00:00 Jan Wenner and I are friends, we've been friends for 40 years.
00:03 And we were advertising in his magazine,
00:08 and at times he would give me a gift,
00:11 like a Christmas gift or a birthday gift or something.
00:14 He would always give me past covers
00:18 or past issues of Rolling Stone.
00:21 So I have a collection of vintage Rolling Stone magazines
00:25 in my home.
00:27 And I remember, you know, I'm a Rolling Stones fan,
00:31 so he gave me the different covers of Mick Jagger,
00:35 Keith Richards, David Bowie, Dylan.
00:39 He gave me a Led Zeppelin cover or magazine.
00:46 I used to sell Rolling Stone magazine in my stores
00:50 before I started Tommy Hilfiger.
00:52 I had stores in upstate New York called People's Place,
00:57 and I sold everything from incense to bongs
01:01 to albums to cool clothes.
01:05 But I also sold magazines,
01:06 and Rolling Stone was the magazine.
01:10 He was in the zeitgeist.
01:11 He knew exactly which musicians were going to make it big,
01:16 and he would descend upon them before they really exploded.
01:21 exploded.
