00:00 >> All right, really good day today for our players.
00:02 They came out here and they competed really hard.
00:04 I thought yesterday wasn't as good of a practice.
00:05 We challenged them coming in, and they really brought it today.
00:08 So third down red area again today.
00:11 Good compete across the board.
00:12 We're gonna get better and excited for this weekend.
00:14 >> No music at practice, part of the drilling home is to bring your own energy
00:17 kind of deal?
00:18 >> Yeah, we're just recognizing this environment's gonna be a little bit
00:20 different.
00:21 We need to change the environment a little bit at practice.
00:22 >> Did you get an explanation from the Pac-12 on the hits on Puffy?
00:26 >> I haven't seen him yet, no.
00:28 >> You talked earlier this week about wanting to learn to win on the road.
00:31 What does that specifically look like?
00:32 Are there things that you guys did at Texas Tech that you didn't like that you're
00:35 trying to change specifically?
00:37 >> I thought Jalen Hurts said it perfect the other day when he was talking about
00:41 one A and one B.
00:42 One A, win, right?
00:44 One B, play to the standard.
00:45 If you do either one, right, without the other, you're gonna feel unfulfilled.
00:49 Right, and that's really what it's about for us is making sure we hit one A and
00:53 one B.
00:53 We wanna play to the standard and we wanna win the game, right?
00:55 But win the game most importantly.
00:57 We were able to do that at Tech, but
00:58 we didn't feel like we played to the standard.
01:00 And that's what we wanna make sure we bring this week.
01:02 >> Some of the younger running backs kinda stepped up and
01:04 shown something in practice here that they are ready.
01:06 >> Yeah, we've got plenty of guys back there that can tote the rock and
01:09 are ready to go.
01:09 But it's not just toting the rock, it's how they do in protections.
01:12 It's what they do from a routing standpoint.
01:14 But we have the guys there that can do a good job.
01:16 And like I said before, you're not gonna fill a no in anything shoes.
01:19 What that guy's done for our team, you can't fulfill that.
01:22 But we do have good players on our team that can help us there.
01:25 >> I kinda hit on two of the trades there.
01:26 He was more or less like the third down back, particularly in the passing game.
01:30 Are there certain aspects of his game that make it hard for
01:33 you to just replicate or
01:34 help ensure that you have a guy that can replicate until they do it?
01:37 >> We have talent on our team that can replace some of those things that he does,
01:41 right, but you're not gonna replace him, right?
01:42 And he wasn't just a third down back.
01:44 He was in everything for us.
01:45 He did it all.
01:46 And we were fortunate to have the best running back group, in my opinion,
01:50 in this conference.
01:51 So I think we still do.
01:53 I think we still have dynamic pieces there.
01:54 And there's some guys that you probably haven't seen that I think can do
01:56 big things.
01:57 >> Have you guys established a track and field roster yet?
02:03 >> We have.
02:04 >> Has energy in the D line been any different this week after seeing the break
02:07 out performance against Hall of Fame?
02:08 >> I think anytime you have a performance where you perform well,
02:12 I think that builds confidence, right?
02:13 And then you build off of that.
02:16 But we're not playing last week again, we're playing next week, right?
02:18 So it's about what you do now.
02:19 I thought the guys, like I said, today was a great practice.
02:22 Yesterday wasn't, and I told our guys that.
02:24 So they really attacked it today.
02:26 they got after today, but it's gonna be about what we do on Saturday and
02:29 up until Saturday.
