00:00 - Hello everyone, we are here with the Kyle Gordon,
00:03 Mr. DJ Crazy Times, what's up, how are you feeling?
00:06 - Oh amazing, the stars are out tonight,
00:08 this is just an amazing evening, it's incredible.
00:11 - So talk to me, when you wrote,
00:13 "When the rhythm is glad, there is nothing to be sad,"
00:17 what was that about, like what was going through your mind?
00:19 - Yeah, you know it's hard to explain,
00:21 I feel like it came to me in a dream almost,
00:23 and you know it's like one of those things
00:25 when I just like awoke from my sleep
00:27 and I just had to find a pencil and write it down,
00:30 and I think it really was like almost a religious experience,
00:33 I think God herself kind of gave that line to me, yeah.
00:36 - 100%, and I feel that listening to it.
00:38 Yeah, no for sure, it is religious.
00:41 - Yes.
00:41 - And talk to me a little bit about Planet of the Bass
00:43 and how that came to be, did you,
00:45 and I wanna know about Billionaire Electronica,
00:47 like what is the deal?
00:49 - Yeah, so the short story is DJ Crazy Times
00:52 was a character I've been doing literally since college,
00:54 just like goofing around with my friends,
00:56 and then I started posting videos early in the pandemic
00:58 as that character, but when I knew I was gonna come out
01:01 with this album that's coming out in the fall
01:03 where like I do a different genre parody for each song,
01:06 that was when I knew, oh God,
01:07 I should do an original DJ Crazy Times song,
01:10 and then the idea to have Billionaire Electronica,
01:14 you know, I knew I needed like a female singer,
01:16 so I got this incredible singer,
01:18 Chrissy Poland to sing the vocals,
01:20 but for like the promo videos,
01:21 I had like a different actress each time,
01:24 and that was kind of an homage to like this very weird
01:27 phenomenon in 90s Eurodance music
01:29 where like these European acts,
01:31 they'd like have a hit song with an original singer,
01:34 and then just, and they'd be like, just screw it,
01:35 let's just get a random actress in the video,
01:39 and so yeah, it was kind of a homage and parody of that.
01:42 - And I need to know what it was like
01:43 getting the call from the Jonas Brothers,
01:46 that they were like, we want you to perform
01:47 this crazy song that's you as a character,
01:50 like what was the deal, what was rehearsal like,
01:52 tell me everything.
01:53 - Yeah, literally, Nick Jonas just DM'd me on TikTok,
01:58 and was like, yeah, do you wanna come do this thing,
02:01 it's Joe's birthday, and then so,
02:03 but like between when I knew that I was gonna perform
02:07 with them and when I actually got on stage,
02:09 that was 24 hours, so we got there at like five or six,
02:13 we sound checked for like five, 10 minutes,
02:16 and then just kinda went with it, yeah.
02:19 - Holy shit, sorry, can I say that?
02:22 I was like watching that and I was like
02:24 living vicariously through you guys,
02:26 because I can't imagine what it was like
02:28 to put that out there and then see the reception,
02:30 what was that like?
02:31 - Yeah, it was like crazy, and like the song
02:34 had only been out, the full song came out that day,
02:37 so the full song had only been out for like six hours,
02:41 so yeah, to see, to literally have the song drop
02:44 and then a few hours later perform it
02:46 in front of like 20,000 people, it's just like bananas.
02:50 - Insane, so tell me what you're most looking forward
02:52 to tonight, 'cause this is really exciting.
02:54 - Yes, I think probably Lil Wayne, seeing Lil Wayne,
02:58 like for me and like my friends in high school,
03:01 like it just doesn't get any bigger than Lil Wayne,
03:04 so like to actually see him is gonna be pretty mind blowing.
03:08 - I can't wait to see you, Lil Wayne, either.
03:10 Thank you so much for stopping and chatting,
03:12 I just wanna shout out quickly, Kyle's brother Sam
03:16 is literally editing our videos, so shout out to Sam,
03:19 we love you, thank you so much for hustling.
03:21 Wow, I wanna drink the water that the Gordon family
03:24 is drinking, yeah.
03:25 - All right, Sam, I'll see you tomorrow.
03:26 - Dope, thank you so much, thank you, have fun in there.
