00:00 >> They're not having Travis Hunter, what are your observations on Tate?
00:04 How do you think that impacts their secondary and their defense?
00:07 >> Well, obviously he's a really good player, one of the best in the country.
00:11 At what he does, he plays a lot of snaps, he plays very fast and physical.
00:16 So losing a player like that on the defense is tough, but
00:21 they're gonna do a good job in the back end.
00:23 They've done a really good job everywhere else throughout the season, so
00:25 I don't anticipate it being much different.
00:28 Maybe some of the coverages might change slightly, but I won't anticipate it.
00:33 We just gotta see what they're gonna do during the game and
00:35 just know that they're gonna be kind of moving around all over the place and
00:39 do sort of everything.
00:40 >> You played Shadler earlier in your career,
00:42 he's a productive guy back then in 2020.
00:45 What do you see on film?
00:46 Is he the same player that you remember from years ago?
00:49 Is he a different guy?
00:50 What does he bring to that sector?
00:51 >> Yeah, he does a good job.
00:53 He's always in the right spot.
00:55 He does a really good job making open field tackles.
00:57 He does a really good job when the ball's in the air.
01:00 He does, obviously, a good job in man to man, and he's a good safety.
01:04 And I anticipate him being all over the field,
01:07 making a lot of impactful plays for him.
01:09 >> But what do you guys do to handle the hype for this game?
01:13 >> Well, we just go to work and we let that noise stay outside and
01:18 we let it kinda, we let the fans and everybody else outside of the program
01:23 handle all the noise.
01:25 And we just go to work and we wanna do whatever we can to be prepared for
01:28 the game and handle our preparation.
01:31 Going into the game so that we can be prepared for the game and
01:34 we can go out and play fast and we're ready for the moment.
01:39 And with games like these, the buildup is always big and
01:44 a lot of us have played in big games.
01:47 They've played in big games, so it's gonna be a high intense game once we get
01:53 out on the field, but I expect it to settle down as the game goes and
01:57 just be football again.
01:59 >> The defense has created I think ten turnovers so
02:01 far tied for the most in the country.
02:04 It just makes them so opportunistic.
02:06 What have they done to the offenses to create those?
02:09 >> Well, I just think they're very multiple on defense.
02:13 They're everywhere at times and they do a good job of getting to the passer and
02:17 they do a good job of affecting when the ball's in the air.
02:20 And also, they do a good job of tackling the ball.
02:23 They go after the ball and force some fumbles and get some turnovers that way.
02:27 So they're just an aggressive team and they're gonna do a good job in that area.
02:30 >> I'd like to have a chance to look at their defense a little more and
02:32 film schematically.
02:33 But how similar is what they're running to what you saw against Bama in your time
02:38 in Auburn or maybe Tennessee, one of those teams that just, it's very similar to
02:43 even to what you guys do in practice every day now.
02:45 >> Yeah, it's a little bit similar with the coaching tree,
02:49 with some of their coaches being around that kind of coaching tree themselves.
02:55 But at the end of the day, a lot of teams, especially in our conference,
02:59 they do a lot of similar things.
03:01 And like I said, they're very multiple, so they can get into about anything they
03:05 want and they're probably gonna be very game plan specific.
03:08 So they'll do a good job of game planning against us and
03:12 they're not just gonna line up and do what they do.
03:14 But they're gonna try to, another way they're aggressive and
03:17 force turnovers is they game plan different week.
03:20 And so I think they're gonna have a good plan.
03:23 >> It seems like you're sliding a bit more this year.
03:27 Is that just something that happened because of your injury at the end of last
03:31 year where you're more conscientious about taking out hits?
03:34 >> How many slides have I slid?
03:35 >> Good question.
03:37 >> So how do you know if I've slid more?
03:38 >> It just seems like compared to last year- >> No, it has nothing to do with that.
03:41 I think a run's a run and you gotta protect yourself in this league.
03:46 And so bring me that stat next time, I'd like to see it.
03:51 >> Coach said you guys are working on deep shots a little bit this week.
03:54 You've obviously hit on a few, but obviously you wanna hit in on as many as
03:57 possible.
03:58 How close or not do you feel like you guys have been to just hitting just a couple
04:01 more?
04:01 >> Well, I mean, I think we've been fairly explosive with a good completion
04:05 percentage.
04:06 You're gonna miss those.
04:08 You're gonna not be in sequence every once in a while.
04:12 You gotta get in that rhythm there in practice.
04:13 But it is important for us to complete those shots vertically,
04:17 cuz that opens up the run game.
04:18 And when they're there, we gotta hit them.
04:21 And we've hit one about every game.
04:23 So we plan on continuing to do that and hit them when they're open.
04:26 But it starts in practice, you gotta hit them in practice so
04:29 it translates over in the game.
04:31 Can't expect it just to go out there and happen for us.
04:33 Even though we got really good players and really good scheme,
04:36 we gotta practice and do that throughout the week.
04:39 >> Deion said you're gonna have to corner a bad guy by committee with Travis.
04:42 Just kinda your impressions of their secondary,
04:45 what kind of challenges they're gonna present to you?
04:47 >> Like I said, very multiple.
04:48 They got a lot of different guys that have played a lot.
04:52 A lot of guys that can play man to man, can play zone coverage.
04:56 And so with their multiple schemes, they're gonna do a good job of changing up
05:00 the looks.
05:00 They're gonna press, they're gonna bail, they're gonna play off.
05:03 So we expect to see all the looks and they're gonna do a good job of
