49ers vs Giants Prediction: Can Giants Overcome the Point Spread?

00:03 Let's take a look at the first game this week.
00:05 49ers a huge home favorite this week, 10.5 points.

00:11 Barkley has meant so much to that offense.
00:13 The Giants have essentially played one quarter and a half of good football this season.
00:19 And by the way, there's been eight quarters for those of you who are keeping track at home.
00:22 They came back.
00:23 They ended up rallying the troops against Arizona.
00:28 Very hard to know what to make of the Giants.
00:30 Jacob, I know the 49ers are good, but it is 10.5 points in the National Football League
00:37 where generally speaking teams do not win very often by more than 10.5 points.
00:43 And we know what these Thursday games are like.
00:45 You have any feel early on on this one?
00:48 This one is tough to get a pulse on at this point because of the injuries on both sides.
00:53 And you just don't know.
00:54 Even if the 49ers, I think that they're going to win this game.
00:57 But if they get up big, they could take their foot off the gas.
01:00 And we saw that happen in the Giants-Cardinals game.
01:03 And the Cardinals let the Giants come back and win that.
01:06 Now, I don't think the 49ers are going to do that.
01:08 They have a much better defense than the Cardinals.
01:10 But all it takes is for the 49ers to be up 17 late and let a garbage-time touchdown happen.
01:16 So this point spread scares me.
01:18 But I don't think you can bet on the Giants right now as they're currently constituted.
01:22 Because as you mentioned, they've played maybe one and a half quarters of good offensive football.
01:26 They struggled immensely against a very good Dallas Cowboys defense.
01:30 The 49ers have a strong defense as well.
01:33 Maybe not as sound all around, but they have a great pass rusher in Nick Bosa.
01:38 And they're going to get to face this team without Saquon Barkley,
01:40 who as you referenced is huge for this offense.
01:43 Without him, their weaponry is really subpar outside of Daniel Jones, who will have to carry the team.
01:48 That just doesn't seem like a good proposition to me in this type of spot.
01:52 And the 49ers, as I mentioned, Brandon Iuk, we don't know what his status going into this game is.
01:57 But they have plenty of weapons with McCaffrey and Kittle and Deebo Samuel.
02:01 I think Brock Purdy will get the job done against the Giants defense that has allowed 34 points per game.
02:06 And that was against the Cowboys, who are a good team, and the Cardinals, who are really not.
02:11 So I just have no confidence in the Giants.
02:14 I know the spread's high, but the 49ers could win this at another 40-0 type game in my opinion.
