, and tell tales from the American Revolution, although game producers confirmed that there
08:16 would be no crossover between the two games.
08:19 Select testers were given a look and a chance to experience their playable demo in 2012,
08:24 and it was expected for a winter release in the same year.
08:27 The winter release was confirmed, but by February 2013 at the end of winter, nothing had been
08:32 said, released or explained by Ubisoft.
08:35 In November 2013, almost a full year after the game's original intended release, Ubisoft
08:40 Netherlands officially informed Dutch video game website Gamer.nl that the game was cancelled,
08:46 but don't worry, they elaborated and explained why.
08:49 I'm just kidding, they said f*** all.
08:52 Thanks a lot Ubisoft, may as well throw my phone in the bin now.
08:56 Assassin's Creed Lost Legacy
08:58 The legacy we never knew we'd lose, this entry was officially announced and officially
09:02 disappeared as quick as we could say requiescat in pace.
09:06 Assassin's Creed Lost Legacy, a game for the Nintendo 3DS, was being developed fully and
09:11 totally by Ubisoft.
09:13 Its initial announcement took place at the 2010 E3 convention, where it was revealed
09:18 alongside Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, however there has been little information about it
09:23 ever since.
09:24 The game's storyline revolved around Ezio Artitore, who following the events of Brotherhood,
09:29 embarked on a journey to the village of Masyaf in search of more knowledge about AltaĂ¯r,
09:33 the central character from the original Assassin's Creed.
09:36 Fans quickly noticed the striking similarity between this plot and that of Assassin's Creed
09:40 Revelations, the subsequent instalment after Brotherhood.
09:44 Ubisoft had initially intended to continue Ezio's story with Lost Legacy, but eventually
09:48 chose to merge it with Revelations.
09:50 In an interview with Darby McDevitt, the writer for Revelations, the cancellation of Lost
09:55 Legacy was confirmed.
09:57 He said "You may have heard of the game Lost Legacy for the 3DS.
10:00 It was announced, but that kind of morphed into this idea."
10:03 The story that was announced about Lost Legacy was that Ezio goes to Masyaf to investigate
10:08 the Holy Land.
10:09 Internally, the game was cancelled in September 2010, but its cancellation was not officially
10:14 confirmed to the public until July 2011.
10:17 No screenshots or videos were ever released, except for the logo.
10:21 Since it technically saw the light of day as a different game Revelations, any work
10:25 on Lost Legacy has likely been erased or abandoned.
