00:00 >> Great competition out there today, third down red area like normal.
00:03 Thought guys had a lot of juice and fire out there on the field.
00:06 And did a great job, can open it up.
00:08 >> Any explanation about the late hit on the ball?
00:12 >> I did not.
00:12 >> You've had three of those now, is there just concern?
00:16 Like on one hand it's consistent, but not in your favor.
00:19 So is there concern about late hits on your players that are going on call right now?
00:23 >> Yeah, I don't know that there's that many.
00:25 I mean, those are judgment calls in the heat of the moment.
00:28 I don't think that anybody's blatantly not trying to call late hits on our guys.
00:31 It's football.
00:33 They're doing the best job that they certainly can do.
00:35 We certainly want to protect our players and that's always mission one.
00:38 >> Monday you said the effort was increased.
00:41 Has that carried over to Tuesday to Wednesday?
00:43 >> Yeah, I'd say the passion and intensity was a little too much yesterday, right?
00:48 And we've got to level that out because there's a rule of diminishing returns to
00:52 where when you have so much juice you can't focus on the job at hand.
00:55 And today that was much better.
00:57 In other words, definitely intensity out there on the field.
00:59 But it's the leveling that out and feeling where that passion's at.
01:03 >> The DPS is as high as they were on Monday, speed wise?
01:06 >> Yesterday?
01:07 Yeah, we had good numbers yesterday.
01:10 I haven't seen today's yet.
01:11 >> How much the new offensive coordinator there from Morris to Arbuck,
01:14 obviously he said that he's seen change there.
01:16 And what pressure does he have on the play call?
01:19 >> Yeah, well, they create explosive plays, right?
01:21 They create a lot of explosive plays.
01:23 Like I said, this really mirrors a lot of what Texas Tech has done in the past.
01:26 He came from Western Kentucky.
01:28 He keeps a lot of the things that they did really well last year as part of
01:31 the system and they've added some new wrinkles.
01:33 But obviously he has an elite quarterback and
01:35 he knows how to distribute the ball.
01:36 >> As someone who's dealt with outside noise before a lot this season and
01:39 last season, what do you make of the way that Jake Dickard has kind of dealt with
01:43 a lot of the stuff this year, whether it's conference realignment or
01:46 coaching search stuff that he's done?
01:49 >> Honestly, I don't know much about it.
01:50 But I'll say this, I'm impressed with Jake.
01:52 He's a pro, he does a great job.
01:54 Coaches his tail off.
01:56 Yeah, I'm familiar with his background, but
01:58 I don't know much about the outside noise.
02:01 >> Cam said he kicked us out of bounds too in that single corner placement.
02:06 Is there something he can rectify?
02:07 You hope that Grant can appear in at least a couple more games for
02:10 you in that role?
02:11 >> Grant's played for some already.
02:13 I think Cam can go out there and execute his job at a higher level.
02:15 And I think Cam would be the first guy to tell you that.
02:17 So it's happened.
02:19 It's something you gotta keep working and improving on.
02:21 And Cam's certainly capable of doing that.
02:23 >> Bucky had a career high in carries this past game.
02:26 His average is more or less in line with where it was last year.
02:29 But do you see his role picking up in terms of average carries per game going
02:32 forward?
02:33 >> I think his role will embrace whatever it takes for
02:35 us to win the game and have success.
02:36 And he will always do that.
02:38 But obviously, he's a great bat.
02:39 Anybody that watches him can see that.
02:41 >> Talk about a bunch of Monday.
02:43 I'm curious what you've seen from Ope this year.
02:44 Kind of just helping the brother out and kind of getting up to speed.
02:47 >> I think I told you guys earlier that Ope is an unbelievable leader.
02:51 He is a voice that everybody respects on our team.
02:54 He always has a great message.
02:56 This guy has a smile on his face every single day he steps here.
02:58 He knows how blessed he is to be here.
02:59 He comes from a phenomenal family and so does Poncho.
03:02 But yeah, he's a special guy.
