00:00 Everton in the community have hosted an event for participants of a 12-week
00:05 health and well-being program. As the Toffees official charity they've been at
00:09 the forefront of social intervention across Merseyside since 1988. L4 is a
00:14 massive part of Everton Football Club and yeah it's important that even when
00:19 we leave we go down Bramley Moor this place will still be the same it'll still
00:23 get the same attention and yeah it's something we're really really proud of at Everton.
00:28 Commissioned by Knowsley Council the safe and steady falls prevention
00:32 program delivers a series of a low-impact physical activity sessions
00:36 for residents across Knowsley who have experience of falls or who are at risk
00:41 of them. I've had the opportunity to speak to the residents and they are
00:45 absolutely impressed by the way the difference it's made to them and as an
00:50 NHS worker I know I'm working on Norther Peterport the difference that this can
00:55 make to avoid people from having falls injuring themselves broken hips so I'm
01:00 really impressed by the way but I'm impressed by the people in Knowsley who
01:04 are delivering the services they are unbelievably fantastic. The celebration
01:09 event at the Blue Base included a graduation ceremony for the participants
01:13 who've recently completed the 12-week program as well as massage therapy
01:18 sessions, mini Olympic exercises such as boccia, indoor bowls and archery. All of
01:23 the participants that started on the program and have finished have all
01:27 actually continued on to the exit program so it's been really effective
01:32 for them and they've clearly enjoyed it. Quite a few of them that were housebound
01:35 before they started this program and they're all now engaging in regular
01:39 social activities now so that's that's been a really good outcome from it. I
01:44 think there was about six of them around six who weren't getting out of the home
01:49 so they're all into regular regular social activity outside of what we're
01:52 doing even. 100% of participants who completed the program reported improved
01:58 strength and balance as a result of their involvement. One individual was
02:02 even able to walk upstairs for the first time in 10 years. Well the exercise is
02:07 really good. She didn't overdo it. She's just normal at her own pace.
02:15 It was also good to get out the house. You know we'd be sitting in all day.
02:23 And we did an exercise. We used to didn't we? We used to go to the gym which we
02:30 can't anymore because it's too much and these were exercises that we could do
02:36 and we could do at home. The program also delivers a comprehensive range of
02:41 evidence-based health and well-being support to assist older people to
02:46 improve health well-being and overall quality of life. Being at Everton Football Club is
02:51 just not about playing on that football field it's about things like this. The
02:55 community is so important to Everton Football Club. All participants of the
02:59 program receive a health MOT and lifestyle support workshops from the
