00:00 Today was a good Tuesday.
00:01 The guys came out with good energy.
00:03 I thought we had good physicality throughout the practice.
00:06 Trying to set a couple different things, atmosphere,
00:09 a few periods where we didn't have the same outside influence.
00:16 Trying to go back on the road.
00:18 We gotta prepare ourselves for all situations, for the momentum swings that we face.
00:23 We've seen that already at this point by three games.
00:27 They're away from home and there's been really good moments, but we need 60 minutes.
00:33 And so trying to change it up a little bit on the guys, but
00:35 I thought they came out with a good attitude.
00:38 Meetings were really good this morning.
00:39 Obviously, things were had to clean up, still being the first day of introducing
00:43 some of the looks at what we're gonna see and what we could possibly face.
00:46 But I thought the guys had the right mindset and approach and
00:49 I thought I was pleased with the work.
00:50 >> It looked like Deuce had some nice moments up there today,
00:55 just having a big throw like that on the side.
00:59 >> I mean, it just can continue to get better.
01:01 I mean, I think Deuce, he's done some really good things in his growth and
01:06 development.
01:07 It's great to see him out on the great stage and be able to perform.
01:11 And obviously, it gives you confidence,
01:14 cuz you grow in confidence through your experience.
01:16 And he's done some good things at receiver.
01:18 He's obviously carried that over today and you can see, like I said,
01:21 Sunday night, I could see a little different balance in him.
01:24 And then today, he made some really nice plays, just continuing to grow and
01:28 just be the best he can be.
01:28 >> How about a guy like Jackson West?
01:32 What do you see from him recently?
01:33 >> Yeah, Jackson, he was very limited there in fall camp, but
01:38 I love what I see from Jackson, man.
01:40 I think he's got a bright future here.
01:42 I mean, he's tough, he's physical, he can run.
01:45 He really has grown a lot as a route runner.
01:47 And it's just that consistency of building upon that, but
01:51 I'm very pleased with what I'm seeing from him and his progression.
01:54 >> A few weeks ago, you mentioned the underdog,
01:57 those top three, three, and five, J.A.
02:00 Those guys, I like what you're seeing.
02:01 You keep seeing more, I guess, since then, I'm assuming.
02:04 >> Yeah, I mean, it's still about consistency.
02:06 And you can see great flashes, but it's a play in and play out.
02:11 Guys building the trust in the guys that are next to them and
02:14 building trust in the coaches that they're ready to go out there and make an impact.
02:17 But definitely seeing some positive improvement throughout the course of
02:22 the year, but just want more consistency.
02:24 >> What are some of the challenges the Spanx defense presents?
02:27 >> I mean, they're gonna shift, move, I mean, everything.
02:30 The line games, they'll pressure.
02:32 They do a little bit of both.
02:35 And they're gonna fast fill with their safeties.
02:40 I mean, they're gonna miss a couple things coverage wise because of that.
02:43 But it's kinda in line in their own unique presentation of it.
02:47 Probably as multiple of a group as what we faced in just being able to go in and
02:52 out of the four down to the three down.
02:55 Some of the packages that they'll show, and so it's definitely challenging.
03:01 >> Did you, I mean, I obviously saw just the way they were making last week,
03:05 and just I guess, speak to the resiliency of this.
03:07 >> Yeah, I mean, I saw the replay and
03:09 I think they're gonna do all things.
03:14 I mean, it's hard to win games and when you find a moment,
03:18 they obviously got an opportunity there with a two minute drive and
03:22 they went down and executed.
03:23 And I know Pitt has to be pretty sick about it just for how it played.
03:29 And it's one of those challenging things.
03:33 It happened to us last year in our last regular season game,
03:37 where trying to avoid contact in a big hit, but
03:41 classified as a slide and went back to the one yard line.
03:44 So we've had that happen to us a few times and it's just, it's a challenge.
03:51 But I'll tell you, it speaks to weight for how they responded.
03:54 I mean, they get a third string quarterback goes in two minute drive and
03:58 to find a way to win it at the end, that was impressive.
04:02 >> After the game, Narduzzi said that he wanted to teach his quarterback in that
04:04 moment to just dive forward because the slide doesn't.
04:08 Is that something you would talk to Jordan about?
04:10 >> Yeah, we've had, absolutely.
04:12 I mean, that's been 100%.
04:15 And it's just, we try to, I mean, you look at,
04:19 I think Clemson did in their first game of the season.
04:22 Clemson's quarterback on a fourth down and seven, same thing.
04:26 Just right there at the stick, went to slide and flip possession.
04:31 So you try to help educate guys on all things.
04:35 And that's a big part of some of the things we do off the field and
04:40 make sure we're trying to present all those opportunities to get better.
04:44 >> We didn't see Dennis Saturday.
04:48 >> Yeah, so Dennis is, he was out last week, probably gonna be out again this week.
04:54 But we'll get him back here soon.
04:56 He was just unavailable, but had to have a little, got banged up a little bit.
05:02 But Dennis has played really well.
05:04 He obviously tested a little bit of the depth of what we have.
05:08 But I like that group.
05:09 And I think Malcolm Ray's the guy that's really kind of come along.
05:12 Daniel Lyons is pushing to get more opportunities.
05:16 But it was unfortunate for him cuz he's been playing really well.
05:20 But I'm excited to get him back soon.
05:21 >> I was gonna ask about Daniel cuz he got in for a couple of snaps, but
05:24 he got in for a couple of them.
05:26 I mean, Daniel right now is a redshirt freshman.
05:29 He's growing, he's getting better.
05:30 He's got a great future in front of him.
05:34 And I always tell guys, you never know when your numbers will be called.
05:39 And within that week, he got more reps.
05:43 He did a good job with it, which allowed him to be able to get on the field.
05:46 You play in games like that, you never know every play,
05:51 especially what they do.
05:52 And for Daniel to put himself in that position, I was proud of him.
05:55 >> Shane Brown was a guy who went under the radar of the crew.
05:58 I think you guys got in on him pretty late, is that true?
06:00 >> Yeah, so I mean, Brian Allen is high school head coach,
06:05 he was a former Seminole, or past player, let me say that.
06:10 But he called me about midway through the season.
06:12 And he said, Coach, I mean, he goes, I think I got one.
06:15 Like this kid, his description is like he would have played on the teams
06:19 that I was a part of.
06:21 And so I got a chance to watch Shy, and I mean, it was like I loved him.
06:24 Just the versatility, I mean, he played corner, safety, linebacker,
06:28 everything you can imagine.
06:29 I offered him that day, and getting to know Shyam, I mean,
06:33 it was the ultimate belief of what he would grow into.
06:39 And to see him come in, really, we have some guys that are kind of like that.
06:44 They play everything in high school, and now they come in and
06:49 trying to focus in on a position, to master a position.
06:51 Blake Nicholson is kind of a guy going through that right now.
06:54 And you just see the development, and he's very coachable.
06:58 He wants to be great, and you see him playing at a very high level.
07:03 I think his last couple games, he's played as good as anybody.
07:08 So I'm really proud of him for that.
07:09 >> We talked about the atmosphere Saturday, but
07:13 the moment either the [INAUDIBLE] >> The councilman, yes, sir.
07:19 >> [INAUDIBLE] >> So, I mean, it was really cool.
07:23 And I know I talked a little bit about it last week.
07:25 Last year, I went down to the Brighton Field Fest Days Festival,
07:30 or Field Days Festival.
07:32 And so I got to meet many of the council persons,
07:38 I guess, within the Seminole Tribe.
07:40 And it was really remarkable.
07:43 I mean, to see just the passion, the care,
07:48 the responsibility that we have to represent Seminole Tribe of Florida with
07:52 how we play here is, I mean, you talk about that unconquered spirit.
07:56 And I thought about that.
07:58 They came into the locker room with us afterwards, and
08:02 to see him plant the spear.
08:05 But just to have a game where that showed up, that spirit,
08:10 the things that make Florida State football pretty remarkable.
08:14 I thought that was put on display and
08:16 honored the Seminole Tribe of Florida at a very high level.
