Geri Halliwell-Horner, known to many as Ginger Spice, is admittedly the 'laziest person you will ever meet' for beauty care, so the nightly goal is to get her skincare routine done as quickly as possible. This Spice Girl’s routine consists of using minimal products, like the cleansing balm she unexpectedly found at the airport, the tool she's used for years, and her self-love mantra that coincides with skincare.

00:00 Hello Harper's Bazaar, I'm Geri Halliwell-Horner.
00:04 Are you ready to go to bed with me?
00:05 If I'm really honest, at the end of the day,
00:15 I quite like bimbling about,
00:18 and it's kind of like a little bit of me time.
00:20 But if any of you have the gift of a partner,
00:24 which I do, I have a husband,
00:26 they're still quite impatient,
00:27 it's like, "Come on, get to bed.
00:28 I want to turn the lights out."
00:29 So the thing is, I'm quite tired anyway,
00:32 so I don't want to take too long.
00:34 And I'm probably the laziest person
00:36 you'll ever meet in beauty care.
00:38 I am.
00:39 I'm just tired and I want to go to bed.
00:41 So I want to do this as fast as possible,
00:43 and as simply as possible, but I'm vain.
00:46 Okay, so we're going to use like
00:50 as minimal products as possible.
00:53 And I like to keep it natural, all right?
00:54 Keep it simple.
00:56 But first, I'm going to brush my teeth.
00:59 Here we go.
01:00 (upbeat music)
01:02 All right, all right, I won't break them.
01:13 Everybody does that, right?
01:16 Okay, that's a basic necessity.
01:19 Brush your teeth.
01:21 Okay, so this is brilliant, okay?
01:25 This is take the day off, which is quite ironic
01:29 because after the day you've had,
01:31 it's quite like therapeutic mentally.
01:35 Take the day off, start again, all right?
01:38 And it's really, really simple.
01:40 Put it in, it's like a balm,
01:43 and you can put it on anything.
01:47 And you can process your day.
01:50 Oh, everyone really got on your nerves.
01:53 And you can just like wipe it off.
01:57 I found this product by mistake.
01:59 I was at an airport.
02:01 I love shopping at airports.
02:03 I think, oh, this is my little gift to myself.
02:06 And it's all you have to do, and it takes it all off.
02:09 Okay, you don't like that.
02:12 And then you can either do it with a flannel,
02:15 a wet flannel, and that's it.
02:17 It's literally wipe your day off.
02:22 Wipe all the negi vibes.
02:25 You can do eyes as well.
02:27 Wipe the negi vibes off, all right, like that.
02:31 I'm gonna confess,
02:33 I sometimes go to sleep with my makeup on.
02:36 But I actually like my makeup the next day.
02:40 You know that sort of like sunken in look?
02:42 I kind of like it.
02:43 It's very '90s.
02:45 In the '90s, I didn't have skincare regime.
02:48 I was just like, get on with it.
02:50 I think maybe I use Nivea,
02:53 which is, you know, it's like a nice cold cream.
02:56 My mum used it.
02:57 I quite like it still.
02:58 I just think as you get older,
03:00 it's just life happens,
03:01 and you're always, you know, giving to other people.
03:04 So it is quite nice just to stop and say,
03:07 okay, this is my moment.
03:09 Matter.
03:09 Okay, this is really good as well.
03:11 I've had it for years.
03:12 It's a Clinique brush.
03:13 You can use this balm again, okay?
03:16 And then this is really good.
03:18 And it like stimulates like circulation.
03:21 Okay, you do that.
03:22 And that just can get everything off.
03:26 I just like to keep things quite natural.
03:30 I don't, you know, for me,
03:32 like, I don't want to look younger.
03:36 I just want to look my best.
03:37 That's it.
03:39 I think I want to say to my brothers and sisters,
03:44 you know, my fellows that are younger than me,
03:47 I mean, it's all right to get older.
03:48 You know, this is the way it is.
03:50 And you just, you know,
03:51 make the best of what you've got.
03:52 It's a gift.
03:53 I'm going to go and wash this off.
03:54 This is your most basic beauty routine.
04:04 The funny thing is,
04:06 people say to me,
04:07 oh, you know, you look good for your age.
04:09 Well done you.
04:10 And I'm like, what do you do?
04:12 Not that deep.
04:15 Okay, so I've worked with L'Oreal before in the past,
04:18 and this is really good.
04:19 It's very simple.
04:21 It's a little serum.
04:22 Okay.
04:24 This is probably when you've got a little bit of extra time
04:29 if you just do this.
04:30 Put it on your eyes.
04:33 That's nice.
04:36 And it's like,
04:37 really moisturizes your skin.
04:43 That's it.
04:45 But then I've discovered something I absolutely love.
04:49 You can wear it during the day,
04:51 but I actually, I'll put it on any time, okay?
04:53 It's called Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Cream.
04:56 Why I like it, it kind of feels traditional.
04:59 It feels like,
05:01 it feels like a cold cream.
05:03 I really, really like it.
05:04 See, I've used it a lot.
05:06 But I just like, I'm always putting it on.
05:08 I like cream that feels like thick,
05:11 and it feels like,
05:13 you know, you could use it when you're a granny.
05:16 I just like that.
05:18 But the thing is, my skin feels really nice afterwards.
05:22 I really like it.
05:24 I discovered this project not so long ago, actually.
05:26 Maybe, I don't know, this year.
05:29 I've seen it used before by other makeup artists,
05:32 and I know Charlotte, and she's amazing.
05:34 But here's the thing, what I think about
05:37 any form of self-care.
05:40 It's like, there's something about it.
05:42 It's saying you're enough, that you count.
05:46 There's sort of something really loving,
05:48 irrespective of what the cream is that you choose.
05:50 There's something about taking it all off
05:52 and going, "Do you know what?
05:54 "I'm gonna give you this 'cause you count."
05:57 But I've got one more thing that I wanna do.
05:59 Because I think, the truth is,
06:01 beauty is an inside job.
06:03 'Cause you can put all these creams on, which is great,
06:06 but if you don't feel good here,
06:08 it's not quite as good.
06:11 And sometimes, we might need
06:13 a little bit of outside validation.
06:15 Doesn't it feel wonderful when a girlfriend says,
06:18 "You're amazing," or, "You can do it."
06:21 But sometimes that doesn't happen.
06:23 So, I'm gonna share with you one rule,
06:26 just one rule, that's gonna empower you.
06:28 That's it, here we go.
06:30 It's a really basic one.
06:33 It's really simple, it's have courage.
06:35 That's it, have courage.
06:36 It means just go for it.
06:37 So when you wake up in the morning,
06:39 it's there ready for you.
06:40 Like, yeah, you can do this.
06:41 Just like, if you put on a good cream,
06:43 the next morning you feel like, "Oh, I feel fresh."
06:46 Part of my nighttime routine, the wind down,
06:55 my favorite thing to do is take a good book with me.
06:59 I love reading, and my favorite thing about bedtime
07:02 is having a really good book to escape with.
07:06 And I've got this new novel,
07:07 "Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen."
07:11 And it's about finding the courage you never knew you had.
07:14 So, I'm gonna recommend you take her to bed with you too.
07:19 There you are.
07:20 Thanks for going to bed with me, Harper's Bazaar.
07:22 That was my nighttime routine.
07:24 It's very simple.
07:26 It was lovely to share it with you.
07:27 Anyway, I'm going to bed, I'm a bit tired.
07:29 Good night.
