Philippe will create rough seas and gusty winds as it approaches Puerto Rico and part of the Lesser Antilles in the coming days.

00:00 Alright, the tropics somewhat quiet pertaining to the United States, the U.S. coastline is.
00:06 We're not looking at a close encounter with the tropical system along the U.S. coast.
00:11 First time in a couple of weeks we had Lee and then we had Ophelia.
00:14 But we are tracking some storms, at least one storm here.
00:18 This is Tropical Storm Felipe.
00:20 Get about 500 miles to the east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands.
00:25 It's getting, it's having a lot of problem getting better organized.
00:29 And we think that the organization of Felipe is going to be a problem as we move forward
00:36 here.
00:37 A general westerly movement here.
00:38 There's going to be at least some rain we think as we head into Sunday and Monday across
00:44 the northern Leeward Islands.
00:45 Perhaps middle part of next week we may get some precipitation around the Virgin Islands,
00:51 Puerto Rico, we'll see.
00:52 This has been meandering around.
00:54 It's going to be, it's track is going to be very erratic.
00:56 But the one thing you do notice, it will be losing wind intensity but not moisture so
01:01 we'll continue to track it.
01:02 By the way, we're still looking at this tropical wave.
01:05 This is the one we've been highlighting all week.
01:07 This is Felipe by the way, so this is very close to Felipe and that's part of the problem.
01:12 The combination of wind shear, winds coming in out of the west with this system and its
01:17 proximity to Felipe tells me this is going to have a lot of trouble getting better organized.
01:22 But even if it does, the important thing to note is I don't think we're looking at any
01:26 impacts to the United States with this tropical wave even if it does develop or even Felipe.
01:34 Now, there is a scenario where I see some of this moisture from Felipe starts getting
01:38 drawn into Florida mid to late next week.
01:40 The pattern across the United States is somewhat concerning next week.
01:46 You have this dip in the jet stream.
01:48 You have high pressure here across the northeast.
01:50 So look for an area of rain and thunderstorms and even low pressure to develop here mid
01:56 to late next week.
01:57 Now, the question is can it sit over this warmer water to develop and become a tropical
02:02 system like Ophelia?
02:04 I'm not sure, but I will say this.
02:06 If we're going to get impacted from a tropical system over the next week, the area to watch
02:12 is going to be the southeast coast of the United States because of this setup as we
02:16 get in the latter half of the week.
02:18 So that's why we have that area highlighted as a zone to watch.
