A big loss in the Premier League.
Transcript
00:00 Starting with Everton, a really tough result on the weekend, losing to Luton Town at home.
00:07 This is a game where you went into it and you thought Everton might be in and around that area again this season,
00:14 but they can't lose this game and it all seemingly went wrong.
00:17 What sort of changes does Deutsch have to make going forward now?
00:21 I don't think they can not lose. I think they can not afford to win, to be honest with you.
00:26 When they get back to the international break, they've got a real tough run of fictions as well.
00:31 They've got the Merseyside derby against Liverpool, they've got West Ham and Brighton, I think it is.
00:35 If Everton don't pick up anything at this game, then you're looking at it thinking,
00:39 'Where do the next games of Everton pick points up from?'
00:42 Just going back to Saturday, it just seems the same old story really.
00:49 Everton starting the game well, creating a few chances, conceding a goal,
00:53 and then they run out of ideas, to be quite frank.
00:57 The second half was really poor, just aimless lumps into the box to Calvert-Lewin and Beto.
01:04 No real patterns of play, to be honest with you.
01:08 I can't remember the looting keeper making a save in the second half.
01:12 He gobbled everything up that was in the air, sold the defenders, it was meat and drink for them.
01:16 More goals conceded from set pieces.
01:20 Sean's no doubt going to make changes to his team now.
01:23 You're probably looking at the full-backs, that's the young,
01:28 disappointers on the right, Crossan, really been so lacklustre since he arrived.
01:36 You'd thought of his experience, he'd be someone who'd be able to consistently hit blue shares,
01:41 but that's not proving the case.
01:43 Vitaly Mikhalenko got caught out the back post for Carlin Morris' goal,
01:47 which I do feel a little bit sorry for Mikhalenko.
01:50 He should have probably, we're not privy to, he probably should have communicated better,
01:55 or maybe he should have just picked up Morris, the danger man, rather than the other player.
01:59 But Everton should have been better organised, he should have had real leaders who sourced that out.
02:04 In the midfield, Sean's just, he tries to get James Garner into his team,
02:10 which a lot of fans are advocating, but he's starting wide right.
02:16 At home, you're playing 4-5-1 to Luton.
02:19 I mean, these are the games that Everton have to go and take it to teams.
02:25 I think we've all seen the stats now that come out at Everton.
02:29 The home, the former Goodson Parking Community promoted sides,
02:33 it just shows that Everton struggle when they have to take games to the opposition.
02:38 I think Everton have got to go more on the front foot now and have more of an attacking threat,
02:43 because there was only two out-and-outs forwards who started that Luton game.
02:50 That was Dominic Calvert-Loony scores, and Dwight McNeil, who again, his role was a little bit uncertain at times,
02:57 drifting inside, trying to pick it up and know he wants to be playing for freedom.
03:01 But when you're playing 4-5-1 and the midfield's already quite packed,
03:06 then you've got McNeil moving inside as well.
03:09 It just doesn't provide the whip you need.
03:13 I'd like to see Everton go 4-3-3.
03:20 The midfield, there's a case for Garnaghey who came off at half-time.
03:24 I think Everton looked worse without Garnaghey on the pitch, to be honest with you.
03:28 There's a case for Amadou Ognana to be benched.
03:31 He was excellent in the two games before, and against Bremster, Nassau and Villa.
03:36 It's just frustrating because he's got so much ability but can't find consistency.
03:41 He's a young player, so that's a mitigating factor.
03:44 Then Abdelayde Takora, at home, for all of his attributes,
03:47 he's not someone who really can look after the ball as well as some others.
03:52 You know what I mean?
03:54 Passing can be a little bit way with the time.
03:57 You've got to weigh up your middle three, maybe James Garner,
04:01 Idrissa Garnaghey and Amadou Ognana, potentially.
04:04 Then the front three, Calvert-Lewin.
04:07 Maybe a little bit of a surprise, he starts ahead of Beto.
04:10 Then you've got Jack Harrison who came on at half-time,
04:13 who's certainly an option now, you think, from the start after two games,
04:16 under his belt.
04:17 Then McNeil probably on the left, or Dan Dewmill.
04:21 Sion's ice has got to have a different approach here,
04:24 because Bournemouth will watch that and think,
04:26 "If they do that to us, then we've just got to soak up the pressure for a little bit
04:30 and maybe hit them on the break or catch them on a set piece."
04:34 Everton will capitulate, like they have done.
04:39 Yes, it changes things as Everton go on to that international break
04:43 on the back of two defeats at home, five defeats at home,
04:47 at Goodstone Park this season.
04:49 Then it's a real worry and questions are going to start to be asked, I think.
