00:00 Welcome to Sunday Morning Quarterback with Jay Stockwell and Bob Frady.
00:07 Here we are with another episode of Sunday Morning Quarterback Nebraska Edition.
00:11 I'm UB, that's Jay Stockwell.
00:14 Jay, where are you?
00:15 Well, I'm not at home.
00:18 And boy oh boy, we had to get in on the free game for Colorado Nebraska.
00:22 Wait, are you in jail?
00:24 No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:26 I'm at the, literally the Times Square Edition Hotel in Times Square in New York in the lobby
00:32 bar.
00:33 So it's a little noisy, a bunch of people around here.
00:36 And uh, but I, I've got to go to another-
00:37 Who's the crazy guy talking to his phone?
00:39 I got to go to another meeting here and I got it slow, I got like 10 minutes.
00:43 What do you see with Colorado right now?
00:45 So this has the potential to be the single biggest game in like college football recent
00:50 memory, at least a decade.
00:52 Right now in Vegas, this game has more money bet on it than the entire first week of the
00:57 NFL.
00:58 Like, how amazing is that?
01:01 And they're talking potentially that the viewership of the game could be the single biggest college
01:05 football game in history.
01:08 It's a nationally televised game, Fox and Big Dune Fox.
01:11 So here's, here's what I see.
01:13 And I put some thought into this on the plane coming in here.
01:17 So first of all, and I'm changing, by the way, Bob, I'm changing my, uh, preseason pitching
01:24 for this game.
01:25 Okay.
01:26 Based on some in-depth analysis.
01:27 Number one, Matt Rule will fix the turnovers and fix the penalties.
01:32 Guess who agrees with me on that?
01:34 Urban Meyer.
01:35 I heard him talk about it on Fox.
01:37 All right.
01:38 According, number two, according to Pro Football Focus, who grades every player at every play,
01:43 our line plate is significantly better, including tracking similar guys year over year.
01:50 Amazingly, our pass protection is rated 85.
01:54 That's very high if you know anything about Pro Football Focus.
01:57 So our line play is pretty darn good and it's based on direct observation and grading.
02:02 So I think our defense will match the speed of Colorado.
02:08 Chancellor Brewington, Keyshawn Johnson came on some podcasts and was railing about how
02:12 Colorado is going to run by us.
02:15 And Chancellor Brewington came on as a foreign player and said, "No way.
02:18 Nebraska defense is fast."
02:19 We saw that firsthand in Minnesota.
02:23 So I think our defense is going to be great.
02:27 Our quarterbacks and our running backs are going to have a record day.
02:31 I predict they're going to have a record day running the ball in space.
02:34 TCU gashed these guys for 262 yards.
02:39 I don't think...
02:40 Colorado did not have one tackle for a loss in that game.
02:47 Not one.
02:48 And they were slinging the ball all over the place.
02:50 Yeah.
02:51 So I really think that we have a chance to control the tempo, control the game, run the
02:56 ball, run the ball hard.
02:58 And I predict there will be a historic upset when Nebraska beats Fable, Colorado, they're
03:04 favored by 3.5, 27 to 24.
03:06 You get the field goal in the fourth quarter.
03:10 And this historic win is going to cause Rick George, their athletic director, who did the
03:16 deal with Deion, and Trev Alberts to renew the series.
03:20 It goes through 2024 for another decade.
03:25 That is my prediction.
03:26 Wow.
03:27 That's a big prediction.
03:28 Okay, here's what I see.
03:29 I see that Nebraska has the opportunity to beat up Colorado's defense.
03:35 And will they take advantage of it?
03:37 Who knows.
03:38 I know they played Colton last time.
03:39 All bets are off.
03:40 But physically, I think they can dominate the Colorado defense.
03:44 The Colorado offense, on the other hand, holy cow, was that impressive.
03:49 Impressive, impressive, impressive.
03:51 Coach Deion, people hate Coach Deion because he's got all swag.
03:55 He's all swag and people hate that.
03:57 But as a guy who's lived by swag, who loves to say things like, "It ain't bragging if
04:02 you can back it up."
04:04 I'm okay with that swag.
04:06 The question is, can the Blackshirts stop the passing game enough so that the defense
04:11 dominates the game?
04:13 And the question is, I don't know.
04:14 So I think that the final score will be 15 to 14.
04:17 15 to 14?
04:18 That's an interesting score.
04:19 15 to 14.
04:20 Yeah.
04:21 How do you get to 15 to 14?
04:25 Five field goals for Nebraska, two touchdowns for Colorado.
04:28 There you go.
04:29 There you go.
04:30 Well, so yeah, I think, look, it's going to be exciting, whatever it is.
04:35 It's going to be a lot of fun.
04:37 We are not going, so we're not making specific recommendations on where to go.
04:41 But we're going to be tucked into our home offices.
04:46 And by the way, Bob, let's do the post-game podcast Saturday night.
04:49 Does that sound good?
04:50 Okay.
04:51 Like after the game.
04:52 Fine with me.
04:53 I'll be hammered.
04:55 Let's put it on at four o'clock on Saturday if we can.
04:59 Andy and the team that's on the line.
05:02 But really, this is like the biggest thing that happened in a long time.
05:07 And this may be the shortest podcast we've ever done.
05:09 You've got our predictions.
05:10 It's five minutes and seven seconds.
05:12 You might even do this just as a short, release it as a short.
05:15 We'll let our executive producers decide that.
05:18 But go Big Red, beat Colorado.
05:20 Go Big Red, beat the Buffs.
