00:02 All right, good work day to day for our guys.
00:05 Definitely excited to go see this opponent and
00:07 open it up for questions from there.
00:08 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:10 >> Camden Lewis.
00:11 >> No, he's doing some stuff for class work.
00:13 He was finalizing some stuff for NBA.
00:15 He was here for meetings and everything else and
00:17 was able to do some stuff outside of.
00:18 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:20 >> Through two weeks, just what do you make of your team's statment?
00:24 >> Yeah, hot and cold, right?
00:25 Really good week one, not as good as week two, right?
00:27 So we're drilling it a lot in practice right now.
00:30 We're gonna make sure those show up.
00:32 It's also about finding the right tacklers to put in a position to make
00:34 tacklers, right?
00:35 Guys are gonna be willing tacklers.
00:36 >> Is there anybody who's really shown a tendency to do that,
00:39 that you've been really impressed with, to be a willing tackler?
00:41 >> I think we're still finding it, right?
00:43 It's too early to say.
00:45 >> On Monday, you talked so much about passing interferences and
00:48 emphasizing that.
00:48 What have you guys done to coach that up this week and
00:50 how did the guys respond to it?
00:51 >> Yeah, a lot of drill work.
00:52 False starts, passing interference, both, right?
00:54 So creating drills that mimic the game, right?
00:57 And then recreating those moments.
01:00 >> In general, how do you think the offensive line has joked now that you've
01:02 had a couple weeks to assess?
01:04 >> Same, kinda hot and cold, right?
01:05 Moments really, really good, and then moments not good enough.
01:09 But I think that we'll continue to drive and get better.
01:11 Those guys are working at it.
01:13 >> What has Moffay brought in that kind of third tackle, sixth on line role, and
01:17 that 14 personnel package in particular?
01:19 But even beyond that, just what has he brought in this year?
01:22 >> Yeah, he's got great size, and the guy just does everything right.
01:25 He's a great leader.
01:26 People don't realize it, but he's one of our best leaders right now as far as what
01:29 he asks and coaching from the sideline.
01:31 When he gets his moments, he takes advantage of them and does a good job.
01:34 >> I feel like Jackson's handled the center, he gets the snaps,
01:37 the free snap calls.
01:39 Alex is a big shoes to go.
01:41 >> Yeah, and he's taken a lot of pride in it.
01:43 I thought he did well in the last game, was one of the things we commented on,
01:46 especially with a lot of moving parts, that he handled that well and
01:49 executed well.
01:50 >> How do you think he handled the, talking about the stems and
01:53 everything this past week, and I don't know what the line of thrudge in that regard.
01:56 But as a first time starter in that kind of capacity,
01:59 I think he handled that component of things that doesn't fall star capacity.
02:03 The adjustments.
02:04 >> Yeah, as a unit, we have to handle it better, but
02:06 overall I thought Jackson handled it really well.
02:08 >> What is the impact of a defensive leader, if that linebacker's out for
02:13 the season, just what have you seen?
02:15 How many plays or even a film have been a knock with him on the field?
02:20 What can you discern of how that impacts their defense?
02:23 >> Yeah, I mean, not a ton, right?
02:24 So ultimately what we do know is everyone they put on the field,
02:27 they play with great effort, right?
02:29 It's probably one of the best teams as far as how they go relentless effort
02:32 every single play and they play with a mentality.
02:34 So whoever they put out there, we'll have to be ready for them.
02:36 >> Penalties aside, what have you made of Perry Jackson's play so
02:41 far in these first two games?
02:43 >> Yeah, I think he's done some things really well and
02:44 I think he's done some things that he can improve on, right?
02:47 He's made some big plays at interception right after the pump block was a huge play.
02:51 Talk about momentum swing, putting the fire out.
02:54 Same time, communication continued to improve,
02:57 consistency can continue to improve, but he has the ability to be a good player for us.
03:01 >> To that point on the punt block, I guess, what took place there and
03:05 what have you done this week to correct that part?
03:07 >> Yeah, a little miscommunication about where we're working to from a tackle
03:11 standpoint, that we gotta do a better job in the shield, and we've assessed that this week.
03:16 >> Teams always make jumps from game one to game two or three.
03:19 What do you see from the groupings from start of the season to now?
03:23 >> Yeah, really the things that we just targeted, right?
03:26 One, we can't beat ourselves, right?
03:27 I think part of being here at home with a great environment from our fans is gonna
03:30 be a big part of that.
03:32 But that playing a clean game and
03:33 playing with the physicality that we know we're able to play with.
03:35 >> I'm gonna tell you this was a cross chop,
03:38 it was like a hero step around the tackle.
03:40 Is that something you came here with?
03:41 And I guess how impressive is it that a freshman can execute that move at
03:45 the highest level?
03:46 >> Yeah, it's something he worked before he ever got here, and
03:48 it's something he's built and developed even more since he's been here.
03:51 And there's a couple of our guys that can execute it, right?
03:53 The key there is not getting too far past the level of the quarterback when you do
03:57 it, right, and be able to cut that edge.
03:59 So something will work, and something he'll continue to work, and
04:02 he's done a good job of it.
04:02 >> What's Matt Bridenstine's status?
04:05 >> He's not with the team.
04:06 >> Yeah.
04:06 >> Silly question, David, but they've got to change the kickoff song for
04:12 you guys, but for years it had been Joker and the Thief, and it changed.
04:16 I mean, fans notice that, just is that a team or player-led thing, or
04:19 is that just something that somebody in ops got involved with?
04:22 >> I don't know, I didn't know it changed.
04:23 I didn't know what the song was before.
04:24 >> [LAUGH] >> I was watching the kickoff unit.
04:27 >> [LAUGH] >> Another silly question,
04:30 you said the other day you have nothing to do with the uniform selection.
04:33 Who does, who's in charge of that process?
04:35 Kenny is a player.
04:35 >> Yeah, Kenny meets with our players, collaborates, obviously,
04:39 with the people that give us a great fit with Nike and
04:42 maps that out before the season starts, and we kinda piece it together.
04:46 >> Is it different players week by week, or?
04:48 >> I don't know.
04:49 Our players help set it up.
04:50 >> Good, all right, thanks, coach.
04:53 >> Appreciate it.
04:54 - Thank you.
