00:10 >> I think Coach Moussaf is pretty critical of how they play defensively.
00:15 But I don't want to talk about that they weren't disciplined in their past
00:17 wrestling.
00:18 So when you're trying to read a defense, if they're not doing what they're quote
00:22 unquote supposed to be, how much more difficult does that make your job,
00:25 if at all?
00:27 >> Sometimes it's tough cuz you may know what they're trying to do schematic
00:33 wise on defense and if something changes or
00:37 somebody's out of gap, it can actually throw off the offense sometimes.
00:39 So all that is is just seeing where they are and
00:46 expecting them to be somewhere but then just reacting.
00:49 If they're in different spots, but they got a good defense.
00:52 >> After watching the film, just what did you learn about your offense?
00:55 I think that you have full understanding of Derek Fortenhammer.
01:00 >> Well, you just finally get to see guys in real action.
01:02 A lot of new guys, a lot of guys that weren't with us last year.
01:06 You get to see how they respond to a competitive environment like that.
01:10 And so I thought we did a good job of playing clean.
01:13 That was really the main thing is we played a sharp game,
01:16 kinda did what we were supposed to do.
01:18 >> When you're going into a week with the opposing defensive coordinator,
01:20 his coach at the school, and players on your team have played Fortenhammer.
01:24 Are you having conversations with Jamal or Steve, Jeff, or
01:27 any of these guys about him or what's the approach that's that familiar?
01:31 >> Yeah, they've spent some time with him.
01:34 But most coaches change as they go to other places and get different players and
01:39 they'll change some calls and stuff.
01:40 So we've spoken to him a little bit briefly just about the identity maybe.
01:46 But it's hard necessarily to sit down with them and scheme them up.
01:52 >> What was said about maybe the identity of the Timber River defense or
01:55 what kind of notes have you heard?
01:57 >> Well, I mean, he's gonna do a really good job.
01:59 He's gonna have a sound defense.
02:01 They're gonna bring some pressures.
02:03 We're gonna play a lot of different various coverages and
02:06 just gotta get your eyes up.
02:07 >> What's it like playing in Texas?
02:10 You've played there before, you're no stranger to it.
02:12 Is it a different vibe down there?
02:14 >> It's, I don't know if it's necessarily any different from a normal road
02:19 environment.
02:21 They're gonna have a hostile crowd.
02:23 It's gonna be a good road game and we're gonna have to go in there and play well.
02:27 We're gonna have to communicate with each other and
02:30 just really execute the plays that are called.
02:32 >> What's the hottest game you've ever played in?
02:35 >> That's a good question.
02:36 I'm not quite sure exactly the temperature wise, but
02:40 I played at Florida and in Texas a few times.
02:43 It gets hot down in South Alabama at Auburn.
02:45 So I'm not exactly sure the exact, but- >> How close?
02:51 >> We'll be ready for it and we've been training hard for it.
02:53 >> When you watch the Texas Techs defense on film, what stands out?
02:57 What I guess personal groups are impressive?
03:00 >> Their back end I think is experienced.
03:04 They played a lot of football together.
03:06 They're gonna be sharp back there.
03:07 I think they're gonna be in the right spot a lot.
03:10 They're not gonna have many busts.
03:12 And so they're gonna play good sound football and
03:15 we're gonna have to do our best to execute it.
03:19 >> What do you think Rory Franklin did just in this third year at the program to
03:21 kind of up his game after obviously a really good sophomore season?
03:25 >> He's done a great job off the field, away from football.
03:28 He's really focused up.
03:30 He's done a lot of things, changed a lot of things in his daily habits.
03:36 I think he's more focused.
03:38 He was always a smart guy, but now he's really diving into film study and
03:41 really diving into our schemes.
03:43 He's asking really great logical questions.
03:46 And if they do this, what do you want me to do?
03:48 And that's just valuable for a guy like that who's played a lot of football already,
03:52 but he's still wanting to grow and change his ways and grow as a player,
03:58 grow as a person.
03:59 And so I've seen a lot of change out of him and I've been really proud of him.
04:02 >> I know Shrunk is obviously another veteran quarterback you're going up against.
04:08 He played quarterback here for a little bit.
04:10 What have you heard about him and kind of what do you see from him going forward?
04:14 >> I know he's gonna be a respected quarterback.
04:16 He's gonna do a good job.
04:17 A lot of that's just for the defense to go in there and handle him.
04:23 And then I obviously, I know Tyler from Manny Passing Academy and
04:28 just from playing here.
04:30 And so a lot of our guys have played with him and
04:32 I'm gonna be their first time playing against him.
04:36 And so I know he's gonna be ready for the game.
04:38 I know he's very respected quarterback.
04:40 >> I know it's obviously a different level of opponent this week, but
04:44 is there anything that stood on the film from week one?
04:47 The road to my cleanup this week that- >> I think just a little things,
04:52 maybe just as an offense going from playing sharp to really playing
04:57 like perfect football identity.
05:01 Playing sound and playing really good with tags and with routes and
05:06 getting our depth and taking right drops and taking right footwork,
05:09 being perfect and those kind of things.
05:11 I think it would really help us being even sharper for the remainder of the season.
05:16 Thanks, Bob.
05:17 - Thank you, I appreciate it, Bill.
