00:00 Now, Candace Cameron Bure was accused of homophobic behavior
00:03 on the set of Fuller House by co-star, Miss Benny.
00:06 Miss Benny, who played Casey on the show,
00:08 alleged that Candace tried to have her character,
00:12 the first out gay character on the show, removed.
00:15 The actress said in a TikTok video,
00:17 "One of the Tanner sisters is very publicly
00:19 not for the girls, if that makes sense."
00:22 I remember I got sat down by the writers and the studio
00:24 to basically warn me how this person allegedly
00:27 was trying to get the character removed
00:29 and not have a queer character on the show.
00:31 I was also sort of warned and prepared
00:33 that this person's fan base might be encouraged
00:35 to target me specifically.
00:37 Well, Candace responded to the allegations
00:39 via a statement to Entertainment Tonight,
00:41 telling the outlet, "I never asked Miss Benny's character
00:43 to be removed from Fuller House
00:45 and did not ask the writers, producers,
00:47 or studio executives to not have queer characters
00:50 on the show.
00:51 Fuller House has always welcomed
00:52 a wide range of characters."
00:54 Candace also explained that she didn't share any scenes
00:57 with Miss Benny and that was why they didn't talk on set.
01:00 She also complimented the actress's performance saying,
01:03 "I thought Miss Benny did a great job as Casey on the show.
01:07 I wish Miss Benny only the best."
