00:14 Dr. Rob Zadiska, you were in the stadium on Saturday night.
00:18 We got a win.
00:19 You got a win, but it was interesting because you started texting me right away and you're
00:23 like, "At 520 I want the fumble for the diagnosis."
00:26 You were automatically thinking about the diagnosis all the time.
00:29 Well, I was and a lot of it is because when you look at this opponent, when you look at
00:33 Northern Illinois, they're not a great team.
00:36 The strength of the team, however, where they do have some very legitimate talent and they
00:42 do consistently play well is on the defensive line.
00:46 That was something I don't really want to always focus on an opponent's strength, but
00:52 I think it illustrates just some of the problems that Nebraska is going to be facing when they
00:56 get into the Big Ten season, where if you've got Northern Illinois' defensive line getting
01:02 after it, causing some problems during the game, what do you think is going to happen
01:06 week in and week out where you get these big, fast, athletic defensive lines across the
01:13 board throughout the Big Ten teams?
01:15 What I hear him saying is a reoccurring theme so far in the diagnosis has been the offensive
01:19 line and it could be a reoccurring theme for maybe the rest of the season.
01:22 Let's go to the first quarter.
01:24 This is the fumble you're talking about.
01:27 It is.
01:28 The play right here, one of the things I want people to focus on, there's a couple of players
01:32 here.
01:33 You've got 51 for Northern Illinois, you've got 18.
01:36 51 is Cade Haberman, he's an Omaha Westside grad, heck of a football player, should be
01:42 in Lincoln.
01:43 Sorry, I'm on a little bit of a soapbox with him right now.
01:45 Anyway, it's a play action.
01:48 It's a very good run action play.
01:51 You've got the right guard, Lutoski, coming up and pulling.
01:56 You've got the tight end in motion.
01:58 The problem is that Ben Scott at center right here has to be far more aggressive on his
02:04 block.
02:05 Here, Ben Hart at right tackle needs to be far more aggressive and he has to get on 18
02:12 way quicker than he does on this particular play because these two guys, Haberman and
02:17 number 18 here at the edge position, those two guys end up, they just blow this play
02:24 up.
02:25 You've got two guys, two senior guys, two upperclassmen, and Ben Hart, you've got Ben
02:32 Scott who's been playing well.
02:34 Both of those guys getting blown up on this play, leading to the fumble.
02:39 And the field goal that ended up resulting from it, Nebraska's defense came out and played
02:43 great after that turnover, held them to a field goal.
02:46 That was the only point, basically through the end of the third quarter, that Northern
02:50 Illinois was able to muster.
02:53 And so again, you're seeing a problem that still needs to get fixed in the sense that
02:59 really the only points that the opponents got in meaningful game action was off of a
03:06 turnover.
03:08 It's little things like that that are still haunting Nebraska.
03:11 And I know it was only the one turnover, but those are things Nebraska is going to have
03:16 to fix when they go back out against some of the better teams that are still on their
03:21 schedule.
03:22 You brought it up, long term the competition is going to get a lot stiffer.
03:25 It is.
03:26 Northern Illinois, like I said, the strength of their team, their defensive line is actually
03:31 a very good defensive line.
03:33 And in fact, you look at 51 Habermann, you look at, I think it was number 8, it was one
03:37 of the single digit D linemen, that still throws me off.
03:41 Those two guys lived two feet on Nebraska's side of the line of scrimmage.
03:47 And if you're a line guy, you know exactly what that means.
03:50 When the defense is playing on your side of the line of scrimmage, that's a bad thing.
03:56 And Northern Illinois' defensive line played about two feet on Nebraska's side the entire
04:02 game.
04:03 When you're watching the game, if you see a play that you'd like to see Dr. Rob diagnose,
04:06 just send us an email at DoctalkSports@gmail.com.
