00:29 - Joshua.
00:36 Chapter 14.
00:37 In verse 10,
00:40 Caleb says, "And now behold, the Lord
00:45 hath kept me alive,
00:47 as he said, these 40 and five years,
00:52 even since the Lord spake this word unto Moses
00:55 while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness.
00:59 And now, lo, I am 85 years old.
01:06 As yet I am as strong this day
01:09 as I was in the day that Moses sent me.
01:12 As my strength was then, even so is my strength now
01:16 for war, both to go out and to come in.
01:19 Now therefore, give me this mount,
01:23 whereof the Lord spake in that day,
01:25 for thou heardest in the day
01:27 how the Anakims were there
01:29 and that the cities were great and fenced.
01:31 If so be the Lord will be with me,
01:34 then I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.
01:38 And Joshua blessed him and gave unto Caleb
01:41 the son of Jehonah, Jefuni, Hebron, for an inheritance."
01:46 I want you to touch somebody and say, I've waited for it.
01:50 - I've waited for it.
01:52 - But it's still mine.
01:54 - But it's still mine.
01:56 - Amen, I waited for it.
01:57 (audience applauding)
01:59 As I was on my way,
02:03 I looked at a quote from the Hasidic Rabbi Susya
02:08 and he said, and I quote,
02:14 "When I get to heaven, they will not ask me,
02:19 why were you not Moses?
02:21 But they will ask me, why were you not Susya?
02:28 Why did you not become what only you could become?"
02:33 And of course, I would add to that,
02:38 this is definitely the existential guilt
02:42 that comes when one realizes what one's vocation is
02:47 and fails to respond to it.
02:53 It is not in the effort to be anybody else
02:58 that you have a fulfilling of your destiny.
03:01 It is in being who you are.
03:06 And when I looked at Caleb, I thought it fit so naturally
03:11 because there were many questions that you ask
03:16 as it relates to how God deals with people
03:21 as well as how he deals with you and deals with me.
03:25 I ask many questions.
03:28 Sometimes there are many things I don't quite understand.
03:33 I say that and not to bring any gloom,
03:39 but I had to preach at PIP
03:41 and the night that I was preaching,
03:44 someone was coming to church to enjoy the service
03:48 and was killed by a car
03:52 right as she was crossing the street on the way to church.
03:56 I don't know if you deal with those kinds of things often,
04:01 but it shook me because the question came to my mind,
04:06 if anybody ever needed a chance to escape
04:13 the oncoming of a fast car,
04:16 it would seem like she should.
04:20 And then to find out I knew her
04:22 and had to preach right behind that was difficult.
04:27 It is often difficult in our lives
04:31 to understand the hand of God
04:35 and why he does what he does.
04:37 But I've since learned
04:39 that when you can't understand what he does,
04:43 you have to understand who he is.
04:46 And I look at Caleb in particular
04:50 and he stretches me with Caleb
04:55 because here is a man who was faithful enough
05:00 to believe God,
05:03 but unfortunate enough to be in a group of men
05:08 who saw themselves as giants,
05:12 as grasshoppers rather,
05:14 when they should have seen their God
05:17 or believed their God as powerful enough
05:22 to prove that he was the God who overcomes giants.
05:27 It is interesting that when you take your eyes off God
05:31 and put your eyes on yourself,
05:33 you see yourself as a grasshopper
05:37 and that's where you get defeated.
05:40 It's how you see yourself.
05:43 Because if you see yourself
05:44 in light of the God that's behind you,
05:48 you do not assess yourself as minuscule
05:52 or as microscopic,
05:54 but rather you see yourself in light of the power
05:58 that God has given you.
06:00 The uniqueness of Caleb strikes me
06:04 because he was two out of 12,
06:07 he was one out of six,
06:09 and ultimately of the men who left Egypt on the other side,
06:14 only two made it in,
06:17 which makes him one out of 300,000.
06:21 You would have to go through 300,000 men
06:25 to find one Caleb.
06:27 And the significance is because he understood
06:33 the grace of God as it relates to deliverance
06:38 and the grace of God as it relates to inheritance.
06:42 He was not complaining like Israel
06:44 because he was seeing the circumstances
06:47 that he was going through
06:49 as a measure of how powerful a God he served.
06:54 I want you to notice now
06:55 that the man has to endure physically for 45 years,
07:00 he has to endure psychologically for 45 years,
07:05 he has to endure spiritually for 45 years,
07:09 and in order to deal with the folk
07:12 who got him 45 years extra time
07:16 on a blessing he should have had,
07:19 he must have had to endure socially.
07:22 And if you won't take that,
07:25 I figure he had to go through some things emotionally.
07:30 Have you ever been around somebody
07:32 who has their foot on your vision
07:36 and you have to deal with them
07:38 because God has not released you from having to deal
07:43 with that kind of thing?
07:45 The question now becomes, the philosophical issue,
07:50 the issue behind the scenes
07:53 of the account in the book of Joshua
07:56 and of course from Exodus,
07:59 from Exodus to Joshua,
08:01 that we have to ask ourselves,
08:04 are we prepared to understand divine revelation
08:09 and the knowledge of God within the sphere of history
08:14 and the horizon of promise?
08:19 I wanna say that again.
08:21 Are we prepared?
08:22 Because as I operate in my calling
08:26 and as you operate in your calling
08:28 or just in your walk with God,
08:31 are you prepared to understand divine revelation
08:36 within the parameters of your normal everyday life
08:41 and in your history?
08:43 Because if God is to reveal himself,
08:47 he does not reveal himself to your sensual perception.
08:51 I have never seen God.
08:53 I have served him, I have worshiped,
08:55 I have lifted my hands, I've cried,
08:57 I've stretched out before him,
08:59 I've prayed to him.
09:01 But I have never seen him with my naked eyes.
09:05 My sensual perception has not grasped the hold of God.
09:10 My sensual perception helps me to operate in my world,
09:13 but my sensual perception does not operate
09:17 in the world of spirit.
09:18 And God is a spirit.
09:21 And so now am I prepared to understand
09:25 the revelation of God and the knowledge of God
09:28 within the things that happen in my life.
09:33 If that is so, then to me,
09:35 God has to reveal himself as God,
09:39 where he shows himself as the same
09:43 and is thus known by his promise.
09:48 In other words, for me to know
09:50 or for me to have God revealed,
09:54 he has to give me a promise.
09:56 And then he has to reveal himself
10:00 by making the promise come to pass,
10:04 because I will not see him.
10:06 He will not show me himself.
10:09 I will not be able to sit down
10:11 and sensually deal with him.
10:14 I will have to believe the promise of an unknown God,
10:19 an unseen God rather.
10:21 I will have to believe the promise of an unseen God.
10:26 And get to know God in the revelation
10:30 of the promise that he gives.
10:32 If he gives the promise,
10:34 it has to come to pass
10:37 in order to reveal himself to me.
10:41 Because I can't see him bringing it to me.
10:46 I will see it when it's completed,
10:48 but I have to believe it until the completion
10:53 so that I might have revelation of the same said God.
10:58 This is why he cannot lie.
11:01 This is why he has to be faithful.
11:03 Because in order for him to generate my faith,
11:07 he has to be faithful to his word.
11:11 That's why the Hebrew writer said,
11:12 "Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever."
11:17 He cannot change because it's in his unchangeableness
11:23 that establishes the consistency
11:27 of the attributes that establish faith.
11:30 If he is unchangeable,
11:32 then I can latch on to his unchangeableness
11:37 and have him drag me through all kinds of circumstances
11:41 for 45 years and still maintain my faith.
11:46 Are we talking about trusting God?
11:50 Yeah, all right, all right.
11:52 You see, God then must be faithful
11:55 and he must be consistent if he's going to build me.
11:59 Because this establishes,
12:01 I'm not taking you too far down, I pray,
12:03 the prep supposition for the knowledge of God
12:06 is the revealing of God by God.
12:10 It is God who has to set up, how might I put it?
12:14 He creates a situation for revelation.
12:18 And in order for me to have him revealed to me,
12:23 I cannot initiate or bring him into my world.
12:27 He has to come into my world to bring me into his.
12:32 And so what I might look at as an awful circumstance
12:37 is just a setup for God to reveal himself to me
12:44 in the middle of what I call calamity.
12:48 So now then God remains the subject, yes, and Lord,
12:53 even of the process of man's knowledge of him.
12:58 He doesn't give up the process.
13:00 Oh, I feel it now, amen.
13:02 Maybe I'm getting high already.
13:04 [audience laughing]
13:05 He doesn't reveal.
13:07 He does not known, he does not release the process
13:12 because you can't grasp all of God at one time,
13:17 no more than you can put all your clothes on at one time.
13:21 You got to put piece by piece until you get the full picture
13:26 of what God is intending to do in your life.
13:31 It is impossible then to be in the world
13:35 and be not of the world,
13:38 except you have the power of expectation
13:42 that what God has promised, he will bring to pass.
13:47 So while others are falling by the wayside
13:50 because their sensual perception has overcome their faith,
13:55 for you to believe God,
13:58 he can drag you for 45 years through the death of others
14:03 into the place that he told you he would take you.
14:08 Ah, and what that makes you is not of the world,
14:12 even though you're in the world,
14:15 because only those who are not limited to time and space
14:20 can be in time and space and not be of time and space
14:25 because time and space is only a platform
14:31 for the eternity and the infinity of God
14:35 to reveal himself to your spirit.
14:38 Ah, my time and space is my situation.
14:41 My encounter with God is my revelation.
14:45 And it's going to take the revelation of God
14:48 that's going to bring me through
14:50 every situation that I face.
14:54 So I don't live any longer by situation.
14:58 I live now by revelation
15:01 because I have to have revelation
15:03 to overcome what I have to face from day to day.
15:08 Oh, I feel it here.
15:11 Touch your neighbor, say, I don't have it yet,
15:13 but it's still mine.
15:14 I'm on the way, I'm on the way.
15:18 When the revelation then,
15:19 since the revelations of God are promises,
15:23 then God himself is revealed.
15:27 Wherever he keeps his covenant
15:29 and his faithfulness forever,
15:32 it is the process of the revelation of God.
15:35 Why?
15:36 Because I can't see the entity God.
15:39 I can't see the being, the supreme, the magnanimous.
15:42 I can't see God.
15:45 But when he says I'm going to do something
15:48 and he brings it to pass
15:51 in the middle of what seems to be such an impossibility,
15:55 then I know that the promise he gave
15:58 was the promise of God
16:00 because nobody else could have brought it to pass
16:03 but God himself.
16:06 Oh, I feel it.
16:07 Where God is faithful then,
16:09 where he's faithful to any promise he has given,
16:13 he becomes manifest and knowable as the self same God.
16:18 You cannot know him fully
16:20 by the historical representations of others.
16:24 You cannot know him simply
16:26 by what somebody said to you about their life.
16:29 He has to drag you through the seeming impossible
16:34 and bring you out until your very soul declares,
16:39 this is my God.
16:41 That's why I worship him.
16:43 That's why I lift him up
16:45 because he brings to pass whatever he says.
16:49 Oh, I feel it.
16:50 You have to know him then
16:52 in the future of his promise to you
16:56 because much of the life of the child of God is future.
17:01 Oh, yes, indeed.
17:04 You have to know him
17:05 and you have to know him
17:07 within the parameters of the vision
17:09 to the point where the vision drags you through
17:13 whatever it is that comes against you
17:17 because now in light of the vision,
17:19 what comes against you is not an obstacle.
17:23 It is the way.
17:25 Oh, I feel it here.
17:26 Let me interject this.
17:30 Would you rather go down a street that had no difficulties
17:35 and it wasn't going anywhere
17:38 or would you rather go down one that had difficulties
17:42 but at the end of the difficulty was the achievement?
17:47 You see, it's not the easy way that proves God
17:51 but God likes to deal with the hard way
17:54 so he can show you and I
17:57 that you didn't bring this to pass.
17:59 I did it and I deserve the glory.
18:04 The promise then, the promise, the promise.
18:09 The promise must be distinct from any situation
18:14 and personal historical event.
18:17 The promise has to be outside of the circumstance.
18:22 In other words, the promise cannot be connected
18:25 to the event of your present.
18:27 And God fixes it so that the promise seems
18:33 to be so ridiculous in spite of the circumstance
18:38 that you're facing.
18:40 That's what makes the promise such a promise
18:43 because there's nothing that's going on around you
18:47 that will indicate this thing will come to pass.
18:52 And it's, oh God, doesn't it seem like
18:55 that he talks to you in the worst time of your life
19:00 and gives you the most grandiose promise
19:04 about what he's going to do for you
19:08 because to ensure it is God,
19:11 the promise is often contradistinctive to the situation
19:16 and the history of the situation.
19:20 That's why after you get over what boggles your mind,
19:24 when you tell your friends what God said,
19:28 they look at you like you must be crazy.
19:31 The situation then must make the promise more pronounced
19:40 like his promise to Abraham, like this promise to Caleb.
19:45 Then God confesses his promise by adopting and confirming
19:51 and renewing and continuing and ultimately fulfilling them.
19:56 That's why every time you go through a Jehovah-Jireh
20:01 situation, it looks real bad going in,
20:05 but there's a ram in the bush.
20:08 You don't see the ram in the bush.
20:11 All you see is the trial.
20:13 But I heard him say, greater is he that's in you
20:19 than he that's in the world.
20:22 You see great, but greater is not seen.
20:26 Oh, I feel like preaching greater has to be believed.
20:31 Greater has to be trusted.
20:34 It was Jergen Maltman who said, he said, and I quote,
20:37 he said, "The essence and the identity of God
20:41 lies not in his absoluteness over and beyond history,
20:46 but in the consistency of his freely chosen relationship
20:50 to his creatures, the constancy of his electing mercy
20:55 and faithfulness," unquote.
20:58 The historical action of God within the horizon of promise
21:03 is simple and it's to the point.
21:06 I'm going to bring you out.
21:09 This is yours.
21:11 How you going to do it?
21:13 He doesn't always say how.
21:15 He just says, this is yours.
21:18 He is not seeing them in the obscurity of liturgical
21:23 or symbolic ritual.
21:25 He has to operate within the action of your life.
21:30 He operates in the thing that causes you fear,
21:35 that forces you between fear and faith.
21:38 If he pulled you into fear and you only dealt with fear,
21:43 you would be one-sided disappointed failure.
21:47 But if everything was easy in your life,
21:50 you would never expand.
21:52 What he does is he pulls you between the two.
21:56 He stretches you by you feeling it'll never come to pass
22:01 only to get a word from the Lord
22:04 that'll keep you believing until ultimately
22:08 you'll lift up both your hands and say,
22:11 the God I praise is real.
22:15 Yes, he is.
22:18 I feel like preaching now.
22:20 It is here then that you must have the victory over,
22:25 pass over the past.
22:28 Because if the past stays in front of you,
22:32 then you will never ever receive the promise of God.
22:37 It is this promise that has got to pull you out of
22:41 the negatives of your past
22:44 and move you from apprehension to anticipation.
22:49 I wish you were sitting on the fence when you met the Lord.
22:53 But when you met the Lord,
22:55 you were already steeped in the attitude of satanic,
22:59 debilitating negativities.
23:02 And he had to bring you out of what your family never did
23:07 and bring you up out of what nobody around you ever became.
23:12 Bring you up out of the look of your neighborhood
23:16 and the room that you grew up in.
23:19 Just to show you if I put a promise in your spirit,
23:23 I will give you the talent to bring the promise to pass.
23:29 And I will strengthen you so that 45 years later,
23:34 it still doesn't matter.
23:37 It's mine.
23:38 God said it.
23:40 Feel a little churchy here.
23:46 The apprehension then is generally born out of the negatives
23:49 of the past.
23:51 And God pulls us into the anticipation out of the future
23:56 of the positive of the promise.
23:59 A promise can change your life.
24:02 Somebody was coming over here tonight and somebody said,
24:06 "Well, do you have a ride?
24:08 "I'm coming to get you."
24:10 And he said, "No, don't come get me.
24:11 "I have a ride."
24:13 Well, all right.
24:15 They didn't show up.
24:17 Oh God, and now you say, "You didn't come get me
24:19 "and I depended on you.
24:21 "I had a ride."
24:24 You didn't have a ride.
24:25 You had a promise of a ride.
24:29 But because you had the promise,
24:31 you turned other things away.
24:34 Oh, I'm here to tell you,
24:36 when God gives you a promise and you trust the promise,
24:41 you will look the devil in the face
24:45 and say, "That ain't good enough.
24:47 "I ain't got a promise."
24:50 From the Lord.
24:52 The past now becomes.
24:54 The past promises of God.
24:57 Because the knowledge of God is then the knowledge
25:00 of the future of God.
25:01 Touch your neighbor and say,
25:03 "That's the only reason I'm alive
25:05 "is because God gave me a promise
25:08 "and I can't die till it comes to pass."
25:12 (audience cheering)
25:13 I can't.
25:14 And so now the future of God
25:18 is upheld by the hopes that are called to life
25:22 by his promises.
25:24 And the past now becomes the past promises of God
25:28 and his faithfulness, remembrance, and expectation.
25:33 What brings me through this next difficulty
25:37 is I have expectations because of a past promise.
25:42 Can I just take it a little further?
25:44 You see, the difference between the Old Testament
25:47 and the New is that the Old Promise announces
25:52 the coming of a not yet existing reality
25:56 from the future of truth.
25:59 How might I put that?
26:01 When God declares a promise,
26:04 it is an already existing reality in the mind of God.
26:09 But it's not an existing reality in your mind.
26:15 I hope you understand that.
26:17 As far as God is concerned, it's already done
26:21 because 45 years doesn't matter to God
26:25 because the man's life is in his hand
26:28 and the promise is in his hand
26:31 and the fulfillment is in his hand.
26:34 So I don't have to worry, will I get it?
26:37 Or will I die before it comes?
26:39 Or will it leave before I get there?
26:42 If God said it's mine, it's mine
26:46 and no devil can do anything about it.
26:51 I feel somebody believe in God.
26:54 Give somebody high fives, say I have a ministry
26:57 and it shall come to pass.
27:01 Oh God, I must preach.
27:03 The future then is that reality
27:06 which fulfills and satisfies the promise
27:11 because it completely corresponds to the promise
27:14 and it accords with it.
27:17 It is the promise then is the ground of the revealing
27:21 of the divinity of God
27:23 and it depends entirely upon real fulfillment
27:28 when the promise demands personal adjustments
27:32 because the promise causes me
27:35 to contradict my existing reality
27:39 because reality is not only actuality,
27:43 reality is also potentiality.
27:47 I might be struggling with this today
27:50 but according to the promise,
27:53 I will not be struggling with it tomorrow.
27:57 I might as well have church, I don't know,
27:59 I got a little more time.
28:02 This revelation recognizes then as promise
28:06 and it embraces this thing
28:08 and what it does is it embraces the promise so intensely
28:13 that it embraces the suffering of the present time.
28:17 If I got to go through this,
28:20 then I got to go through this
28:22 because what's about to break
28:26 is going to be greater than anything I'm going through.
28:31 I feel this thing here.
28:33 Without promise, the revelation of God in Christ
28:37 would be in danger of being incomplete
28:41 and literally collapsing altogether
28:44 because Jesus ascends the cross
28:47 knowing he's coming down with all power in his hands.
28:52 If you want to get to all power,
28:55 you got to go through your cross.
28:58 You can't back up from your cross and expect your reward
29:03 but if this is a 45-year cross, then so be it
29:09 but I'm not going to let a giant run me away
29:13 because I've got to hold on to the promise of God.
29:18 Has God promised you something?
29:20 Then look your neighbor in the face
29:21 and say it's got to come to pass.
29:25 I feel like preaching here.
29:27 That's why he says the just shall live by trust
29:32 because promise makes faith possible
29:35 and promise makes patience possible
29:39 because you can't do anything with a promise
29:42 but wait for it.
29:43 I feel like preaching, especially a promise
29:47 you can't work out and that's what God deals with.
29:52 We might as well have church, Pat,
29:54 'cause I feel something pushing me.
29:57 The channel is that of faith
29:59 and it comes across through faith
30:02 because there's no way that Caleb
30:05 can keep himself as strong as he was 45 years ago.
30:10 There is no way.
30:13 All he's got to do is stretch his hands out to God
30:17 and say that you promised me the impossible
30:20 and I'm going to believe you for it
30:23 and I don't care who's backing up on the left and the right.
30:27 I'm holding on to the promise of God.
30:31 Can you think about Abraham?
30:33 He waited 25 years and had a baby at 100
30:38 and his wife at 90.
30:41 Touch somebody, say a double impossibility
30:44 but here is a man that walked through with the folk
30:49 who would not believe God
30:52 and I rose to tell you sometime
30:54 you've got to deal with folk all around you
30:59 that question everything you believe
31:03 and you've got to learn to shake 'em off
31:06 and tell 'em I still believe God
31:09 because you don't determine my future
31:12 and I don't have to have your validation.
31:16 If God said it and I hold on to God,
31:20 this is mine.
31:22 I had to wait for it.
31:24 I had to cry through it but it's still mine.
31:29 I think about Moulton and Mulligan
31:32 when they defined faith.
31:35 They said faith is the substance,
31:37 the hupostasis of things hoped for,
31:41 the elicos of things not seen
31:44 and when I looked at the word hupostasis,
31:47 it means the title deed.
31:50 Can I preach like a fillet?
31:52 I bought some property, I do it all the time
31:56 and I haven't been to the properties yet.
31:59 I just bought a complex the other day
32:02 and haven't seen it yet
32:05 but I have the title
32:07 and if I got the title, I got to see the land.
32:12 I feel like preaching here.
32:14 Caleb got him a title 45 years
32:19 before he walked in the land
32:22 but it was still his.
32:25 Touch 'em neighbor said faith is my title.
32:29 To my new car, to my new house,
32:33 to my new husband, to my new wife,
32:37 to my new church, to my new, new, new,
32:41 faith is my title deed
32:45 and when you see me praising the Lord,
32:49 I'm shouting on the land that I haven't seen yet.
32:54 I feel the Holy Ghost in here.
32:57 Shake somebody's hand and say give me this mountain
33:01 'cause God promised it to me
33:04 and you will not give it away.
33:07 Don't look at my age, don't count what I've been through.
33:12 Don't wonder if I'm able or do I have the capacity
33:16 'cause if God gave it, he'll make me able.
33:21 He'll give me the capacity, he'll give me the strength.
33:25 I feel the Holy Ghost in here.
33:28 I feel like having victory.
33:30 Pull on your neighbor, say shake yourself.
33:34 Get out of your despair.
33:36 Let 'em go where they wanna go.
33:38 Hold on to your dream.
33:41 Hold on to your faith.
33:43 Hold on to your vision.
33:45 I know you've been fought.
33:48 I know you've been talked about
33:50 but you oughta give God glory for your enemies
33:55 'cause they getting ready to get you blessed.
33:59 I feel like preaching in here.
34:01 I feel like lifting him up.
34:03 Y'all pray for me a little while
34:06 but pray because the God I serve keeps his word.
34:11 He's always right.
34:14 You might be crying but he ain't through yet.
34:18 You might have opposition but he ain't through yet.
34:22 When he gets through, you gonna possess the land.
34:26 Wherever your feet walk, it's yours.
34:30 Whatever you step on, it's yours.
34:34 Tell your neighbor, step on it.
34:36 Shout on it.
34:38 Jump on it.
34:40 Run on it.
34:41 Lift him up for it.
34:43 Give him glory.
34:44 (congregation cheering)
34:49 (upbeat music)
34:51 I feel him in here.
34:58 I feel him in here.
35:00 Do I have some unique people in the house?
35:04 One out of 3,000.
35:06 One out of 300,000.
35:08 One out of a million.
35:10 Give somebody high five.
35:12 Say I can only be me.
35:16 I can't go with the rest of Israel
35:20 'cause when I get to heaven, God's gonna ask me,
35:24 Noel, why weren't you Jake's?
35:27 He ain't asking that.
35:29 He's saying, Noel, why aren't you Noel?
35:33 And do all I told you to do.
35:36 Shake somebody's hand.
35:38 Say I can't be you.
35:40 I can only be me.
35:42 And I believe God that no matter how old I am,
35:47 he's still gonna deliver.
35:49 No matter how sad I am, he's still gonna deliver.
35:53 No matter how much I've been through,
35:56 he's still gonna deliver 'cause God gave me.
36:01 (congregation cheering)
36:06 (congregation cheering)
36:09 (congregation cheering)
36:13 (congregation cheering)
36:16 (congregation cheering)
36:19 (congregation cheering)
36:24 (congregation cheering)
36:27 (congregation cheering)
36:38 (congregation cheering)
36:51 (congregation cheering)
36:54 - At the end of the day,
37:21 you will walk into exactly what he said
37:26 and what kept you was your trust.
37:33 I'm closing.
37:39 I'm closing.
37:46 We like things within the parameters
37:51 of our ability to control.
37:54 You don't mind driving fast
37:59 as long as you're behind the wheel.
38:02 You don't mind going fast.
38:06 But when you're going fast
38:10 and someone else is behind the wheel,
38:13 (congregation laughing)
38:17 and to take that further,
38:22 you can have trust in a particular driver
38:28 and they can go fast.
38:30 In fact, you rush 'em on.
38:33 Got somewhere to go, man, come on, what's going on?
38:36 But put another driver in their place
38:40 and you say, you know what, give me the wheel.
38:43 (congregation laughing)
38:47 The more control you have,
38:49 the less you have to trust.
38:54 (congregation cheering)
39:03 And our challenge that drives
39:13 our duplicity is when God takes the thing
39:18 out of our control.
39:20 And he forces me to trust him.
39:28 And what God said to me is this,
39:34 as I looked at that in light of this theme,
39:42 he said, when I promise you something,
39:44 never worry that when you receive it,
39:52 you'll be too old to enjoy it.
39:56 (congregation cheering)
39:59 Because I am the same one
40:06 who controls your life
40:11 as I controlled what I'm giving you.
40:16 Nobody can take what I give you
40:20 and you will not be stopped from receiving
40:27 what I have for you.
40:30 And I heard something else.
40:34 He said, if you'd hurry up and get busy,
40:36 he said, I'll redeem the time.
40:39 (congregation cheering)
40:41 I'll shorten the time 'cause I control you,
40:45 I control my promise, and I control the time.
40:48 I'll know what would've took in 10 years,
40:51 I'll do it in five.
40:53 What should happen in five, I'll do it in a year.
40:56 And all of a sudden, somebody said,
40:58 where did you come from?
40:59 Woo, I see 'em.
41:03 I'm not going to preach part two.
41:09 Take somebody's hand like you go shake it off
41:11 and say, neighbor, where did you come from?
41:13 I never heard about you.
41:15 But I've been trusting God for years.
41:19 I feel like preaching now.
41:23 I feel, touch somebody, say God's getting ready
41:26 to reveal me.
41:28 God's getting ready to pull the covers off my gift.
41:31 God's getting ready to show me, to everybody around me,
41:36 that I've been sitting on this gift
41:38 and God say, it's your time now.
41:40 The painting is finished, the sculpture is over.
41:44 You've suffered enough and I'm getting ready to reveal.
41:49 (congregation cheering)
41:53 Reveal.
41:56 I want you to get one person by both hands.
41:58 Take one partner.
42:01 Caleb.
42:06 You haven't waited 45 years yet.
42:08 You're not even 45 years old.
42:12 Walked in there and took that mountain.
42:16 Ran the giants out.
42:21 As I get ready to pray,
42:26 the only problem with Israel
42:34 was that didn't understand
42:36 that if the land is flowing with milk and honey,
42:41 everybody wants it.
42:43 But everybody can't have it if it's yours.
42:49 Because if God has given it to you,
42:54 everybody can't have it.
42:58 So it don't matter how big the corporation
43:03 that's sitting on it.
43:04 Don't matter what the title of the person is that's there.
43:09 If it's yours, it's just yours.
43:15 And to that person who has believed God
43:21 through years of poverty,
43:22 you've believed him from years of being alone.
43:26 You believed him when you had to cry.
43:31 You believed him and couldn't find any support.
43:33 Nobody believed what you believed.
43:38 But in the midst of that, you still praised him.
43:43 And you still honored him as your God.
43:47 He says, I'm going to introduce you.
43:52 I'm going to use you as a reference.
43:55 'Cause somebody's gonna see where you're coming from.
44:01 And know that God is real.
44:03 Hallelujah.
44:07 Hallelujah.
44:10 Squeeze one hand.
44:13 I bind every spirit of doubt, Lord, in the name of Jesus.
44:17 I bind discouragement.
44:19 I bind self-second guessing.
44:24 I bind low self-esteem.
44:29 I bind right now antagonizing and agonizing on decisions
44:33 that need to be made and steps that need to be taken.
44:38 Choices that need to trust you.
44:41 For Lord, only you could do
44:44 what you put in our spirits and our heart.
44:47 And in fact, Lord, I know as a fact
44:50 that you'll do more than the vision that I have.
44:53 Because Lord, my mind is not capable of grasping
44:56 the fullness of the vision you have.
44:59 I bind low self-esteem right now.
45:02 I bind the grasshopper spirit.
45:05 I bind the grasshopper spirit in the name of Jesus.
45:09 I bind fear.
45:11 Oh, I claim it right now.
45:14 Oh, now I claim it bound.
45:16 I bind satanic oppression.
45:18 Now squeeze the other hand.
45:20 I loose your faith.
45:21 I loose your anointing.
45:24 I loose your gift.
45:26 I loose your calling.
45:29 I loose your boldness.
45:31 I loose your aggressive move.
45:34 In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus,
45:37 I loose your joy.
45:39 Oh, now loose your hands and give God a praise.
45:43 (audience applauding)
45:47 Oh, bless him for who you are.
45:52 Bless him for who you are.
45:55 Bless him for who you are.
45:58 Bless him for what you can do.
46:01 Bless him for what you will do.
46:03 Bless him for how you will operate.
46:06 Bless him for your calling.
46:09 Bless him for your gifts.
46:11 Bless him for your talent.
46:13 Don't minimize him.
46:15 Don't act like you're not somebody.
46:18 Don't act like God didn't promise you something.
46:21 Bless him for where he's taken you.
46:23 Bless him for what you've been through.
46:26 It was not a hardship, it was a preparation.
46:29 Bless him for your preparation.
46:31 Bless him for your enemies.
46:33 Thank him for every one of them.
46:35 (audience applauding)
46:38 Somebody in this house
46:49 may be in here and not saved.
46:51 In here tonight and don't know the Lord,
46:55 as you stand and just worship him.
46:57 For those who wanna sit, it's fine.
47:00 Amen, I won't impose a hardship.
47:02 But for those who are here tonight
47:04 and have not been born again,
47:05 you don't know the Lord as your personal savior.
47:09 First of all, you did not believe in your heart,
47:11 you haven't confessed with your mouth.
47:13 Because that's what it takes to lead you
47:15 into the waters of baptism
47:17 and to receive the power of the Holy Ghost.
47:19 If you're here, somehow you got in here tonight
47:22 and you're not born again.
47:25 You know that if the Lord would come tonight
47:28 or if you would die suddenly,
47:29 there's a question in your mind
47:31 as to whether or not you'd be saved.
47:33 I call you to come right now.
47:35 Come from wherever you are, from the balcony.
47:38 Come from all over the place.
47:40 Just come, just come.
47:42 Just come, just come.
47:46 Come, come, give God the glory.
47:48 Give God the praise.
47:50 (upbeat music)
47:52 (thunder rumbling)
47:55 (upbeat music)
47:58 (thunder rumbling)
48:01 (thunder)
48:03 (thunder)
